I just find a lot of the time here you can't have even a slightly differing opinion on any topic without being dogpiled such as anyone like myself who actually likes the epic games store.

Moderation is way too heavy handed too it leaves little room for discussion when bringing up something out of the popular opinion could very well get you banned.

I do like it here but there's a massive hive mind mentality.
So your solution is to go to the alt-right forum?
Uh yes? Look at my post history it rarely deviates from games. Maybe some comic books/MCU stuff and I stay clear from most hot topic discussions.

What a weird comment to make to someone coming to a predominantly video game forum.
Not weird at all. It's never only just about games dude, that's why you're going to an alt-right forum in the first place.

subreddits mostly. For a comparison of scale r/NintendoSwitch has 10-15k active readers/users at any one time. That's usually more people than the whole of Era. So topics there tend to move at a different speed, but it's not overwhelming because of the karma system tends to keep good posts up high and derails or attempts at derails downvoted.

So now your generalizing me as a person because of the forums I choose to visit? That's mighty small of you.

As I stated I just like video games and feel free to dig into my post history anywhere that's all i discuss. I shouldn't have to feel shamed because I visit.

If we are trying to be the better people here we should act like it

GAF, MetaCouncil, sometimes Giant Bomb forums... was checking out the Waypoint forums for a while a year or so ago but mostly stopped. I'll also still occasionally pop in at the firesofheaven.org forums (a community I had been following since like... 1999) for MMORPG news and rumors.

You're arguing with someone who has already made up their mind.

Nothing, actually. Just this place. I was a member of the GameFAQs community for a long time before I joined NeoGAF, and I swapped out NeoGAF for ResetEra during The Great Migration.

don't know if we're "allowed" to talk about such but NeoGAF was decent as a less congested Era... for a while. but now it's just full on cray

I like visiting r/games. It used to be a cesspit of degeneracy, but the current mods are fantastic. They've really made it a better place.

I'm kinda feeling disillusioned by Era because all of the throat-jumping and instant judgment this forum has. I remember one incident where a Fortnite artist was accused of plagiarism (later turned out that the teenage accuser was orchestrating a scam), and people were being super rude and insulting to not just the artist, but also his friend on Era who tried to defend him. (Link)

Era is great as a progressive space, and I love how quick the mods are with banning any kind of sexist/racist/anti-LGBT bullshit. I wish they were also as active at moderating people who use their identity as leftists and progressives as a sword to hit out at anyone and everyone.
Like, be human guys. Be kind and generous and forgiving. Don't be a judgmental arse to people you barely know. Like some of you are being in this thread right now.

None. This is the only one. I frequented the Bungie forums back in the peak Halo 3 days, then NeoGaf before the great migration.

Gamefaq for guides and terrible convos. Then Reddit if I want to see the decline in humanity over video games but avoiding it due to loldrama.

Do you have a link to this thread? I looked up "Overwatch artist accused of plagiarism" on google and couldn't find anything. Or are you referring to this?

Used to visit WeCraveGames, which was the spiritual successor to the Team XBOX forums, but now that's closed, so I'm occasionally at the other Team XBOX successor, UnionVGF, just to keep in touch with my friends from that whole lineage.

Whoops, I meant the Fortnite controversy. Let me fix the original post.

here's the thread link to it-

www.resetera.com

Fornite skin based off an artist's design (UPDATE: It was actually a fake stunt by the artist)

Final update: kid faked the whole thing. Crow was served that night, everyone hated it. art date september 3rd, skin revealed mid november. It's not clear if epic straight up copied this kid's design but I'm reporting in UPDATE: TOS 4. Copyright DeviantArt is, unless otherwise stated...

Didn't know reddit counted so that I suppose

Don't really participate in any other forums otherwise...

My solution is to go wherever I like.

I don't care for politics at all. Don't really care which way anyone leans.

I just care about the potential of being punished for not following the crowd.

I can and do respect anyone if they give it in return.

People are humans not political leanings.

This is games we're talking about here not brexit.

My thanks! As a victim of plagiarism, I was so eager to help the trickster out. I even participated after someone found out the picture was updated in 2019. I actually thought they just added a watermark to protect themselves. Oops.

I agree that some threads can turn intense, especially when people start swinging insults around. In this case it was an opportunity for some to bash Epic Games. Thankfully this site is cracking down on such behavior.

Anyways, back to the topic. The only other forum I browse is Reddit, namely the parts not filled with "alt-right" idiots.

Just this one, came here from GAF in 2017. Also used to frequent Naruto Forums back in the day, but I guess that doesn't count. They did have a gaming section tho.

Just here now. I was a regular on the Escapist for a very long time even after gamergate. I don't remember what was my final breaking point but I left it all behind.

Came here after MarzGurl posted the Change the Channel thread on her Twitter.

The trend seems to be moving away from large, multi-topic forums and more toward smaller, single theme places like Reddit, Discord, etc. It's hilarious when Era gets called a "bubble" when in reality you're more likely to get a diversity of comments and topics here than most places on the Internet.

Unless Reddit counts, Era is the only forum I use. I used to browse GAF, but never had an account, and that was before it became a rightwing hellhole / before Era was a thing.

Yes. If you keep posting to an alt-right forum than that means you're ok with those shitty people.

That makes you a shitty person.

Everything is political. The fact that you're ok going to an alt-right forum means you're a shitty person.

Imagine going through life with such a closed mind dude.

Yet your the one attacking people and calling them shitty or alt right without even knowing who I am or what I believe.

I started out at Gamespot many years ago. Moved to Cheapassgamer when I started college. (side note I really loved that community. It was my favorite place until the place went to hell). Then Gaf and now here.

Occasionally I will hit up reddit for specific stuff.

I used to utilize the forums over on TekSyndicate on occasion before Logan revealed himself as a d-bag and the company crumbled. I occasionally utilize LinusTechTips's forum for PC related questions and information, but other than that I stick here.

Ha whatever dude I don't want to argue with you. It's a forum. It has information I may want. It's just a tool.

That's all the Internet is. Information you don't have to agree with people's political lessons to read. If that was the case most education and literature would be banned.

Just because someone has views that may differ from yours does not make them a bad person.

I abide by the laws, do everything I can to show every person I interact with the respect they deserve and give everyone a fair chance. It is wrong to judge before truly getting to know somebody.

I'm going to leave this here because arguing the Internet is not worth anyones time.

Don't see where I said that at all but sure. Judge before you know me and put words in my mouth.

I am perfectly happy for politics to be in games. I can respect people that look for that.

I just personally have no interest.

As I said above I have no interest in getting into arguments online it's beneath me.

None really, but I do sometimes go to gamefaqs when I google "how to beat abc boss in xyz game" and the top answers are threads from there.
