Lmao I hate them for this. Everyone has been complaining about them not showing out on Vizio and staying hush hush about everything when they supposed to be released in 2 weeks, and now they troll us with the twitter handle. I hope to god we get a detail blowout either tomorrow or Friday. Im ready to decide If going all in on the 6 series, or am I getting another vizio P for the game room.

Weird price, probably a place holder? Either way if it's sub $700 that'd be great.

I have a Best Buy 10% off any one item with lots of exclusions.. that TCL is not part of. Hoping I can order one before it expires.

Dude, I am in the exact same boat as you. Mine expires at the end of the month. I might just say screw it and grab the P605. Haha.

I'm really hoping the rumors of the 6-series being native 120Hz are true, as that would make me buy it right at launch. So far sites like HDGuru are saying that it is, but for some reason, TCL keeps telling people that the information will be revealed on May 1st.....which is just odd.

Because it was on the last part of the last page + hype for the new series. Does anyone else here get some color banding on their p607? Any way to fix that? Feels like no settings help with it.

It's supposed to be the same price as the P series according to TCL's reps; At least according to journalists that went to CES.

Oh for fucks sake. TCL is just milking this now aren't they. Where will this tv even be available day 1?

The black levels in this thing are insane. I'm still shocked at the picture quality for the price. With that said, I feel like HDR brightness is where it falls short. It just doesn't seem to get bright enough to properly display it.

This thread has pretty much moved on to the new 6-series line supposedly launching May 1st. We don't know how bright it gets yet, if I'm not mistaken. Vizio's new P series hits 1k nits so hopefully the 6-series will match that.

As far as I know, brightness hasn't been declared yet either. If it hits 1k nits, it'll be the TV to buy in 2018 as price is supposed to remain the same. How bright does the TCL P605 get? 700 nits?

Almost 700 nits but not quite (going by Rtings measurements).

Really hope this new one can hit 1k nits or more, I especially hope they've fixed the dimness on the smaller window, which was a quirk the tv has. Most HDR tv's have better brightness with smaller windows , this one however dimmed it for some odd reason.

If it hits 1k nits, I'll be shocked. That's the only complaint I have about this TV. Not sure what you mean by smaller windows on the TV. Do you mean picture in picture? For some reason, the TV will display different levels of brightness at different times. It's difficult to explain, almost like it's a software bug.

The only people I've seen complain about this type of "software bug" run the TV with quick start mode. I've never seen this I have mine set to always turn off completely.

No, window = the tv screen.

So if you have a black tv screen and then you insert a bright object into say, 5% of that entire screen then it's a 5% "window" of that screen, 100% window = the entire screen and so on.

It's basically a way to measure the luminosity that the screen can get by gradually making the area bigger.

With most HDR tv's they are able to make smaller areas brighter, but as you increase the size of the highlighted area it tends to fall off lower and lower, especially once you get to 25% and higher of the screen.

However with the TCL p605/607, the small windows (like 2/5/10% of the screen) the brightness is dimmed and not as bright as 25/50%, which is like backwards compared to most other hdr tv's that tend to be able to make "smaller" windows the brightest that start rolling off once you get past 25% or more of the screen.

What this means basically is that when you are watching a dark scene and then there's a bright highlight, if it's just a small area on the screen it won't be as "bright" as say, a larger object on the screen.

Right there with you. The P never did, but they had the S. Doubt they'll carry the 6-series, but they'll probably carry the 5-series.

Realistically this is probably what will happen. I'm tempted to pick up a cheap TCL S series or LG TV from Costco or Walmart now and ride it out for the 90 day return policy to see if Costco ever gets it, but I'd feel like a jerk. Cause if they get it you know it most likely won't be right away. They usually take a bit to get new items. I just need a new TV so damn badly. Using my 23 inch Acer ips 1080p monitor for my ps4 pro cause it's the best display in the house atm.

I personally have an LG B7 now. But my parents are in desperate need of an upgrade, so I'm hoping this new set lives up to the hopes. I mean even if it matches the previous 607 with some minor upgrades I'll probably still grab it for them. The problem is getting them to get rid of their damn entertainment system it only fits a 40" or so set. And the TV's in that range aren't great.

Oh, I gotcha. Yeah, I haven't noticed that stuff but I also don't look for it.

If you can't get them to get rid of the entertainment center, look into the 43 inch TCLs. They have good image quality and have great functionality built in.

I've been play Ewok Hunt on my Xbox One X and a P605. I play in a dark room with a bias light behind and 600-700 nits is plenty bright for some stunning looking HDR. The P series has a great contrast ratio as well. The burning ambers and stormtrooper's flash lights really pop. I also have gamma set to 2.0 which helps. My next upgrade might be Sony's succor to the Z9 and the cost of the P series has allowed me to save up. But I'm blown away how everything works so well with the P series, no issues w/ Dolby Vision unlike LG and Sony.

Need to know this to. All I did was fire it up this morning and the settings they brought up threw me off. Turning the contrast higher was making the image darker while the text made it seem like it was going tk be brighter. I also couldn't tell how much if at all the brightness setting in game should be adjusted. In a lot of games we have to turn up the HDR brightness so I just want to make sure I have it set up correct.

I am using the RTings updated settings they used in the youtube video for reference.

Does this TV support RGB Limited e.g. can you select it as an option or does the TV just auto select it.

With the recent God of War HDR thread, I'm just a bit confused what settings I should set my Pro and TV too.

Where's the HDR HDMI port? I use a switcher so I don't if I need to plug in directly.

I'm hoping TCL eventually launches their premium series here in Canada. Not looking to buy for a couple more years but the value in the TV currently is great.

Well I'll have enough for a new tv so I think I'll be copping this once the new ones hit. Can't wait for the price to be revealed soon.

My X had an update today and it reset me back to factory for whatever reason. I forgot if I should be setting the X to output at 8 or 10 bits for this.

Apparently the review embargo for the 6-series will be lifted at 8am Thursday, so expect the details to drop then.
