NVIDIA has reportedly set the retail MSRP of its upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 "Ada" graphics card at USD $600. This would put its starting price at anywhere between $170-200 cheaper than the RTX 4070 Ti.

Waiting 2.5 years got you an extra 2GB of VRAM and saved you $100...

So if I'd sell my used 3070 (non TI) I'd have to pay around 300 on top. That sucks.
Probably better to wait for a 4060 TI if I don't wanna be limited to 8GB of VRAM anymore and do a sidegrade.

$600 would be a great price, honestly. It would be easy to recommend at that price if it gives better performance than a 3080, 12GB VRAM and DLSS3.

I think I am going to hold out for the 7800 XT. Should be around the same price or a bit more, but hopefully have more VRAM.

Honestly, at that price this will probably the second nvidia card to sell out this gen.

"ONLY" a 20% price increase is the second best price from nvidia this gen.

Never upgrade to the same series within 1 generation as it's never a big enough leap. If you want to upgrade within 1 generation then you need to move up a performance tier, otherwise you're better off waiting 2 generations. The 4080 is your upgrade option this generation but completely appreciate it if the price is too high. If you don't have 4080 then you need to wait for the 5070.

The 4060 Ti is rumoured to only have 8GB VRAM which would make it DOA.

The Vram bump to 12 gb would definitely be nice, and 600 is less than I thought Nvidia would go for, but that's still kinda wild that 600 bucks is considered 'not as bad as it could be', lol.

Will probably end up waiting to see what 5-series delivers, maybe Nvidia will have adjusted expectations for the decidedly-not-humongous crypto backdrop.

The 3070 was $500 while massively skimping on VRAM. Given the level of inflation over the last 2 years, this has to be the best case scenario for pricing. Pricing at the same tier was never going to be static. A $100 increase is reasonable especially considering the x80 got a $500 increase.

Expecting a $500 price was a complete fantasy.

Good advice, appreciate it - I feel my system is pretty balanced for 1440p/60 except the 8GB VRAM so I don't need a generational jump. I also don't want a power hungry monster.
If the 4060 Ti is just 8BG they can keep it. I'll just make it through another year then.

Maybe it's best for me to wait for the 5000 series. Maybe things will go back to normal then.

Not sure if it's cheap enough for me to justify swapping my 3070, but the extra vram is enticing. Already seeing the cracks with my current 8gb.

A $600 3070 with 12GB VRAM would have been a better product than the 8GB $500 card we got that has aged like milk. $600 would be a great price.

I threw in the towel and found a deal on a 4080 as an upgrade to my 3070. I'm glad I did but completely understand anyone being put off by the outrageous MSRP it launched at. It's a fantastic leap over the 3070 and I think Nvidia would have a genuinely exciting product at $900/$1000 but $1200 was a step too far.

I'm never going to buy a video card that costs more than a whole console.

(TBF I mostly play WoW and Magic Arena so I'm not exactly pushing the envelope)

True, Nvidia has had an occasional history with shafting the 70-series users on Vram, lol.

Hopefully the 5000 series echoes the 4000 series trend, and not revert back.

It looks on par with a 3080 12GB overall, which isn't really impressive considering the 3080 10GB launched at $700 about three years ago. $100 less isn't nothing, but overall the prices on these 4xxx cards just feel completely miscalibrated for the market.

However, being fair in tossing out relative comparisons to last generation pricing, this looks like the card makes the greatest argument for price to performance from Nvidia this generation - as in, if was looking to make a "4k 120hz gaming machine" and wasn't looking to break the bank, I think this would be the sweet spot card to get with the options available. DLSS 3 gives it a boost in value too. I still think the best bet is waiting another generation, but this card's pricing isn't actually insulting as a lot of other GPU offerings are right now.

If it's $600, I'm unfortunately getting one. My 3060 is not having a good time at 1440p144, and that was a desperate purchase in the first place due to my 5700XT dying.

cause last time I checked they werent that popular.

anyways. thats 700-800€ which ist still way to high for a 70 card.
I paid like 450€ for my 2070 back then..
