I don't thinks this is worth a new thread so...bump.

Sony publishes both games outside Japan and has an involvement on the production(Q&A, translation, marketing and other stuff).Just curious, did Team Ninja ever say why this series skips Xbox? Sony obviously pays for timed exclusivity. But they skip right over to Pc when the period is over.
Sounds to me like what they have done with the game Control. If you have the complete edition it's free but regular PS4 versions will need to pay.
Wait, am I reading this wrong? If you own Nioh 2 without the DLC, you can pay an upgraded Nioh 2 Remastered without the DLC on PS5, right? Sounds standard.Yup, super gross move by them.
- Players that own Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition on PS4 can upgrade to Nioh 2 Remastered – The Complete Edition on PS5 at no additional cost.
- Players that own Nioh 2 on PS4 can upgrade to the base game – Nioh 2 Remastered on PS5, and receive the PS5 version of any DLC expansions they own on PS4.

I misspoke. I meant that you do NOT have to pay. Per your quote: " Players that own Nioh 2 on PS4 can upgrade to the base game Nioh 2 Remastered"No, paid upgrades are not the standard nor should they be. The upgrade should be free for vanilla owners.
I think the confusion is because they mention "no additional cost" only for the complete edition.I misspoke. I meant that you do NOT have to pay. Per your quote: " Players that own Nioh 2 on PS4 can upgrade to the base game"
What about this implies you have to pay an additional fee?
Cross save is supported so very likely no.
It will be absurdly cheap: 110 yen for the base game + 22 yen for each piece of DLC.
Only Nioh 2, probably since it's more recent and they feel more pressure of giving the upgrade for free since people are still buying it and content is being released for it.So if I already have Nioh 1 Complete on PS4 AND Nioh 2 with the Season Pass, I should get the complete PS5 Remaster of both games for free?

Wait really? I didn't know it was a free upgradeNioh 2 is on sale for $10 NOW at all major retailers if anyone wants to grab it before the free upgrade in February.
It's not quite free in Japan (but still very cheap). We don't really know about other territories.

$6.66 at Target after B2G1 sale combined with the sale price.Nioh 2 is on sale for $10 NOW at all major retailers if anyone wants to grab it before the free upgrade in February.
This is nothing like control.Yup, super gross move by them.

I've never played Nioh and I'm even more unsure about where to start now. I have a PS5 DE, so
I guess my main question is whether the DLC for either game is essential. If not I think the best option is to buy Nioh 2 PS4 and take my chances with the upgrade. Anybody who's played both games and DLC able to recommend the best way to jump in?
- I could buy Nioh PS4 for around £17 (the Complete edition is currently on sale). But no upgrade path.
- I could buy base Nioh 2 on PS4 (currently on sale for around £30) and wait for the upgrade, but we don't know if it will be free.
- I could wait and buy Nioh 1 or 2 Complete editions on PS5 for £50
- I could buy the complete collection on PS5 for £70 (probably not doing this).
- I could buy base Nioh 2 on PS4 (currently on sale for around £30) and wait for the upgrade, but we don't know if it will be free.
The DLC unlocks three new regions (the base game has 6-7 of these) and three new, harder difficulty levels (plus two new weapon types and some other stuff). Basically, if you end up liking the base game enough to keep playing a lot after being done with the final boss, you'll want the DLC.I guess my main question is whether the DLC for either game is essential. Maybe I read wrong, but everyone gets their free update for PS5 respective to their bought version. So if you buy Nioh Complete for PS4 now, you get that for PS5. Also for Nioh 2.
Note that it's almost free in Japan: 110 yen for the base game and 22 for each of the 3 pieces of DLC.

I'm pretty sure that picture you posted was what you could get for pre-ordering the game. The Deluxe Edition comes with the Season Pass, the Demon Horde weapons and a Kodama Netsuke charm.
Ay, thank you bro for that awesome clarification! I'll wait until the Complete Edition comes out in February.I'm pretty sure that picture you posted was what you could get for pre-ordering the game. The Deluxe Edition comes with the Season Pass, the Demon Horde weapons and a Kodama Netsuke charm.
The Complete Edition will have both sets of bonuses (... well, maybe not the theme and the PSN avatar set mentioned in that picture, actually). So you should probably wait for that one. In fact, if you just want the armor set, you don't have much of a choice.
...WEll then.Team Ninja has confirmed the the physical release will be Japan only. Sucks.
You need to own the DLC to get them for the PS5 version. So if I purchase the physical version of Ni-Oh 2 for the PS4 I'll automatically get the complete edition with the DLC on PS5 free of charge? There's no upgrade fee?
Alright thanksYou need to own the DLC to get them for the PS5 version.
So basically you only get what you own.
