Assuming this is on average a 3080 it look like I'll be upgrading from a 1060. The 4060ti and 4060 with 8gb is a no go.

Really the 4060 should have been the 3080 on average, like the 1060 was on average a 980. But alas the 4000 generation seems to be a disappointment, I'm not patient enough to wait for the 5000 series.

250W is the most attractive thing for me. I might bite.. my 2070 just groan in agony everytime I play something new nowadays

Native Performance is irrelevant. DLSS often surpasses the image quality of native resolution TAA even in the performance mode at 4K so there's no good argument for turning it off. It's a different equation on AMD hardware because FSR2 doesn't have the same image quality and the RT performance is so poor.

I'm enjoying games with the full gamut of RT effects like Witcher Enhanced at 4K/120hz thanks to DLSS3. No need to wait, the hardware is already here, and it's great that it's now accessible at $600.

As a previous user of the 3070, I completely accept that RT is far less useful at that performance tier and VRAM capacity. A 12GB 3080/3080Ti tier card with DLSS3 support though? That's a very capable RT card.
Well, not every game supports DLSS and/or FSR and not only that but the quality of them can vary on the game. Like in some games it looks better than native and other times worse with issues like blurriness, flickering and such. I'm sure it also relies on the cpu more as well. I would say Quality mode is the only one worth using really for image quality and performance. Balanced can be okay in certain situations but not always worth it. The performance modes just look...ugh.

Those upscaling methods won't be a standard until nearly every game from now on supports both!

What is it and what's your memory.? It's easy to notice in game as if you're not hitting a Vsync or framerate cap and your GPU utilisation is below 95% then you're hitting a CPU bottleneck. The problem is it changes from game to game and even scene to scene within a game. Certain titles like the Last Of Us port or Flight Sim make it near impossible to totally avoid.

This is what I have at the moment.

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor (24 CPUs), ~4.0GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
OS Memory:16302MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
Display Memory: 16153 MB
Dedicated Memory: 8003 MB
Shared Memory: 8150 MB

Performance mode DLSS at 4K looks fantastic. I'm convinced the majority of gamers wouldn't be able to tell the difference to native in a double-blind test. DLSS doesn't have any measurable CPU overhead.

The 3900x has never been a particularly great gaming CPU, it will definitely be more of an issue with the GPU upgrade.

A cheap drop in upgrade to a 5800x3D and 32GB memory would make a huge difference.

I would sure hope so since it's coming off 4k!=p Yeah I was referring to 1440p and 1080p for that(although why would anyone use DLSS and FSR at 1080p blows my mind).

Not a terrible price - obviously not the value king Ampere was but after some nasty ass inflation the past couple years, I could live with that.

On nvidia's website it has the 4070, 4060 and 4050 on the left filter bar but no items. Wonder if there will be a reference card.

Still looking like my next card will be a used 3090 for ~700€.

I grabbed a new 3090 FTW3 around Black Friday for a little over $700 and have been super happy with it as a 4K card for a couch setup.

Shader comp. stutter aside, the 24gb vRAM paired with 32gb RAM seem to have mitigated the problems people have been reporting with some of the big AAA ports lately.

So if I'd sell my used 3070 (non TI) I'd have to pay around 300 on top. That sucks.
Probably better to wait for a 4060 TI if I don't wanna be limited to 8GB of VRAM anymore and do a sidegrade.

4060 ti is going to be a real POS. 8GB RAM on a 128bit bus. And probably 500 dollars to boot.

I'm assuming there's a typo in there somewhere. This card is literally going to be 3070 performance (and might lose in certain scenarios).

250W is the most attractive thing for me. I might bite.. my 2070 just groan in agony everytime I play something new nowadays

These things also undervolt a lot. I cut 100 watts off my system draw with the 4070 ti.

Basically under full stress, my entire computer draws 385 watts from the wall at stock settings. With an undervolt, it draws 285 watts from the wall. And most games aren't pegging the gpu @ 100 percent, so it's way lower than that in practice.

My 8Gb 3070 was 609€ and it was well worth The price in December 2021. Does this card compare to 40 generation like 3070 did?

Can't tell if it's better to go for this card for the DLSS and cheaper price or just get a 7900 XTX for the much higher VRAM and not have to be worried about it.

Incoming $400 RTX 4050 that can only match RTX 3050 but consumers buy it because of DLSS 3.0

Well my 2070 super was $550 new, so I guess this is closer to normal? I feel like the whole 40xx series is kind of a dud though compared to the 30xx series

Not a bad price all things considered if true. My RX 480 8GB is like moldy cheese at this point. I do have a 3070 laptop that works well enough so I'm sitting out until 5000 series. Hoping price/$ will be better by then (it probably won't).

I've been out of the PC game for a while, are there any decent cards that can be had for $200-400? I remember the last time I built a PC I did the whole thing for $800 in 2014 and it's still running today. Seems like this GPU would cost the same as my last PC and that seems ridiculous.

The 3070 was $500 while massively skimping on VRAM. Given the level of inflation over the last 2 years, this has to be the best case scenario for pricing. Pricing at the same tier was never going to be static. A $100 increase is reasonable especially considering the x80 got a $500 increase.

Expecting a $500 price was a complete fantasy.

well now we know why the upper end was so high, you can justify anything when comparing to that.
That's kind of how inflation works.

sure but nothing is in a vacuum. while GPU prices have been skyrocketing, the PS3, 4 and 5 all launched within the 400-600 dollar price range. a PS5 digital is 400 bucks right now.

and people definitely cross shop these things.

Plenty of options on the used market, especially if you're willing to consider AMD.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti Detailed Specs Sheet Leaks

It turns out that NVIDIA has not one, but two new GeForce RTX 40-series "Ada" SKUs on the anvil this January. One of these is the RTX 4070 Ti, which we know well to be a rebranding of the RTX 4080 12 GB in the face of backlash that forced NVIDIA to "unlaunch" it. The other as it turns out, is...

Yes, the 6700XT. It's a decent leap above the GPU in both consoles and available for $350 with 12GB VRAM

Oh I don't know if I trust used cards. Hard to tell how hard they've been used. I don't mind AMD though, my current rig has an RX 580.
For used just avoid ones being mined on and plus I wouldn't worry about condition as much since these used cards came out in 2020-2021 so there's still a lot of life to them.

7700 XTX: A massive price increase but less VRAM and up to DLSS 2.0 competitor.
Lol, that would be the worst outcome.

Least it has 12GB. Nvidia trying to sell the 4060 for $500 with 8GB's is going to be the real spicy meme.

You won't be bottlenecked at 1080p60 on anything with that cpu and this GPU. Outside of the path tracing tech demos coming. Hell, this GPU is overkill, it's around a 3080 ti from last gen, and i used that with a 9600k and could play most games at 4k60 with normal DLSS.
You're going to be shocked at how big of an upgrade it is. Hopefully there's a founders edition and good stock of it at launch so you don't have to pay more than MSRP.
Pretty excited, hope the rumor pans out and I can snag one when it drops
