That reminds me of latest Activision physical releases. They have only 150-200mb file on disc and you download the whole game as a title update. I hope this doesn't happen to Sekiro as well. :(

Is that confirmation though? One of the sites is clearly wrong, but which one? I agree that 48 is probably the correct one, but how do you know which one is right?

That seems to be the case, Xbox digital is 43 GB and physical copies still needs to download that amount, PS4 digital is about 89 GB.
RDR2 came with 2 discs, day 1 patch was like 5 GB.
It's the official website. I prefer to believe official sources.
Thank God for RDR2's developers being smart and using more than one disc. Not worrying about appearances.

So... Why on earth is the PS4 install size double that of Xbox/PC? It seems like the "day one" patch is basically a re-download of the entire game, but I just don't get whats up with Playstation here.

You can have high-speed internet and still criticise this because it's absurd.
Whatever the size is, let me be clear i don't like at all we have patch downloads like the size of an entire game, even "just" 50 Gb to download is way too much.
I thought he meant total install was 90 GB. So the games not on the disc?
This doesn't explain the PS4 situation, but we've seen online games where a patch requires re-downloading the entire game. Seems like they went gold and then found something too big to patch via small update.

That's a possibility seeing as how Physical copies on Xbox still need to download the full game, the double download size (even for digital) on PS4 still doesn't make sense though.
For me it was a must buy but this is where I'm at now, they're doing their best to push me away, 100GB is just ridiculous! I can't.

I'm on a fast, uncapped connection, but I am still annoyed when I have to download patches this size. Maybe the gold master is corrupted or something requiring a full download.

Often these huge games have uncompressed audio, longish cutscenes, multiple languages etc
Devs and publishers know they don't necessarily need to be efficient with space anymore, so this is mostly cost saving really. You don't believe the 20 GB of videos in Tekken 7 for example make the game somehow look better, do you?

at this point there isn't one. or at least not for this type of game if you want to play day 1... same with Destiny, Anthem, et al. still a lot of pros going physical but here not so much
There isn't one for any of these GAAS games. You're going to be downloading a large patch every month with these kinds of games anyway.
In Australia the physical is about $60 digital is $100 both are the standard version.
