Pokemon is a shitty franchise that glorifies animal fights.

#cuehate

Hmm, i sort of agree, but moreso in how they are about hunting and collecting animals than just animal violence. Sometimes you kinda catch some glimpses of the developers trying to do something better, like those Mystery Dungeon games.

I had an "edgy" opinion earlier, and then saw a thread asking me to remember the Harry Potter films. And with that was born this thread.

So here is probably my most controversial opinion. I do remember the Harry Potter films, but not fondly. I really did not enjoy them at all actually. So then I was thinking that not only do I not like the Harry Potter movies, I also don't like Star Wars. Two of the biggest franchises ever and personally I got barely any enjoyment from either. They're good in concept and in theory, but they're all actually pretty crap movies imo. So that's probably one of my edgiest opinions.

Taxing unhealthy food and drink to stop parents buying it for their kids is lame because it means I just have to pay more for the stuff I want.

😢

Edgy? I'm a huge movie buff, but I think superhero movies are just soulless cash machines. I don't care for them at all. Don't know if that's edgy.

It's not really edgy. They're movies that usually don't try to say anything. Of course there's the rare comic book movie that has a message, but most of the time it's just an evolution of the 80s action movie - easily digested and fancy looking, but otherwise quite shallow.

The first few hours of The Last of Us are absolute shit and do a bad job of introducing you to the game mechanics. It gets really great after that though.

Militant atheists are fucking disrespectful just like militant believers.

Regular drinking (more than once a week, no matter the amount) is weird and I don't know why it was normalized in our society. I like occasional drinking, even getting shitfaced sometimes, but alcohol shouldn't be something that you consume as if it was juice.

Old people are the worst on public transport. They are always the rude ones blocking bus and train exits because they want to be the first ones to get in. They are also the ones who react shitty if you tell them to let people get off first instead of blocking the exit.

I think the N64 is a trashbag of a game console.

Interesting. What aspect(s) of the console led you to this? I find the N64 somewhat fascinating as a console as it did certain things way better than any console that came before, and was entirely incompetent with other (seemingly basic) shit.

Examples: As an in-person multiplayer experience, I've never had more fun with a console. And yet there were entire genres of games that never had representation on the system due to it's severe storage limitations.

In this day and age, where accurate information is readily available, I'd say that teaching children that any (with few exceptions) religious text or book is a guide for morality is wrong and makes you a bad parent.

Probably not that edgy, but whatever.

MCU movies are inconsequential and for the most part completely unmemorable, excluding a few scenes. They all blend together in my head and none of them, barring Infinity War and Guardians, has really captivated me.

I have 7pm to tickets to Endgame lol.

The political discourse on ERA has taken a turn for the absurd with the now common socialist/communist posters running the show in OT while Poli-ERA hides out in their own thread.

People need to stop treating being a liberal as a pissing contest that requires constant one upmanship and looking down on someone who has slightly different views on things like economics, paths to universal healthcare and foreign policy.

The obesity epidemic is a complicated combination of trained habits, companies engineering food to be addictive and marketing. However at the end of the day still requires people to attempt to take control over their life and overcome poor food habits that they had little control of during their upbringing. The idea that fast food is "cheaper" has been false for a while now, in terms of caloric value, it's mainly convenience that people seem to be a slave to. For the very basic need of just needing to eat to live, people can easily buy core staples like rice/beans if they are in a financial situation that dictates the type of food they can eat. There is no universe where a person can't buy a $5 bag of rice, cook off three days worth of it and have that be the main caloric intake, especially when compared to consuming some type of fast food every day which is far more expensive, is designed to not fill you up and does nothing other than "taste good". It's obviously a lot more complicated than that and this is just a really brief overview, but not having access to healthy food != being forced to constantly eat packaged convenience store items (expensive as fuck), pre-packed meals (more expensive processed options) or just going to the drive-thr on a regular basis for your food needs.

You do realize sugars occur naturally, right?

Do you think it's a good idea to put massive warning labels in front of the produce section?

There is nothing natural about the sugars and processed additives packaged foods have in them. Companies load food products with them because people have been accustomed to these extreme flavors and they have figured out there are very clear biological reactions to consuming their engineers foods that make it hard to stop consuming them once they become part of a routine consumption.

There absolutely should be major regulation on food production. As I said above, there is personal choice in a persons own health, but you need to view the obesity epidemic as a health crisis that requires large scale reform and regulation, similar to cigarettes.

People on ERA that believe multi millionaires (or even 100k/year people LMAO) are crooks or immoral are just salty as fuck.

Switch the positions and give them that money and their tunes probably change so fast. That rich liberal thread was fucking wild lmao

Going to music events is cool, but listening to live musics in spotify/youtube afterwards is garbage. The crowd is cringeworthy and there is always someone attempting to steal the spotlight.

I revel in the fact that more and more churches have to effectively stop services, and the churches are converted into other non-religious buildings or demolished and something rebuilt in its place, because less and less attend them in Germany (and central and northern Europe in general), attendance is significantly less each year and the amount of people that leave the major denomination churches are 300k+ a year. Most of this is because those that belong to it still are very old people that are dying, and because the generations younger than them do not belong and have no interest.

In fact what's given the churches a slight lifeline are immigrants who are very conservative and religious, they attend the churches.

I think just below half of the population now belongs to a church, most of which don't attend either and those they just belong for now so they can get married in one in the future.

It's good, just like when the Christians came to Europe and cut down sacred groves that pre-Christian Europeans worshipped and used the wood to build their churches in its place, the same is happening, but now churches are demolished and apartment buildings and other cool stuff built in its place. Only difference is this time it's not violent and not force conversion/subjugation - just people not giving a shit about it any more!

(very old churches with historical value are not demolished, at least none I know of)

Seeing as we got a bunch of atheist complaints past page... *Cracks knuckles*:

Atheists can scream none stop about how dumb religion is, specifically the word dumb, and still wouldn't be a tenth as bad as the beliefs enforced by your average religious layman. The meme of "Annoying atheists" are not in the same ballpark as the sort of people that beat their own kids or still set each other on fire in 2019. The idea that there is life after death is one of the worst beliefs to ever plague humanity.

I think an unfortunate number of ResetERA users are the type of people would be ravenous alt right gamergaters if they were raised conservative
Probably objectively true since "a lot" is vague, but there's also probably "a lot" that were raised conservative and got out of it. I was raised conservative as hell and now I could barely be more left.

If gamergate existed when I was young though I may have been at that time.

The 'if you were compromised, you'd be compromised' take that infests threads about money or crime is about as popular on ERA as it is stupid, extremely so.

The Democratic Party is a shitty party, it just happens that the other party (GOP) is much shittier, but the Dems is still a shitty party.

Homo sapiens is just another animal species with an overinflated sense of self-importance. The world doesn't and shouldn't revolve around us.

The phrase 'worked all my life' should be banned from any meaningful debate or conversation.

All online competitive video games are bad

Men will shortly become obsolete (and that's fine)

JJ Abrams is a bad filmmaker and he ruined star wars harder than Lucas ever could have
