More bailouts coming to farmers to make sure they keep voting for him. Thought these guys didn't like socialism?

I understand the history of it- and how it's evolved and indeed he didn't didn't invoke God because in the political and intellectual circles he orbits, the idea that it's a religious justification is considered weak and subject to more direct and simplistic rhetorical rebuke. I'm not suggesting he should have, more observing that even when painted fully into a corner by his own argument he had no further appeal to authority. He couldn't even leave footprints in the paint. That's part of why he hung up. His argument for his right to be there had no justification beyond "smart." He did a terrible job even invoking standard zionist reasoning.

His argument has no basis that's not religious, otherwise the Israelis should find those among the Arab population who have the most Canaanite or Philistine heritage in them, because the land really belongs to them before the Hebrews wandered in and conquered it.

This land is my land by history argument only works if you say it's because God declared that land to be your exclusive land above all other claims.

Look, if Beto, Abrams, Hickster et al flame out after Iowa, there is still plenty of time for them to run for Senate.

They're going to spend government money bailing out farmers and then donate the produce abroad? Lolwut?
He has to.

MI and PA plus IA gets the Democrat over 270 without even having to worry about WI, AZ, NC, ME-02, anything.
Estimate on how many senate seats Dem lose in 2020?
Lose? Very likely none besides AL, which will be canceled out by CO. Sununu declined to run against Shaheen in NH, and Gary Peters in MI has been raising beaucoup bucks in a state that snapped back to us.

Otherwise, we have no remotely vulnerable seats. Where is this coming from?

Just general pessimissm for the day.

Also, this man is the head of the Senate Judiciary Committee and he is telling a private citizen to ignore a subpenis.

I'm not confused by the bailout, I'm confused by his idea of sending it to starving foreigners abroad. There's no ongoing famine anywhere AFAIK and the last thing developing agriculture-based economies need is the dumping of ag products.

I really hope Dems win IA in 2020 though.

Or non-farmers. See that poor dude who posted here the other day whose family business is fucked due to the tariffs.
Yup. I think people are catching on, too. Tariffs aren't helpful. From anecdotal news reporting, even farmers don't particularly like this band-aid, but Trump's just going to keep hurting people, and ultimately his own reelection chances, until he can somehow 'beat' China.

It's probably not gonna happen and he's almost certainly just talking out of his ass.

Trump coming off a little socialist today. The Dem Primary is moving the Overton window!

This just shows how poor Dems are at messaging. They could make hyperbolic statements about Trump brining "Socialism to the Midwest" and at minimum create a "both sides" element and muddy the waters on the GOP's socialism attack. But of course Dems don't know how to do this or they're not comfortable vilifying farmers publicly the way the GOP has no problem attacking voters.

I don't know why people don't make it more of a talking point that Beto got more votes in his 2018 Senate race than any democrat to ever run in the state of Texas, presidential or not. Particularly in reference to his loss to Cruz.

He's not helping farmers either. Plus, with spring weather patterns changing so much, farmer's markets are seeing low attendance and/or getting washed out by the weather.

Source: father-in-law is a farmer

Because they aren't attacking him in good faith. It's like the Gina Ortiz thing. They attack Beto for not endorsing formally, but don't think about how she would have gotten destroyed without him on the ticket. Things will go much worse for her in 2020 I'm sure unless Beto is the nominee. Every day I see a new negative headline pop up about Beto. There's one writer from politico that does one negative Beto headline a week it seems like.

I watched Knock Down the House last night. AOC really is something special!
It's a great documentary and the filmmakers were fortunate to be following AOC so early. Her gift for rhetoric is apparent even in the earliest meetings she had before being in the thick of the primary race. She's effortlessly inspiring.

I could be wrong, but I believe Beto would have to register for the Texas Senate race by this December.

I genuinely don't understand why any of these 4 are running for president, especially Hickenlooper or Bullock.

They saw a wide-open field. There was no one standing there with the muscle to force everyone out. Even Biden's support is likely soft. There's no Hillary Clinton figure in the race to scare people off.

So basically what you're saying is that Hillary Clinton needs to get back in this thing.

Beto, maybe. He was riding off momentum. Abrams, maybe...but we don't even in know if she's running yet. But Hickenlooper and Bullock? They have no following and nothing to catapult them to the top.

Tbh Forma would still be #1 for me, but Hill would easily be #2.

They're probably thinking all they need is a good debate performance and they can start climbing the ladder. Or they're going for a cabinet post/VP. I couldn't tell you what those two are thinking.

I think Abrams is new enough at this that she doesn't know what she really wants. I think she's feeling cheated by Kemp and doesn't want to just settle for any path to power.

And if you look at Marco Rubio, someone who takes the Senate job because it's there and not because he wants it, you can see the problems it causes. Legislation suffers when people see the position as just a seat to warm while awaiting higher office.

So trending news is that trump plans to hijack July 4th holiday in dc where he has taken control of its plans and plans to make an address in front of Lincoln memorial and act like the crowd there for fireworks are there for him. He also plans to move the fireworks from the normal location to near the Potomac so he can give his address .
He plans to be the star of the event
