Got mine last night. I thought it was busted at first because I had such a hard time getting the SD Card in. It finally stayed in though.

Otherwise, I am absolutely loving it. Well worth the wait.

If the Sega Mega CD was just extra storage for the Mega Drive, doesn't this mean that if the upcoming Mega Drive/Genesis mini allows adding ROMs then Mega CD ROMs would work on it?

I think the Mega CD was more than just storage for the Mega Drive (edit: It did have a faster processer than the Mega Drive but I don't think it was really utilized. Krejlooc would know). However, if you can add roms to the Mega Drive Mini it will probably just work due to the onboard power of the device. The NES Mini can play Mega CD games.

Hey I have no horse in this race but moving from EU to Andorra just before you start shipping something is really scummy and hilarious at the same time :lol

I'm still on the fence about buying this (but if I got it as a gift I wouldn't be mad).

I'd be keen to play the light gun shooters once the DAC is released.

Cheers, that's what I figured. I was just wondering why somebody would pay the premium for this, unless it offers perfect reproduction or improved performance.

The Mega SD paired with an actual Mega Drive or Mega SG will offer a near perfect reproduction due to the use of FPGA technology. Sega Mini will use a software emulation solution that could be good but not great.

It really depends on how accurate you want your experience to be. For most people it probably isn't that important.

Got mine in today and I am loving it. Played a lot of Popful Mail since I always wanted to try it. Used the fan patch that restores the difficulty back to the Japanese version.

Mine comes in tomorrow, so excited for it. It'll be my 2nd Terraonion product, I also have a Super SD System 3 for my PC Engine which I love.

Spent a good afternoon playing with it, and delving into some Shining Force CD since I've always wanted to. I've had an Everdrive MD V1 for years which required reset saves so being able to be super lazy is <3.

So impressed with this thing, I feel like the details about where to place BIOS files etc aren't actually in the manual though. Or I'm blind.

probably the latter.

I do want a SSD3 eventually as well but ho boy that price. But like the Mega SD I'm sure it's worth it 100%.

So basically, if I want an accurate modern Genesis setup that is both comprehensive and simple, this + a mega sg is pretty all encompassing? Cause that's my latest plan.

Now that the DAC exists it even supports 32X games, so there's really nothing you can't play on it. I think the only thing, amusingly enough, this doesn't support is Virtua Racing -- though this and the default firmware for the Mega SG don't, to my knowledge, support 32X CD games yet, since the CD expansion port connector for that I don't think is available.

I can live with that.

Checking further, the only 32X CD games that aren't available on, like, PC right now are Fahrenheit (which was published by Sega) and Surgical Strike (whose 32X release was only in Brazil)

Was playing Snatcher and noticed the black would sometimes be solid green or brown. Only game doing that.

I have been playing Snatcher for a couple of hours and I did not have that issue.

I however had the problem that the game hangs in certain scenes for some time trying to load some audio files. Similar to the issue many emulators have with this game. I think it is related to a failure to detect the end of the disk.

So the last email I got from terraonion said it was sent to DHL for processing and that the processing could take up to 3 weeks. Today is 3 weeks to the day they sent the last update. Now, when I got my Super System SD3 from them, their tracking never updated, it just showed up at my door, so I'm not surprised I still have no tracking on my MegaSD from them, but I'm seriously hoping it shows up in the next day or two.

I got my shipping e-mail on August 3rd and today it finally shipped. Didn't get a DHL e-mail, the tracking just magically updated that it left Andorra and now Spain. Expected delivery date is Thursday, August 29. If you got a shipped e-mail after the 3rd of August then that's why. If you're new to flash carts, this is standard fair for newly launched items. That doesn't mean you have to like it.

So, stupid question from an uneducated gamer: if I get this for a mega sg, can it load roms a la everdrive, or do you have to swap constantly? And on that matter, does the mega sg upscale cd games too?
Sorry for the question

Yes, the Mega SD can load both SEGA CD games as well as Mega Drive ROMs (also 32X ROMs but that requires an actual 32X to be connected to your console).

The Mega SG will display CD games in the same way as it does standard Mega Drive games. Basically the Mega SD is treated by the Mega SG like a normal Mega Drive game.

Thanks! I used OG hardware until my crt died and I'm trying to get up to speed in hd solutions.

Does the MEGA SD require a particular folder structure for roms and/or bios files? I assume I need to find the Sega CD bios on my own?

Hey, hey.

Porn is prohibited here.

Reported.

My Sega CD collection consists of 2X Sonic CD, US and Japanese versions.

Most of the good games are so fucking expensive nowadays, wish I got into this train when I started collecting back then. :lol

Nice! Mine still hasn't moved yet. I ordered on 7/23 and got my tracking number on 8/11. When the SSDS3 goes back on sale I'm gonna wait and get it from Stone Age Gamer because this crap is insane.

All my Sega/Japanese Mega CD games have been ripped and are just sitting on my hard drive ready to be transferred to a micro sd card. I did test out my rip of The Ninja Warriors on an emulator and man that Zuntata cinema had me cracking up. Also noticed that Dennin Aleste has different explosion sounds for the weaker enemies when compared to Robo Aleste.

I ordered July 24th and the SD finally arrived today! Took long enough but I'll be finally digging into it later tonight with the Mega SG.

This is taking its sweet time! Tbh I'm just tempted of cancelling the order, and buy a model1 instead. Can I load the ripped game(s) from a sd card if I jailbreak my mega sg, having the mega cd? I don't wanna risk the hardware...
