What's the method of cancelling my account with the highest success rate? Through the app? Are there even multiple ways?

I had to call my CC company and order them to block off MoviePass's monthly charges. Their CS is nonexistent. Youre supposed to be able to cancel through the app with a couple clicks, but it never worked for me.

Oh boy, e-ticketing has finally come to NYC! It's one tiny theater (The Roxy), but it's a start.

So I cancelled back in September because it was way too unresponsive/a struggle to use for me for some reason but I was thinking about using the service again. I know it says you can't reactivate for 9 months but could I just use a new email/card/send to a different address? Also haas the experience gotten any better since last fall? sorry if these have been answered in the thread already

I don't know what your exact issue was, but I would say it's pretty much the same as it was back in August. They updated the user interface to a more modern look, but that's about it.

If anything it's more of a struggle to use than before because they are now doing user-hostile things like blocking theaters and experimenting with blocking certain showings, requiring photos of ticket stubs, etc. The app/service still goes down too frequently and it is still nearly impossible to get customer service.

But it is cheap and the saying "you get what you pay for" perfectly applies to MoviePass.

It doesn't work at Downtown Disney, it hasn't for a while now. It's not blocked in the app or anything but the payment will not go through, which is weird because the other blocked AMCs were just taken out of the app completely. But basically no free parking as a result.

Sigh, I never watched a movie there. I wanted to.

Back when they had all of that drama and first started removing AMCs, the downtown Disney was on that list of removed theaters. At least iirc. At the time I believe it was also gone from the app. Weird to see it's back. Is it a nice theater? I usually go to the Block for the awesome Dolby Theater

I heard MoviePass now works at Downtown Disney. Can anyone C/D?

This may refer to the one at Florida. I thought it was Anaheim.

I just signed up! I had a quick question. I wanted to sign my fiance up for this but she is potentially going to switch phone providers from Verizon to AT&T when she purchases a new phone. Will there be any problem with this? I know they are pretty strict about keeping this tied to one phone.

Nah,that should be ok. I mean, people lose/break/switch their phones all the time.

They don't want you signing in and out of a phone to use multiple accounts but I think they've relaxed a bit on this, though I haven't tried it.

It's much better than last September. Their system was constantly crashing and nonresponsive back then. They've straightened it out nowadays. I've not had any problems signing in and checking in right away. As for the rest of your question, obviously that's going to violate the TOS but do you really think they're going to spend the resources necessary for looking into it? The idea is to stop serial renewers.

so from reading this thread it's possible to buy tickets for future dates? how would I go about this to guarantee a seat for ready player one this week?

also what are some good social media (fb I guess) pages to follow in order to keep up with movies that are coming out, reviews, etc? I follow tons of gaming stuff but I should be more in the know about movies so I don't miss gems

Just to jump in on this, it's been a dream for me. Absolutely no issues with it anymore (and honestly, I didn't really have that many to begin with).

dropping the price even more screams exit scam...

It's the same price Costco had it for awhile back. It's not some super low priced new deal that makes it seem like a going out of business sale.

Also, their new deal of committing to a year but making monthly payments of $7 seems like a deal for you. If they go out of business, you don't need to keep paying.

Is it possible to switch to this? That'll save me $6 a month.

I've had mine for a month or so, and it's been great, but I went to open the app today and it's not updating its information. It still lists Pacific Rim as "coming soon (3/23)", for instance. I've tried updating the app, uninstalling/reinstalling: nothing is working. Any advice? Android fwiw

I'd just check in to another movie and buy a ticket for whatever you want to see. As long as it's not a 3d/premium ticket you'll be fine.

Anyone notice AMC obviously trying to dick over MoviePass-ers with no regular showings of debuting major releases? Noticed it with Tomb Raider, now again with Ready Player One.

Money should be money with AMC but I guess I'll just take the card to any of the other 3 theater options that take the card with no fuss.

There is no way they're doing that because of MoviePass. I'm sure they believe they'll get more money this way because people will think it's worth it for these big blockbusters.

Its not AMC, MoviePass is "experimenting" with blocking new movies in certain markets during opening week to flex their muscle to studios. You are just caught in the cross fire as a customer.

Also AMC advance tickets are handled on a theater by theater basis, usually regular tickets don't get plugged into the system until wed at midnight, dolby/IMAX screenings will go in 1-2 weeks in advance for really popular movies (or 4-6 weeks for stuff like Star Wars or Infinity War).

Costco is 90$. That's more than the new 7$ price

Nah. He's not talking about the moviepass app, since you can't see those ahead of time. He's saying that there are no standard 2D showings for those movies. I noticed that the only options in my area for Ready Player One are deluxe screens or 3D, so nothing eligible for moviepass. 3D needs to die.

I didn't realize you could make monthly payments. I thought you had to pay the full 12 months in advance.

You couldn't before. The $90 was originally the discounted requirement. The new $7 per month price is only available if you commit to a year. Which means they're offering that $90 per year price as 12 payments. That's the only way you're getting $7 per month. The price is not $7 per month unless you commit.

MoviePass And Landmark Theatres Sign Exhibitor Agreement

Through this agreement, MoviePass will be integrated into Landmark Theatres' ticketing system. MoviePass members who use the service at Landmark Theatres will be able to take advantage of added benefits and features including e-ticketing, advanced screening reservations, and in-app seat selection. That latter option is a new one for MoviePass as the service initially didn't work with RSVP seat venues, however, they've been aiming to provide better accommodations for their members. MoviePass currently counts over 2 million members nationwide and Landmark Theatres operates 255 screens across 53 theaters across 27 markets nationwide including Florida, Illinois, Los Angeles, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Texas, and Wisconsin.

Could have used this for Isle of Dogs. The Landmarks around me air movies that I'd be more willing to spend my time with. This is great news. I think this will be the first e-ticketing chain available in MD too.

Also this is exactly the kind of stuff they talked about in interviews about their business model. People really should go read those before asking how they plan to make money.

That's pretty good news. The only theater I go to semi-regularly that is a Landmark is out of the way, so being able to buy a ticket in advance would be good.

$7 x 12 is $84 plus $6 one time processing fee equals $90.

All they really did was took the $90 one time payment and allowed it to be split each month so as long as you commit to a year, it equals $7 a month plus the one time process fee.

Receipts? I don't see that anywhere on their site. You get billed annually.

I'm excited about Landmark. Using moviepass for a lot of smaller stuff where I live has been challenging at times. I can't wait to use eticketing with reserved seats so I don't have to rush downtown 5 hours before showtime just to buy a ticket so I can get a seat.

I wish a big old independent theater near me would work with them. They mostly play older movies and I'd absolutely love to go there more. It's a huge place and I can't imagine they sell out of most shows. They do for special events and film festivals but those cost more and I'm sure moviepass would restrict them like they do IMAX and other stuff.

Used it last weekend for a theater with reserved seating and was surprised to see that I can now choose my seat from my phone. Is this new, or has this always been there and it just depended on the theater? 'cause I used MoviePass a couple months back at a theater with reserved seating and had to choose my seat at the counter.
