Added a second monitor to my setup for maximum screen real-estate while using Premiere. I had wanted a proper 40" display but nobody is making TVs or monitors at that size with high-end features. They're all lower quality panels with middling features. CES brought nothing new to the table either - nobody seems to want giant monitors. So I settled for this 38" Ultrawide instead and it works well. The 32" monitor also makes a great vertical display.

Ultrawide user? Mah man! I love my Asus 21:9 for productivity and games, it really adds something that 16:9 doesn't.

News flash; Rich people enjoy showing off their hobbies. Not to imply people are humble-bragging, just that they have the resources to craft their perfect space for gaming as they see fit. I always enjoy seeing what people set up on the really really high end. If you want to see (not so humble)bragging, go to AVS forums.

I don't have a pic atm, but my setup is a free computer desk and chair saved from work, a 1080p monitor, a 10 year old second monitor, decent pair of powered speakers, xbox one controller, PS4, PS3 super slim and really old computer. I have my fun and make my rent.

Humanscale M8... the thing is a freaking tank and is rated to hold up to 40 lbs (My 34" Alienware AW3418DW weighs a bit over 20 lbs and it doesnt budge unless I want it to). Price however is about $400 retail (got mine refurbed much less). If you don't need as much strength, I have heard very good things about the Ergotron Freedom which supports around 20 lbs for closer to $100.

I have a 3/4" sheet of plywood acting as additional bracing on the bottom side of the clamps.

Thanks for the reply, thats a bit too expensive for my liking but i will take a look at the Ergotron

Took these pictures just today. Newest additions: A Switch (barely visible in the sideboard), Kinect for the Xbox 360 and a 65" Samsung KS8090.

Here is my little media shelf. From top to bottom:
Philips Wireless headphones with a receiver
Raspberry Pi Music Server
Denon CD Player
Onkyo TX-NR626 Receiver
HTPC (Intel i5 2500K, Geforce GTX 660, 4GB RAM) I want an upgrade but not at today's prices

I replaced most of the included cables with colorful ones. It's a lovely mess.

My game room is small but I've made pretty good use of the space I have, looking to get into a bigger place this Summer so here's to hoping.

I made a quick video that better illustrates things, I got too crazy with the camera and I don't want to flood a page with images so here you go guys, hope you like it!

Anyone have a dreamscreen or other backlight setup?

I use white bias lighting behind my TV. I added it a few years ago cause I heard it improved your perception of contrast, and my TV didn't have the best black levels in the world. I realized just how used to it I was when I bought a new TV a week ago, and got really bummed about not having the back light. Ended up trying out the Luminoodle on it, and so far so good. My only complaint is that the X900E doesn't seem to turn off power to the USB ports when it's off, so the light stays on unless I physically unplug it. I much prefer how my old TV does it, where it comes on with the TV, and turns off with it as well.

The dreamscreen connects via HDMI passthrough and changes the backlighting to the colors on the screen. It looks awesome, but is very expensive.

I assume this is just a one color solution?
Do you like it better than nothing at all?

Yeah, mine is just one color. I prefer it that way, as using a white backlight helps improve perception of image quality and supposedly reduce eye strain.

Man I don't know how you guys get photos with the monitor not looking super bright. Anyways, my setup. It's pretty crappy looking. And since I know people are gonna be asking, I have tinfoil over my windows because I work full time graveyard shifts. Less light makes it much easier for me to sleep during the day, as bad as it looks.

Sure, why not.

It's my little game corner.
It's pretty boring stuff though.
Some day I'll stop getting poorer and get rich instead.

Not in frame is a second keyboard and mouse on the right next to the chair to do some minimal PC oriented stuff while using the TV as well.

Don't mind any dust you might spot, I've been slacking on cleaning lately because of a minor woodworking project that is actively making my whole place a mess. I can't wait to finish it and do a proper cleaning.

So, designing a console stand. What I'm trying to figure out is how much room I should give everything to breathe properly. I feel like most of the existing designs on the market are entirely too big in their compartments compared to what I need to put in. Sometimes you just end up putting two or three things in a space that was originally designed for a standard AV component. Looks completely out of place, but allows for upgrades and changes.

For example, the PS4 Pro is about 12x2x13 (imperial). I know I'm going to give it a bit of space above the console either horizontal or vertical, but other than that I'm not sure. I also have to take into account cabling, switches, etc. And make it look symmetric and functional.

E: OK, I think I basically have it.

Going to marinate over the design for a bit, and when I'm confident I'll work on the details like the legs, top, wiring, etc.

As a 18 year old that is still in High school this is depressing compared to my setup.

You have a long way to go. Remember that most of the posters here are likely much older and have been gaming for years. Most of their collections weren't built overnight and they have the benefit of having worked many years more than you. Working hard and working smart will help you build the wealth and time needed to build up your setup. Focus more on getting a good pair of headphones and a nice amp if you can. I had to play my 360 on an old 2002 15 inch LCD monitor(1024x768 resolution) for the first 4 years of owning my 360. The upside was I had a great pair of headphones back then and they made my cheap setup much more enjoyable.

Added a second monitor to my setup for maximum screen real-estate while using Premiere. I had wanted a proper 40" display but nobody is making TVs or monitors at that size with high-end features. It's pretty cool to know that you rock a proper ultra-wide despite your work/passion on covering many retro titles. I really wish we could get more variety of massive ultrawides that include freesync or gsync. Currently the only one that I would want to buy is the LG 38UC99. I can't afford it yet so I'm hoping by the time I have more money saved up an ultrawide with Freesync 2(HDR support) comes out.

Yeah, the 38UC99 is exactly the one I picked up. The 75hz ULMB mode is really quite nice, I must say. Freesync is supported but useless for me since I'm using an Nvidia card (not that a Titan Xp really NEEDS it anyways since I have no issues hitting stable frame-rates in every game). I'd love one of these with HDR support but, as it is, I'm super impressed with it.

Yeah, they are excellent for the price I paid. I bought the whole 5 speaker set up for only $489 at adorama. It was "open box", but they were brand new, sealed in box. Only one of them (one of the tower speaker ) had a banged up package box, but the speaker Was sealed and brand new

Seeing all these setups makes me want to cry. Mind you, I'd never bothered with setups because I was always too poor.

And when I finally do, a hurricane destroys it. Lol. *shakes fists in the air* I will have my setup one day!

So, since this really isn't worth making a thread over, I'll ask here: Most console designs are engineered to take in air from the sides and expel it out the back. Notable exceptions might be the later two 360 revisions, and the OG X1 and X1S. Everything else should be adequately ventilated without much overhead room, ya? I'm thinking an inch to 1.5 inches on the sides (horizontally) to bring air in should be enough.

The tv is 49" in diagonal, but it seems tiny in comparison. The first image makes it seem like the image is too bright, but it't acctualy the shutter. The only problem is that this setup requires a loot of room, hopefuly this will be resolved soon with some new furniture, so that the projector has a constant setup.

Edit #5: obviously i'm not capable of uploading photos. Probably because i'm doing this from my phone.

Can I ask where your TV stand is from? This is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for at the moment.

That's how you keep the pro quiet, dust free and cool.

That's how I have my PS4 and Xbox One X. It's also convenient to keep toddlers from messing with them too much. The downside for me is I have a back board on mine so I can't use rest mode/instant on because of the heat getting trapped so that part kind of sucks.

I removed the back boards on the sides. And ran an HDMI under the rug to the couch. Works very well. And yes is great to keep pets and little ones out.

I'm only working with a modest setup since I've only just recently got back into gaming. I'm hoping to replace my TV stand for one that comes with a swivel so that I can mount my TV. Then maybe get a PS4 for Black Friday.

Basic TV on a stand I got at Target. Its across from my bed though which is awesome. This used to be worse because instead of the 49" in the photos, I used a 32" and some games were unplayable because I couldnt read the text. I also need to get another light to put in the corner between the two wallscrolls. Its way darker than in the photo.
