Post launch support has been phenomenal. The devs have fixed issues at a breathneck pace. They have added Quality of Life improvements even faster. We get new modes on a Weekly basis. New loot on a weekly basis. New missions on a weekly basis. It's still funny how hated this game is.
I bet if we made a thread saying a new mode was released for it for free, people would immediately shit on it XD
I have been constantly battling myself because all i want to do is create a thread on the main page just listing how great this game is, and how responsive the dev has been. I am a big Destiny and BF1 player and I went fucking months, if not years before they fixed some of the most glaring issues like grenade spam in BF1 and shotgun spam in Destiny.
MGS end game is fantastic. I know it's only been a couple of weeks and they dont have much to do in the SP's end game but they have gotten the loot right. Every weapon or legendary gear that drops is different from the other because of unique perks. if for some reason i get a drop with identical perks, their attack levels are nearly always better. Locking the classes behind the end game is actually a great idea because it creates that end game grind that no one likes but everyone wants if its not there. See BF1 players begging for an end game grind and Destiny 2 players leaving the game because there is nothing to do.
I also really liked the 25 hour campaign which played like a traditional single player campaign with excellent progression that rewarded you with something new after every mission. Uncharted 4 was like 15 hours long but felt like 50. Zelda felt like a slog and i played it for maybe 20-25 hours.
I love how the melee combat feels shockingly right at home with the great shooting mechanics of MGSV. This should not work. But it does. It's Dark Souls meets MGSV. It is something EVERYONE should love but most people just didnt want to give it a chance. Those who did were turned off by its survival and base defense elements which, to me created this intense atmosphere that after 60 hours with the game, still keeps me at the edge of my seat. Just rushing back from the Mansion with a survivor avoiding trackers, root grabbers and then mortar guys outside the teleporter is a stressful and terrifying experience. A game with combat of MGSV and Dark Souls mixed with the loot and end game system of Destiny and Diablo, and survival horror elements of TLOU is being trashed by hardcore gamers who are supposed to value innovation and core gameplay over everything else. I haven't even mentioned the incredibly deep base defense system which has like a 100 different gadgets you can use to put up a great defense.
As far as gameplay is concerned, this sits alongside MGSV, Bloodborne and Horizon as one of the greatest playing games this gen. And yet its combat is quantifiably deeper than all of these games. The level design isnt up to par with past MGS games, and the lack of boss encounters and metal gear fights is disappointing but this is a fantastic first game. Especially for a 40 dollar budget title. If this was a success we could have gotten that full on sequel with more boss fights and setpieces with Metal Gears. But nope. Everyone must hate this game because it's a MGS game and has got machetes, bow and arrows and zombies. How dare they!
P.S The story has no memorable characters and is mostly throwaway, and yet it has 2-3 phenomenal MGS like twists you cannot find in any other game out there. So many of the games have great characters, writing and diagloue, but the twists, the worldbuilding, and the overall plot made me go whoa! Most games are too predictable and dont do great sci-fi twists like this anymore. In a 25 hour campaign, there is maybe 30 minutes of story and yet i had more fun with it then i did playing MGSV or Uncharted 4. It's just so much fun.
