yeah, I ordered one and no I did not have any import fees because they (analog) commit .... mild fraud and declare the super NT as being worth just 10$. I imagine this will work until someone at customs does research on what they are and determines the real cost of the device. I'm not complaining either , just saying it might not stay free forever. So any Canadians here order one? Were there any crazy import fees once it got to our side of the border?
If it's not updating, the card isn't formatted Fat32, the firmware isn't in the root, firmware renamed, bad checksum.. no, it doesn't click when inserted. Check the formatting, make sure it's in the root, i.e. D:/<firmware>, download it again. What size is the mem card?Any idea why I'd be having issues trying to update the firmware? Just set it up tonight.
SD card was formatted on my Chromebook (which should have been in FAT32), firmware file is in the slot, but boots up normally instead of updating,
I'm assuming the SD card slot isn't supposed to "click" or anything once it's fully inserted, like some laptops?
How long was the shipping time to Canada just out of curiosity?yeah, I ordered one and no I did not have any import fees because they (analog) commit .... mild fraud and declare the super NT as being worth just 10$. Mine shipped out on a Friday afternoon and it was delivered Monday morning. How long was the shipping time to Canada just out of curiosity?
Yeah I can mirror that shipping time from Fuzzy, it left vegas on a friday and made it here on a monday, I had some mild difficulty obtaining it though and ended up getting it at my work on a tuesday. So , assume 3 days and make 100% sure your address info is correct and that someone will be there to receive it OR set up a drop somewhere and go collect it yourself. How long was the shipping time to Canada just out of curiosity?
Looking for opinions on best way to play FF VI on my jailbreak, any thoughts on a best version/translation? Or should I just stick with the original
Never played the game before
Holy crap, that's fast...I guess I'll go ahead and do it this afternoon.Yeah I can mirror that shipping time from Fuzzy, it left vegas on a friday and made it here on a monday, I had some mild difficulty obtaining it though and ended up getting it at my work on a tuesday. That actually does look fairly slick...no regrets getting a black one on my end!
A bit of shameless self-linking, but I spoke to Christopher from Analogue recently after toying with the Super NT for a while - not much here will be new to anyone in this thread, I don't think, but you might find the chat fun/interesting anyway: https://www.vg247.com/2018/04/06/super-nt-nt-mini-analogue-hd-interview/
He talks about and hints towards Mega Drive/Genesis in the future once again, and while I don't go into it much in the article we spent quite a while nerding out about shit like the difference between the Mega Drive 1/2/3 sound chips and how FPGA could be used to switch between them. We also nerded out about the idea for a CPS2 machine. One thing they seem keen to explore is actually working with the rights holders/publishers of the original products, too. Hopefully that comes through. Sega are always super willing to license out the mega drive name/games/characters out to low-rent companies, so a deal with Analogue for something officially licensed doesn't seem completely nuts...!
Nice... I got a black one and don't regret it at all. It looks fantastic in person.Edit: done! It seems like I'm one of the few not bothered by getting a black one.
What can being officially licensed bring that going the route they took with Super NT brings?A bit of shameless self-linking, but I spoke to Christopher from Analogue recently after toying with the Super NT for a while - not much here will be new to anyone in this thread, I don't think, but you might find the chat fun/interesting anyway: https://www.vg247.com/2018/04/06/super-nt-nt-mini-analogue-hd-interview/

They can model the shell and controllers identically (or minified)What can being officially licensed bring that going the route they took with Super NT brings?
Business-wise, I'd imagine that makes it pretty easy to get onto Wal-Mart shelves. For us, it might open the door to Sega CD and 32X stuff. Maybe?

Bundle games on the unit similar to Super Turrican except, you know, the BIG ones (love you Turrican but you know what I mean), which would make it much easier to sell at retailers, doing larger runs, reducing costs, etc..
Backing from Sega marketing, PR, manufacturing, etc, etc.. (Don't forget Analogue is like half a dozen people or less, it is amazing what they've been able to do at that size)
kevtris would likely have access to specs and docs, unclear how big of a dent this makes at this point, but I'm sure it helps over just plain reverse engineering.
I finally got my Super Game Boy 2 to try out on the Super NT. Is this thing supposed to have such a huge amount of input lag? I can't test it on my real system as I only have an Australian PAL and a US NTSC model and I can't load the japanese cart on either (without modifying them). Is this just the SGB2, or is it the NT? The same games on my gameboy have no input lag but on the NT they're almost unplayable.
Who even knows. It is purely speculation at this point. Analogue and/or Sega could go a ton of different directions. So, not something like what we have now with the Super NT. I kinda like that model, and not going mass market with a lower quality item.
Oh I know. I'm just saying. I'd rather them keep with the same plan as they did with the Super NT.Who even knows. It is purely speculation at this point. Analogue and/or Sega could go a ton of different directions.
No reason they also couldn't do a special "Analogue" styled box though. They put out 4 shells for the Super Nt after all, and not unlike them to do weird stuff (gold plated nt)
What can being officially licensed bring that going the route they took with Super NT brings?
Taber: "A software emulator can never be that exact. It's not running on real hardware, it doesn't run or function on the transistor level."
But the Super NT isn't running at a transistor level of accuracy either?
.. lol, I was about to see if you wanted to match up and play some multi-player! lol. X-band anyone? lolGot my copy of Super Tennis, fun ass game but man is it hard. First cart I've had that fits REALLY snug in the SNT. I thought I was gonna bust the thing pulling it out...

Did you figure this out? Am considering this exact setup myself
Same here. No issues with my SGB2 + Super NT.FWIW, I have an SGB2 and I've noticed no input lag when using it with the Super NT.

In Japan now considering buying a Famicom and FDS because I'm having doubts about ever getting an Analogue NES System or Super Nt core. :(
I did however get a bunch of special chip games for cheap while I was here. I love Super Famicom game prices!
Got FFIV, Chrono Trigger, FFV, and Seiken Densetsu 3 for $10 in a bundle at the Super Potato in Nagoya.
Can't wait to get home and play them on a giant TV.

Changed save to sd to only operate when it detects a carttype that has saveram.
Fixed sram init bug.
Reverted cache invalidation change. Looks like it's not the cause of problems.
Has anyone heard if Kevtris is planning to add any additional features to the SNT?
It doesn't have something like SD loading though, right?
I would prefer that feature but I guess I could go without.
I'll look into it.
I haven't seen 8bitdo address it in anyway so chances are it is still a problem. I do agree it is a good convenience controller and the wireless receiver can be used with stuff like the Wii U Pro controller so having it opens a bunch of options. And might as well get the bundle (receiver+controller) as the cost of the receiver by itself doesn't add up, imo.Is it safe to assume that the SN30's still have the d-pad issues? I have OG SNES pads, however for the sake of convenience I'd like to have a wireless option too. I guess I can just use my SF30 Pro and re-pair it when I want to use it w/ my Pi, but it would be nice to just have the "pick up and go" option out of the box.
Yes, but you can mitigate it by putting tape over the contacts to better match the original pad's (example - there are plenty more you can look up as well). It takes a bit of adjusting to get it right (if done incorrectly, which is pretty much unavoidable on your first go, it will either have no effect or lack sensitivity), but it's worth doing even if not a perfect solution. Is it safe to assume that the SN30's still have the d-pad issues? Some people also suggest swapping the dpad with an original SNES one (or raising the SF30's slightly), but I can't speak to this fix. The original SNES controller was designed so that each cardinal direction had two tabs required for input. This cut down on erroneous diagonals. The SF30 just has one per cardinal direction, making it easier to trigger diagonals but leading to more frequent false responses. The Switch Pro controller had the same issue. Presumably, it's a mix of design problems causing the diagonal issue - PCB desgin, membrane design, d-pad height - and all you can do is experiment with fixing these until you get desired results.
