Manu Raju @mkraju

A number of Senate aides and senators are angry Paul did not go into isolation after he took the test or after he leaned about the positive cases at the event he was at. Instead, he continued on with his schedule, attending GOP lunches, going to gym, etc

"You'd think Dr. Paul would have better judgment than to needlessly put his colleagues - many of whom are in the high-risk category - at potential risk of exposure," one Senate source says

.@VP: The CDC tomorrow is going to issue new guidance which will make it possible for people who have exposed to the coronavirus to return to work more quickly by wearing a mask for a certain period of time.

This won't backfire. Literally anything to save the economy.

I don't understand why the administration wants to die on this hill. I'd have thought free testing would have been harder to get text them to ok.

In terms of the Biden VP discussion, probably a reach, but other possibilities, more for just throwing names out there than anything at this point that haven't been said, would maybe be someone like Cortez Masto (or Rosen)? Nevada's pretty safe at this point, but could work.

NYT headline is comical, but they do have the text right next to it saying its for worker protection/small business.

"Exactly as planned by the editors" becomes more and more my thoughts on this.

That last tweet by Biden, pointing out that it was young people that bore the brunt of the last crisis, it really nice to see. There's been a complete lack of discourse about the winners/losers from the Great Recession that Democrats never had and we have to get around because it's fundamental to politics even in the era of global pandemic and depression.

Better than the wierd milennial vindictiveness from 2019.

Also, since we know that Biden's going to be picking a woman for his running-mate, kinda (pleasantly) surprised I haven't seen much (or any, for that matter) trolling over "WHAT IF HE PICKS HILLARY CLINTON? WHAT IF?????" anywhere, at least not yet.

Warren as VP isn't worth the possibility of not taking the Senate, however small. Biden should offer her a senior policy advisor position, cabinet selection input, and specific policy concessions from her platform for her endorsement.

Kind of disagree that blue states need the most help. The red states just don't know it yet. Looking at you, Florida.

I'd like Harris, but I don't know. I think Amy might get the nod. Jill hasn't forgotten Harris' takedown and is still clearly bitter about it (what a ride or die wife though).

I think a Governor makes more sense though if "Day One readiness" is a top priority.
In terms of that, people talk about Whitmer, because Michigan, which makes sense, but she's ruled herself out regardless.

Assuming that's true and going with Governors... chances of someone like Kate Brown I guess? Like obvious Oregon doesn't move the needle in any way, but she definitely meets the "day one readiness" standard with her experience, if that's the prime criteria.

Trump refusing to use the Defense Production Act shoots down the argument that he'll become a fucking national socialist lol.

Is that how this works? Schumer would just become majority leader for a bit?

That doesn't seem right
It's be some stellar writing from whoever is running the simulation, and peak 2020 to boot
The Dems would have to vote on it and since Trump is still president and the Republicans could come back literally afterwards to re-elect McConnell, it's a nice idea but really doesn't mean much of anything ultimately. Democrats have much more important things to attend to anyways.

Chances that present D's outnumber present R's shortly? High.

Chances that D's stage a coup? Zero. Even if they tried, you'd have pubs coming back from self-quarantine to stop them.
Apparently only an absolute majority of senators can request a rules change or to replace the Majority Leader. Let me do a little more digging.

Hear me out

Wait until 30 Republican Senators are in self-quarantine

Pass impeachment articles for both Trump and Pence out of the House immediately

Declare majority in the Senate when Democrats hold a 2-1 majority, immediately hold conviction vote for both and remove them

Temporarily appoint Elizabeth Warren as Speaker of the House so she ascends to the presidency

Dems having a majority because some Republicans are in quarantine would not be a "coup". Annoying that the word gets bandied about so much recently when it has a very specific and appropriately frightening meaning.

Interesting. But, doesn't that also mean that McConnell can't allow remote voting without getting dems with him?

No need to be so literal.

Fauci: "I can't jump in front of the microphone and push him down." He says he does what he can - tell the "appropriate people" who can advise Trump not to repeat things. (Still, Fauci has done more live-correcting than literally anyone who's appeared with Trump since 2017.)

Journalist Jon Cohen to Fauci: What Trump said about China, transparency and the virus timeline just doesn't comport with the facts.
