Getter Arc 13 FIN

Great show in the end hamstrung by some production values that more or less ended up fairly endearing. I dig the ending they went with and I appreciated the music choice at the very end too. I should have expected yet I did not. That poor forgotten OP. Hope we get something else down the line as the whole fighting the future angle could go on for a while but if we don't I'm still pleased with what I got!

Yup that's I feel. And don't worry, at the least we'll get a decade of super robot wars content out of it. And yeah I thought that OP might happen when I realized they were going backwards through Jam Project OPs, only sad thing is no rising or OG. Hope we get a special album release of all the ending cover's full versions! Also for Hayato the use of armageddons ending theme was perfect

Also feel at the least we'll get some new spinoff mangas inspired by this, we get one every couple years it feels like. Also did you see this from the director?

Now that'd be a dream OVA/movie and it is Mazinger's 50th next year so we should get a couple anniversary projects out of it

Aquarium Yuri episode 12

Way to drop the bomb, granny.
By the way, Kukuru, not only are your parents dead, but you had a twin sister, who died in the womb.
Fuck. Now, I just waiting for some supernatural shit to happen. That little orange hair boy has to come into play soon. Is he a god of sorts?

Star Wars Visions 6-9 END
6. T0-B1

Not too bad, but far too rushed in the second half. Liked the planet-building aspect of it.

7. The Elder
Similar to the Ninth Jedi, this felt well paced and thought out, doing everything it needed to in its short runtime. Simple, straight forward, and fits well into one of the Star Wars stories. Very solid direction too. I wish more of these had this level of thought put into how to best craft a short story.

8. Lop and Ochou
With enough time, I think this could be a good series. The sister's heel turn feels forced for the sake of the story, but I liked the rest of this. Also fairly smart use of time and pacing to tell a complete story. Definitely needs a bit more on the shift Ochou makes so it feels natural.

9. Akakiri
Absolutely loved the visual style. The journey sequence and the action at the end I really enjoyed. Not too surprised at the ending itself, but I would have loved to see more focus on the relationship here.

Overall, not too bad but also needed more time for each story to breathe and/or smarter decisions on the kinds of stories that could be told in such a short timespan. Many felt like setups for broader shows, but left too many gaps in the narratives to make them actually great...outside of a few. I'd be interested in seeing more of these shorts and I'd be really interested in more that deal less with the Jedi and Sith and the Empire.
Trigun 9

Trigun is amazing. I wish I could go back and rewatch it for the first time.

I mean Arc's director was the guy who did Mazinkaiser SKL, so if he did anything it's more likely to be a small scale OVA which wouldn't be enough. I could see him adapting Infinitism though, now that'd be a trip(a merged dimension with Mazinger, Great Mazinger, Steel Jeeg, Grendizer and Getter Dragon all active and it has Koji time travel and build a new Mazinkaiser based off data from the multiverse and will of Mazin.
It's just a book and kit line right now tho. Basically it's a modern take on the dynamic robots crossover of yore

Alright Chihayafuru season 3 watched and I caught up on the manga again.

now to ignore the manga for a year or so as the manga is currently at a fine stopping point and I don't want to start the next bit without being able to finish it lol.

Kemono Jihen Episode 1 to 12 END EngDub

Liked that we got all the origin stories in these 12 episodes, JUMP SQ has always had the best pacing of the magazines. Sad that this was limited to 12 episodes though when it could have easily had more. Like there is still half as much content to cover.

Shiki was definitely best character followed by Kabane. ShikiKabane moments were always some of the best and I loved how the writer loved make Shiki get flustered.

Akira felt like the weakest of the cast, even the Kitsune girl and boy had more presence and importance. I guess Akira was alright once Yuki showed up but still, that plot would have been effective even without the family connection.

Definitely one of the best anime of the year, straight up 10 out of 10 from episode 1 to now.

This show has literally a mother being tricked into being sexually exploited. This is used as a cheap emotional backstory and goes unexplored In any thematic way.

Then in the arc after that it is practically confirmed that a 12 year old child is forced to be a sex object by a gang of adult women. Again as a cheap backstory trying to illicit sympathy.

I gave this a 3/10 since at least the MC doesn't get his main story, I'm deadly afraid of learning what that is given the pattern.

So yeah please be advised in watching it. I'm being very charitable with my descriptions above.

Getter Robo Arc 13

This was an absolute riot, it was positively great.
I had made up my mind that this was very unlikely to go further that the ending's last panel so I'm not bothered.
The way it all got fleshed out was interesting and totally in line with the theme of "Destiny" this was going for. The post-credits scene was a perfect wrap-up in that sense, and while I'd be interested in a follow-up story I don't think it's absolutely necessary.

Great job guys, and thank you for the 2 minutes of random Kilik and Khan attacks that you likely only included so they'd have interesting moves in SRW lol

Nana rewatch fin

There is a bit more questionable stuff in this series than I remember, but at the same time I still quite enjoy it, and can't think of much other anime like it.

Interestingly enough, it seems to have adapted exactly half of the manga (the anime series ends on chapter 42 and there are 84 total chapters (and given the anime is 47 episodes it should be no surprise that the chapters are long ones), though the manga seems to word a few things a bit better given spoilers I know for later stuff now), and despite how the last episode feels, it remains being basically a 1 to 1 adaptation.

NANA 43
Wow, first episode in a long time where I didn't feel anger or frustration. Nobu moving on is good. The guerrilla concert was really cool and I loved the moment of Hachi watching Nana from afar and Nana immediately spotting her.

And that's the last episode HiDive has until the 30th. See you then, NANA.

Digimon Tamers 15
It was pretty cute to see the class play with Guilmon. Also neat that the trio are fighting as a team now.

It was no Animatrix, but I still liked about 1/3 of the episodes well enough. Some of the English VA really dragged it down for me.
I ended up watching the close captioned subs and that worked out okay. I think I enjoyed or game some credit to most of the shorts, there were only a few that I would have considered actually great. I think the only one I actually disliked was the band one, though that was also the one that was the most unique of the bunch from a story perspective.

Yup. Also in case you're wondering, official site gave us a name for Black Shin getter, in line with the main Indian/Hindu naming scheme it is Getter Karak(which litterally means protector). Bit on the nose but suiting
Also just those extra minutes of attacks? This show was loaded with SRW bait in the fleshed out bits and additions XD. Looking forward to the D2 as Getters first GM/Jegan/MP F91 equivalent, wonder if we'll ge the Stelbas as well

Next season really isn't looking too hot imo. The only ones I'm interested in at a glance are Lupin, some BL that probably sucks but I'm contractually obligated to watch, and some original called Deep Insanity: The Lost Child that sounds edgy in all the right ways.

Hyped for Lupin, still need to watch the France one tho, loved the Italy season.

Also, I'd imagine we'll get a Mazinger project or two announced in the next few months with the 50th anniversary being next year. Or a general dynamic robots project at the least, wouldn't be surprised to see something based off the Infinitism novel/kit line

I can never tell if Muv-Luv is supposed to be some Infinite Stratos'y porn or an actual show.

I could have sworn it was supposed to have some Fafner staff on board but I guess I mixed it up with Kyoukai Senki.

These two and Ousama ranking for starters. Komi's adaptation seems to be high tier and I don't expect Ufo to falter at Kimetsu action bits so will probably watch some of it. Don't think I've heard very positive things about Platinum End so I'll just monitor impressions for now.

Yup. The concert there is really well done. I think you'll enjoy most of the rest of the ride over the next two weeks and look forward to your final thoughts in two weeks.

I'm working my way through the manga right now which hasn't been bad so far.

That concert is good yes. The last couple of episodes land well. Just a little of angst in between.

Nana (ナナ) (2005) - Endless Story

:P

anyway I think the most interesting part of the manga is that the paradise kiss anime was announced after the content of the nana anime, and they do cross over bits between paradise kiss and nana where the paradise kiss characters interact with some of the Nana characters in some cross over of Junko's room and Isabella's room (not called room but I'm blanking on what it's called)

Also
If you never watched paradise kiss, Nana is dressed up as the main character of Paradise kiss as her disguise :P

Fall season is basically Komi-san and Kimetsu no Yaiba for me.

Visually Komi-san looks fantastic plus it seems like the Studio animating it has mostly done Pokemon so this is a nice change of pace for them.

Opening looks beautiful.

as someone who has read the Muv Luv VNs I'm very curious how they are going to adapt it. There's very little porn, but it does lurch from crappy anime comedy ala "you baka *punch*" early on to sci-fi horror. I'm anticipating a total mess, stoked for the madness tbh.
World End Harem will also be an absolute disaster, but that's because the original manga is unbelievably stupid on every level. even if you read the plot summary you are not ready for how dumb it gets.

stuff I'm actually looking forward to: Komi, Mieruko, Heike & Fena continuing.
