Is the Shagohod an enemy in the new mission? Or do you call it in as support?
Support like the Rey.
The mission is the Airport one, nothing changes except the support.

What purpose are you looking for from a coop game based around loot and gear?

The game's main end game is coop. Single player is just base defense every day and nothing else. They could probably add some more SP content but it's supposed to be a coop game. I sometimes have problems finding games but usually find games within a minute or two. It could be that you are still trying to find Easy or Normal games and most of us are max level already and playing Hard missions. But if thats the case then join the reddit discord group and find people there. once you hit level 45 you can start queuing up for Daily or weekly Hard mode missions and you shouldnt have a problem finding games there.

Hard is super easy when you level up and get some good gear. You arent meant to solo it but i have 2 manned these missions and even when you have to kill bosses while defending, it's pretty manageable once you unlock Auto turrets and legendary elemental weapons. I just put down the auto turrets on chokepoints with some traps and high durability fences and go take care of the boss with whatever daily or weekly perk does more damage. it's fun, it's rewarding and challenging. What more do you want from an end game?

As for distress missions, you just have to sleep. Go to Africa. Sleep for 6 hours and check side missions. if you dont have 20 survivors then just sleep in Afghanistan until the side missions pop up. be sure to talk to your crew members to get these side missions. Rinse and repeat.

I have been playing for almost two months now. I have done all base digs. All rewarded me with some great base facilities, weapons like auto turrets and barricades, and now i just AFK them for field manuals everyday. I use the field manuals to level up my crew who then give me lots of bonuses while crafting, dismantling and defending my base from attacks. it's a very nice and rewarding loop most GaaS games lack.

There are four classes to unlock after finishing the story, each with some really great unique perks that allow you to experiment and switch up your playstyle. to me, the purpose is to unlock these class perks, unlock epic gear, and prepare my base for harder base digs in the future.

With "something to use your gears on" I intend some kind of mission involving a super-boss which need high level for all players and good gears to be beaten, maybe integrated in a proper mission which is not only "defend the digger" for three turns. I mean, it would be very easy to implement, even fighting the Ray or the Shagohod would be great.

Also I think the game lacks a competitive element: why Konami didn't integrate Metal Gear Online in Survive, reworking the whole thing including the new Survive perks? It would be amazing and it would also increase the interest in the game. They could just reuse everything from MGO in V, enriching it with new maps, modes, perks and equipment. It would be the definitive online experience for Metal Gear, but they didn't even try.

Also I have a question: does coop count for "kill 300 enemies with" achievements?
I'm trying to do the "kill 300 enemies with a bow" and "kill 300 enemies with a two hand weapon" but I didn't unlock them, it's ridiculous because I'm pretty sure I killed many more than 300, since I'm using only a bow and a mace. Maybe using flaming arrows and a flaming mace doesn't count, because enemies die by fire?

i am kinda glad they dont have pvp. there are like five people playing the game atm. it would be impossible to find games if they split the community b/w pve and pvp. though i wouldnt mind a pvp event

i think its disappointing that we never go to use any metal gears in the story or even in coop. shagohad wouldve been great to control. but the new extreme difficulty is exactly what you are asking for.

there is a boss, a support digger, elemental enemies that could only be damaged by elemental weapons and ammo. we needed all kinds of different traps and machine gun turrets to take out the mortars and aggro enemies. it was intense and so much fun,

But to play Extreme I need to grind 20 levels. Today I tried to play the game, left the game running for one hour and literally couldn't find a single match (Steam).
There was like one dude always joining me but when the time was running out he left the party, because Hard in 2 persons is not really doable or even if you make it, getting an S rank it's another question.
I uninstalled the game because the population on PC is non-existent, at least when the game released I managed to find some people to play with for the 2-3 coop matches I did, now it's pretty much impossible having a full party with randoms.

did you try the reddit discord app? they have a pretty big pc community.

every mode can be solo'd. you just need to be the appropriate level and bring in resources and barricades to cut enemies off.

No, I didn't try the discord community because I don't wanna deal with finding other people online on Discord and than play, it takes too much time. Maybe every mode can be solo'd, but to do that you still need to grind for materials or levels, and it would miss the point in the end: being a coop game.

Sorry for the bump, but wanted to point out that the game is a Free Play title this weekend on Xbone. Been playing it and it's pretty fun! Really enjoying the single player and I love how weird things are getting just a few hours in.

Probably gonna buy it sometime soon now.

It's definitely worth a test when it's free.

A flawed game in some respects but something I had a great deal of enjoyment from this year in single player alone. Had this game cross platform matchmaking MP would be excellent as well.

This game is R$ 50 in Brazil rn. That's like $10. Disc version. Still Still not worth it imo.
Maybe try to complete the game in these 48h
Lots of grinding though. And poking.

lmao i just got the game and tried to hit some co-op and it took about 10 min to find a match

Granted, i'm still lvl 10ish.

Is it less hard to find matches once I hit lvl 20?

no, it was hard to find matches back at launch, now it's even worse. but you should just leave coop for the end game. there is lots to do after you finish the campaign.

Just finished the game last night! I was genuinely surprised by
Goodluck's idendity
at the end. Didn't like how underused a lot of the cast was, but I really liked Virgil despite their constant status messages.

I also think the Captain being mute was a mistep, especially after discovering where the voice lines were and how.

I would like to see this team do MGS6 some day.

Damn. controlling metal gear rex is exactly what i wanted.

it's sad how they never released any new maps. but its understandable seeing as how the game pretty much flopped. gamers suck nowadays.

I'm right there with you buddy. I think the twist was way better than the twist of mgsv. Shit had me shook.

I just started playing again and unlocked Raiden. I hope they do keep expanding on this game because there is fun to be had. The fact that they're still adding brand new enemies and costumes makes me hopeful. Next up should be a mgs2 event fighting a shit load of metal gear rays.

Bumping this because of that $8 deal on the Humble Store.

REALLY enjoying this game, and that first defense mission where you activate the wormhole had me seething. Great game though, don't really get the hate for it.

The hate comes mostly from people who never actually bothered playing it at all, and instead watched reviewers who played for about an hour just attack through a fence and nothing else.

Very much enjoyed my time with this, never quite made it far into the endgame stuff though. The journey there was more than enough value for my money.

I would have liked the option of coop outside of the timed stages though, the long atmospheric runs into the mist could have been fun with a partner in the main campaign.

Yeah would have loved to play coop during the main campaign.

This final story mission is so difficult I'm really struggling with it lol. How does leveling work in this game and what I mean by that is as you level you get your skill points like normal but does your damage or anything increase the more you level? I'm just wondering because I'm thinking of leveling a bit more but only if it's gonna help me finish this mission if it's just for skill points then there is no point for where I'm at right now.

As far as I recall there is some level of damage scaling with levels as higher level enemies will shrug off attacks. Provided you're at the right level (was it 20-23 spawns?) I'm not sure how much some increased levels would help given the last mission is pretty much being hit with horde after horde. Though I suppose it may not hurt, perhaps you can get into an online game and get some better weapons from there?

I made sure to stock up on mines, grenades, molotovs, flaming arrows, turrets and guns/ammo most of which I'd ignored until that point and after an attempt or two to get the hang of what spawns when I managed to slog through stuff, though it wasn't pretty. There's also mortars and such which spawn, don't hesitate to use them. As I recall wave 1 was bombers, I tried to run around backstabbing as many as possible to keep on top of stuff.

It was a while ago though so apologies if I'm not recalling correctly. It's a shame you can't join in to play with others :(

Thanks for the replay, really I'm getting hung up on the third wave, mostly those guys the jump and kick but I've just found the flame plates so I think I have an idea now (will most likely end up with me lighting myself on fire again lol). Just wasn't sure how leveling fully worked because I know enemies scale but at some point there has to be a cut off point on that mission I would imagine. I'll figure it and glad I gave this game a try it's a ton of fun and I'm kind of sad I listened to all the negative stuff about the game I missed out on this for a long time.

Yeah I remember now, don't they come down from the roof into the flame traps? I think I saved some molotovs for that and used the mortars to take them out before they got to the traps, maybe some concrete barricades to pen them in for a bit.

I've plenty of criticisms of the game such as the byzantine menus (hunger and thirst slowing while you're exploring the menus early game and getting to grips would help), but its genuinely been one of my favourite games this year.

Yeah there is 3 waves the second wave Reeves puts down some flame plates which when putting down fences pretty much take care of the walkers no problem. I ended up clearing it last night after a few attempts. The hardest part was the last wave when all the jumpers come out but I just ended up building a bunch of turrets so I was able to gun down most of them.I rearranged my base to put a gadget bench on the edge so I could keep building during the phase lol and made an insane bunch of turrets making it easy. Basically the last part has 6 jumpers rush you quickly if one of them catch you they basically destroy you in seconds so it was just a matter of putting turrets behind the electric fence and I put down 2 flame plates in the opening in case they got in it lit them on fire which made it a cake walk.

Great stuff! I never thought to prepare a crafting area so close to that "edge" it probably would have made life a little easier. Glad you got it managed.

Bumping this to ask a quick question: can you play the entirety of the campaign solo, or do you need to coop/matchmake at some point? I can get the game for £5 and I'm about to pull the trigger, I've wanted to check it out for a while now

Campaign is solo only with no matchmaking whatsoever.

Is the online dead in PC? Since the last week I can't find any match to play at all.

https://steamcharts.com/search/?q=metal+gear+survive

Only around 107 people playing it online on PC. I really enjoyed my time with the game but it was dying when I put my time into it last March/April, it's basically on life support now. Doesn't help that Konami didn't really add that much new to it after release apart from an odd new weapon here and there and they rerun the same events, still I certainly don't regret my time with the game.

Xbox's EU (or EU primetime) was terrible even right around launch. Finding a group was as rare as rocking horse shit. Massive shame as the few rounds of co-op that I got into were pretty fun, especially with the different classes.

Would really help with some cross platform matchmaking ;)
