what's the over under on bodies Joel is catching tonight? I think 5.5 is a fair threshold

Jerry, Marlene, guard whose balls Joel blows off for info are for sure. Locked in.

At least one more doctor alongside Jerry getting got as well I think. I'm at 3 and a strong possible.

I can see Joel having a confrontation with the Fireflies who respond to the alarm that goes up when Joel kills the guard. Maybe 1 or 2 more get got.

I don't really see them having Joel go Rambo in the hospital, so I'll take the under at 5. Several major murders including a doctor or two, enough mayhem and collateral violence to get across how far Joel is willing to go, but not so crazy that it becomes an action cartoon (+ save on budget)

Surprisingly my wife wanted to watch the show. So far she's two episodes into the show and she loves it. It's hard for me to put together an honest opinion on the show. I have nearly 500 hours of campaign time between the two games. So when someone, without all of that experience with the series, tells me that the show is great... it's nice to hear.
I said it before the show aired, I'll listen to the opinions of those not familiar with the game, because obviously those of us who already played the game, probably several times, won't be hit as hard by the story and can only comment on how well adapted it is, rather than how good the show is on its own. If people unfamiliar with the game say the show is great, then I'll take their word for it.

Definitely gonna kill the woman who lost her ear in Ep 1.

I'm going double digits.

What is this obsession with showing Abby in the first season? There is no need for that.
Especially when it's not even sure that they've found the right actress to play the role yet.

They aren't going to tease Abby in any way. I think there's a small chance we get some kind of scene with Jerry, but considering there's already a scene between him and Marlene in Part II that Abby is part of, I think it's entirely likely that we only see Jerry in the same spot we saw him in Part I, and we don't see or hear about Abby at all this season. Also doubt that Jerry is credited or referred to as anything other than "surgeon" (in the credits, etc.).

Remember, Jerry (or, rather, the surgeon, since we didn't know his name at the time) having a daughter is something that wasn't known until we learned it while playing Part II. The speculation about who the hell Abby is and why she does what she does to Joel is going to be as important to season two as it was to Part II, and they aren't going to try to give show-watchers even a small clue that she exists before they need to next season / in the trailers for next season.

Definitely gonna kill the woman who lost her ear in Ep 1.

I'm going double digits.
I'm confident that she's going to be the person who Marlene tells to escort Joel after he wakes up. And then, yeah, he kills her.

Zero. It's way more powerful to let that be part of the viewer's imagination then actually showing it. We know that Ellie had to kill 1 person before meeting Joel. That's more than enough
The show isn't exactly subtle and it's been many episodes and weeks since Ellie commented on her kill count. They'll remind the viewers.

Please please Neil and HBO make TLOU Part 2 in 3 seasons or more.

Go deep into the fireflies and expand the story to the max. This season felt so fast and part 2 is perfect for a more deep and long story.

ahead of the finale, my thoughts on the first season are mostly positive. It hits the most important markers dead on (setting depiction, Joel and Ellie execution, clear respect for source material)

I have some issues, most of them which exist in the games themselves, but I can agree that the TV adaption has largely taken advantage of the format to tell this story in a stirring way. Clearly it's resonating with audiences

Definitely looking forward to season 2.

Even if they somehow make a weak finale its been easily the best live action game adaptation and I expect the inevitable season 2 to continue this trend.

I think we will get some world expansion next season before getting into Part II proper. It's a four year gap in the game, lots of story to tell.

They would have to introduce whole new focal characters besides Ellie and Abby to justify a Fireflies tangent and three plus seasons. And if they do that it's no longer Part II. It's something else.

They said no to filling in the gaps, you might get some plot elements expanded on but it'll follow Part 2 pretty closely

Also it doesn't need to be 20 episodes, Part 2 had significantly worse pacing than Part 1 and while it's longer there's definitely not twice as much story, seeing as they said two seasons I'd hope 8+8 maximum

Drink and snacks on hand. Just finished rewatching the series. Ready to be sad one more time. At least until I get my new PC built and get sad all over again playing Part 1 finally.

I've loved this show. Probably the best 1st season of an HBO since Westworld (and I really like HotD as well). Most of my friends or colleagues, who are unfamiliar with the games, absolutely loved it so far and have it high up in their rankings. And watching it with some of them has been amazing. My favorite IP being loved on a differnt medium has been a trip - the best kind ;)
Can't wait for seasons 2. If there are two things I trust them with the most, it's Bella Ramsey and the casting director on this show. Some really inspired casting choices and really great acting all the way through.
The show isn't exactly subtle and it's been many episodes and weeks since Ellie commented on her kill count. They'll remind the viewers.
True, but the game wasn't really that subtle about this either. The only "reminder" will probably be Ellie's last monologue in which Riley is mentioned. There is no reason to mention her more than that.
The show has done a good job in teasing violence without going too much into details. Visually and in terms of storytelling.

It's so far beyond other live action game adaptations at this point. Barely feels like they belong in the same discussion.

It's lapping Arcane too, and I loved that.

The finale would have to historically disastrous to change that.
