As expected. 100%. And a great strategy :)

PS5 will be 399/499.
I think there's no way they devalue the core PS5 experience $100 just over the disc drive. They already said the disc drive isn't a high cost difference. If they can afford a disc less model for $399, they would have announced it. That's unbeatable for a flash ship next gen. No PS5 will be that cheap or else they'd have happily said so already with no fear.

And there we have it.

I think this is a good indicator of that 399/499 PS5 price point.

Those are great prices. I mean MS needs to come and officially announce this tomorrow, I don't think they can wait after all this info is out.

PS5 will be 399/499.
I'm still sticking with $499/$549.

If there's a $100 difference between physical and digital editions, it means that the physical edition only exists to make digital seem like better value; because that's certainly not representative of costs.

What if Microsoft just runs with this rumor and waits until Sony officially announces?

Good stuff. Was hoping for the the 299/499 duo and here it is. That series S is gonna be a hot item, especially if its bundled with gamepass

In retrospect, the first price announcement being a leak was clearly the most obvious scenario

XSX at 500 is fantastic news. It also confirms the PS5 at that price I would think.

Well there it is, solid price points.

I guessed $249 for Series S, $499 for Series X..I was close.

Sony launching above MS I can't imagine happening.

When you budget for $599 PS5 and XSX and they turn out to be $499

These feel like very good prices. Competitive for what's on offer.

Hopefully Sony similarly prices competitively.

I can't see the regular PS5 costing more than the XSX.

Sony should go 349/449 just for the petty! This is a great bar set by Microsoft, it can't be higher than 499 for either!

It's ludicrous to think the PS5 is going to be more expensive than the Series X. The XSX has the larger APU, it's the more expensive system to make.
Sorry, it's just my guess.

BOM =/= price for starters.
S has more to gain by selling at a bigger loss than Sony, who has everything neatly in place and does not need to make this kind of moves with the market share they have.
I think MS' xbox is in such a worse position then the PS5 that MS is selling it at a significant loss in order to make up for it. Not sure Sony needs to do the same.

But of.course , it's just my guess.

Hmmm now only if they had the software showing off the power of this thing. That's my biggest concern atm for these launch consoles.

Super conspiracy theory. Microsoft leaks info to get Sony to announce price so Microsoft can officially announce whatever price Sony might say that could be cheaper. Super conspiracy theory 2...Sony was hoping it could match Xbox at 599.

what I want to happen? I want both consoles at 499

Good price points. Don't expect PS5 to be able to go cheaper than that, that's for sure. Great approach by Microsoft if this is true.
