The trailer for Octo Expansion depicted Agent 3 as a female squid but here they're male. I wonder if they can't decide or want to imply that 3 changes their gender on the fly.

Apparently you can select the gender of Agent 3 in the game
I know that; I was just wondering if they're canonically making 3 gender fluid since they've been shown as both now in promotional material, where people like 8 have always been shown as female.
Callie and Marie look like they're ready for a night on the town. I'd love to see them get new idol costumes someday

No more so than they are racial fluid, in that it's a create-a-character you pick at the beginning.
Everyone looks soooooo good in that image! Marina and Marie rocking those looks! Pearl and Callie look awesome too! And the female Agent 8 and male Agent 3 work those outfits so well!
Oh hey by the way everyone should totally choose Team Squid so that Team Octopus can actually have a chance of winning.

That's funny, because I'm the opposite. I have a feeling they're gonna make this Splatfest canonical to the story, and I want Marina to win lol.
That's not happening anytime soon, but I thought they let you become one with or without the expansion for this event.
You automatically become an Octoling when you go into a match. AFAIK you can't be one in the plaza without the expansion.
You can always skip any levels you can't beat. Heck, I'm pretty sure you could skip the whole game haha.
The map for this splatfest has an issue with clipping, on that one platform next to the sponge and the tentacle you defend on the left mid area

To be fair. It was mostly just one person that everyone kept quoting, mostly eveyone didn't think like that.

2 of my 3 matches as an Octo are Squid vs Octo. I guess there's more Squids than I thought!

First ever splatfest, was a fun run tonight, glad I got to be part of it. Hope I get to play more tomorrow.

That's because everyone is playing on the team Spanning from 9yrs-12yrs old because nobody on my teams have no way of knowing how to play games, it's like they are shooting the air
Four matches that are guaranteed wins but the team throws for no reason in the last twenty seconds. Team Octo is suicidal I guess....

A lot of lost matches for me so far. I didn't know Walleye Warehouse was back, that was fun to see.
Yeah, but I think the matchmaking in Splatoon 1 splatfests were faster and more successful (it takes several tries for me to find all players and start a match).
I thought it was because I play the japanese version without being in Japan, but my Wii U was japanese and I didn't had any problems.
Maybe I remember it wrong or maybe they changed something in how the matchmaking is done...
