It was really cool to see other mandolorians and to see a little bit of their social caste.

So hes gonna piece together a whole suit of pre-empire mandolorian armor throughout the whole season?

Sounds like he could probably do a whole suit just off this one bounty. Though I'm guessing part of the conflict will be him deciding not to deliver it.

Somewhat let down by the first episode. Way sillier than I was expecting. Intrigued enough to see more, though.

Death Star
Was surprised to see a Mandalorian coven on some planet.. be interesting to see how they explain what's happened to his people.

Music, excellent. Sound, excellent. I loved the stirrup noise when the Mandalorian walks.

Ending, crazy though unfortunately it had already leaked to the web so I knew it once I saw the ears.

Can't wait for ep 2 on Friday.

Loved it, just feels right.

Nails the OT look, really solid action, but just enough cheesiness to give it some personality and charm.

Man, if Season 1 is going to be a
Wolf and Cub action thriller with a Mandalorian and Baby Yoda
I am 200% in.

Something got in him. Because he quickly reacted to it and didnt think twice of the bounty. Maybe force persuasion?

I could have sworn I read somewhere that All of Yodas species was born force sensitive?

Not sure about that. It's possible, but that would also imply the baby is conscious enough to be able to do that. I think The Mandalorian just got rid of the IG because it said its mission was to terminate it (ie, it clearly got the bounty from someone else, since we know Herzog wanted it alive, preferably). Either way, I don't think it'd be especially weird for a bounty hunter to not want to turn in babies/kids.

It wasn't the strongest pilot episode I've ever seen, but it's solid and sets a good foundation to build on. I like the world they are presenting so far. The video gamey aspects made me want a game in this pocket of the universe really bad.

More than likely he doesn't like killing children (even though the baby is 40 years-old). It was hinted at his the flashbacks.

Caved and watched the first episode much to the frustration of my friends who I planned on watching along with tomorrow, this is downright heavenly. THIS is what I want from Star Wars now, side stories set elsewhere in the universe that don't involve the Skywalker lineage. It's what I always loved about the expanded universe books, games and comics and now I finally have a live action extended universe show that dives really deep into the bounty hunter underworld which is a pocket of the Star Wars lore that I have always adored. While some of the humor fell flat early on and there's some iffy effects work in places, I am so sold.

The show definitely relies on you having some established knowledge of the EU and phrases/concepts really only used therein and while that's not an issue for me personally, I could see people growing frustrated with it. In any event, this is so far up my alley that it's coming out of my mouth. I am so fucking excited for the rest of the season.

Don't really agree. I mean sure if you have that knowledge you "get it" a bit more, but they give context to all the important terms. Like you understand the metal is special to his people and he makes his shit out of it, you understand credits are the currency, etc.

Huh? I don't think I agree with this. What aspects rely on knowledge of the EU?

Thing is tho baby yodas are probably too woke even at that age. Little fucker is probably talking and force levitating amd the whole 9.

When the Mandalorian was told
that his bounty was over the ridge, i groaned thinking...oh no, he's on Tatooine and the Sarlaac Pit is over that ridge, right?

I was sooooooo happy to be wrong! 🤭

Hard to say. We haven't really been exposed to very many individuals from this race. Just because Yoda is a super powerful force user, I wouldn't immediately assume every member of his race is the same. But we'll see. I am sure they'll explore it.

Favreau said they were not restricted to a specific runtime, so I wonder if next episodes will be longer or even shorter lol.

Yeah if it wasn't obvious enough the whole "What if he actually is Boba Fett?!" theory was shot out the window in the first half of the episode and thank the maker for that.

Midgar, With Love
Subtitles aren't working and I can't understand half of what anyone's saying :/

Sadly I had this issue on PS4 (though my headset made it fairly easy to understand the dialogue). It's gonna be a bummer if the captions still aren't functioning properly once the second ep drops, though, because that's when I'm showing the series to my roommates and one of them really struggles with this stuff.

Just finished, whoa! So good! Was not expecting the lighthearted tone, but I love it. The score is fantastic and the quips were spot on. The training bit was weird, but everything else was great.

I have spoken.

I don't know about this
Baby Yoda thing y'all.
It could turn out to be neat or really really stupid.

Also, I guess this means
Yoda and Yaddle fucked at some point

I should clarify, the show should be incredibly easy to follow in the broad sense given that the main plot is essentially "bounty hunter does bounty hunter stuff", it's stuff like Blurrgs, the inner workings of the Mandalorians and bounty hunters and the unlisted planets that I was thinking of though I suppose you are right in saying that enough context is given that people won't be unable to follow along, merely that they may feel a bit alienated by the use of some of the terms and words that aren't given context until later.

It doesn't necessarily need to be Yoda and Yaddle's offspring, there are more of that species kicking around somewhere, but I would be willing to assume that they're going to go that route anyways for the sake of fan fare.

They weren't the only ones of their species.

I didn't know most of that and followed just fine.

This shit was legit. I enjoyed it a lot. I might actually watch that list of CW episodes someone posted earlier lol. What are those again if anyone can link me?

Regarding ending spoiler
That's not really Master Yoda is it? Who the hell is that? Same species, which AFAIK is not named. And what the hell was Taika saying that it needed to be killed? Didn't the dude tell the mandalorian that he would get paid less if they didn't bring it back alive?

I honestly don't give a shit about 36 mins. It was very well paced. Would I like it to be a bit longer? Sure, but not if it's gonna feel bloated like some of those Marvel shows on netflix and abc. Better to have it be 36 mins or whatever and be well paced.
