no, just spoken
yea any musical instrument created
Like what job ? Not more than a world class musician imo. Google translate will make languages obsolete I'm thinking . There's tons of people in Europe who speak 3-5 languages it doesn't really get you a specific jobI feel like being fluent in all languages would be a near guarantee of a high paying job. Instruments...no such guarantees, imo. So I pick languages.
I'd think a lot of places that conduct international businesses would highly value someone fluent in all languages, even in a non-official translator capacity. And I'd imagine translator roles at high levels (like the CIA) would really value this skillset. I guess for musicians, I'm thinking of the other end of the musical spectrum where a lot of people with great musical talent never "make it big" and not like a person who performs regularly at a place like Carnegie Hall.Like what job ? Yeah I agree but you just listed some very skilled jobs op didn't say you would also be an mba or qualify as cia. There's alot more to those jobs than just knowing languages. True, I guess that's just where my mind just gravitated towards naturally. Luck is as big a factor as anything. I know many years ago, the industry that I want to work in (investment related finance) hired a fair number of people with completely unrelated majors (such as art history). These days, without connections, that seems very difficult to achieve.Yeah I agree but you just listed some very skilled jobs op didn't say you would also be an mba or qualify as cia. Yeah I think your underlying assumption is correct though in that people with that much talent are bound to be very intelligent.True, I guess that's just where my mind just gravitated towards naturally. I'm sorry your father never got that opportunity (assuming he wanted it) - 5 languages is incredibly impressive, though! I know in one of my father's first jobs, he was a Phd in Chemical Engineering working with people (and getting paid the same, basically) as people who were just completing their undergraduate. Fortunately for him, his company recognized his talent and promoted him to a managerial position within a year. -
Honestly, I personally would use the instrument power more than the language one so I'd have to go for that. Unfortunately I don't get to travel that often. These are both like two wishes out of my three though.
