This is how most battle passes with daily challenges force you to login daily. Cant reach tier 100 in fortnite with just challenges and tiers from leveling is slow

Yeah, I know, I just really dislike it. Wish they did it differently, or did something else to keep me engaged. This type of feature actually makes me LESS engaged, since I'm not really logging in because I want to play, but because I feel like I have to.

And it's one of the games I quit for this very reason, along the fact that not only you need to log in at least the majority of days, but on those days you often have to do some dumbass challenge. Let's say there's the one where you gotta outlive 150 people in solo: that is at the very least two matches with a top 25 finish, more than 2 matches if you rank lower. Whether you go in guns blazing or camp on a tree, it's time you could be doing playing something else that properly rewards you for your time.

Rocket League's pass increased my playtime because you'd make progress on a regular basis even without grinding like crazy, the unlocks are mostly good and quick, the post-max-level stuff has tons of incredible variants of existing items, you can stack your win bonuses for a week (so you don't need to log in everyday: do it once per week and you don't lose out on anything at all), and most importantly you are not pushed towards unnatural gamestyles to boost your pass rank: score a couple goals and assists, play x matches, use a certain car once and bam, your challenges are done, free levels for y'all. I've done about double the levels required to unlock the final "unique" unlock in the previous pass. I didn't finish the Black Ops IIII pass last season because it was too grindy. I finished the Fortnite pass once then never again because it was too exhausting and repetitive.

Some games just don't get it right at all imho, and it's their loss because I stop playing them as a result. When all the cool unlocks are behind paywalls or massive grinds, all new maps are behind paid DLCs, new weapons are behind grinds or lootboxes (see prior CODs)... what's the point? Of course, the game is fun, I prestiged in multiplayer multiple times because I enjoy the core gameplay, but whereas even Black Ops 3's system was somewhat exciting (do the challenges, get "free" cryptokeys", use 45 to get 3 packs with at least 3 guaranteed rares - thus by not paying you'd still get a lot of cool stuff for free without even necessarily grinding as there weren't timed items), the one in Black Ops 4 feels just too damn demanding and predatory for me to care. Like RedNalgene in the post above, I also realized I was merely trying to optimize my playtime by having the daily level skip as fast as possible on days I barely had time to play, and it made me anxious about not missing out on a challenge, there were days when I logged in 2-3 times because I wasn't sure I've done it. But that is the only way to "win" the pass unless you play tons or want to throw dozens of Euros down the drain for it to end quick, and that's fucking absurd.

I'm curious about how far the next Call Of Duty can go, at this point. This game managed to have a battle pass, Fornite-like single microtransactions for expensive skins and emotes, challenges-to-buy which would then unlock cosmetics or weapons (after further grind or money), paid DLCs and the season pass for them, time-limited unlocks that you either grind the shit out (or buy) immediately or lose forever, multiple tiers of lootboxes, timed platform exclusivity even on some relatively minor updates because fuck player parity, superexpensive launch editions so you can get in-game money and the season pass cheaper... I'm almost surprised they didn't make specialists cost money at this point, 10-15 bucks to access the new hot class seems like the next logical step. What's the next COD gonna have beside all this, then? Lives you can use with timers to refill by waiting or paying like in Candy Crush? Paid bullets? Maps that aren't part of the season pass and have to be bought separately?

Fucking lmao

This was was advertised as part of Operation Grand Heist, over 2 months ago. It's very clear that Treyarch simply can't keep up with modern day GaaS standards, advertising new skins and a new weapon over 2 months ago for your game's next seasonal event only to delay them until the seasonal event after is fucking embarrassing.

Wrapped up a bunch of zombies EEs with the help of a new friend. So far, I've finished BotD, DotN, and VoD. Really enjoying this EE hunting. I might wind up going for solo EE completions in the future (something I haven't done since The Final Reich).

I had tons of fun completing EEs with a friend too. The only one left is BotD (this one is a bit more tedious to complete). I have high hopes on Treyarch launching a 2nd season with 2 more chaos map, Ancient Evil ending had me on the edge of my seat

Treyarch hit it out the park when comparing updates to Apex. I haven't touched Blackout in months but feel like I'm going to change that soon since Apex has zero happening these days.

I'm eager for more Chaos Story, too. The more fantastic elements of the story are a lot more appealing than the almost terrestrially-restricted space opera that Aether Story became, and Treyarch has clearly learned a lot from their storytelling over the years, considering how much better-paced and easy to follow Chaos Story is comparatively.

In the end, it's all just a zombie soap opera, but Chaos Story strikes me as the better zombie soap opera.

I just want David Mason already, his icon and voice clips were in the files in December.

How stupid to save your best protagonist from Blackout till its starting to die down.

IMO it's quite clear that Treyarch just doesn't have the available manpower to develop enough new content quickly enough, and are thus pushing some of it back. Remember the Grand Heist trailer with Misty? She's still not available, even though her model was clearly finished. Or the mini-sniper, still not available as well. We were promised Prop Hunt during the current Operation as well, that's also been delayed.

You know what might be really interesting for Black Ops4 atm,
Announce MW4 then have the BO4 operation be Modern Warfare themed.

That mini-14 is technically modern,
You could put Mastercrafts in the tiers for certain guns to look like modern variations like the KN-57 to AK-47
Then specialist skins that make them look like modern troops of their nationality

Then this time next year when Sledgehammer is going to announce WWII-2, Modern Warfare has a WW2 operation with the Call of Duty 4 STG44, 1911 and something else like the Mosin Nagant and Garand.

I think this game has been updated at a pretty good pace. It's not weekly and that's fine. The core gameplay is great enough to last me which isn't true of Fortnite or Apex, personally. Apex is falling because its moment to moment gameplay isn't fun compared to other offerings even though the UX is really good.

On a side note: we got killed by a team yesterday that were legit in the circle mid-firefight for several minutes. Not sure what they were using to maintain health, must've been loaded up on trauma kits or something because they were taking all sorts of shots and circle damage. I do think the circle could use some work because it's supposed to be just a method of getting people into a smaller playing space so if people are hanging out and fighting in it, it's not working as intended.

It appears that this teaser shows a new character (probably Spectre from Black Ops 3) destroying the Hydro Dam in Blackout. If Treyarch is seriously blowing up the dam for the next Operation there's gonna be quite some changes to the map.

I'm not even sure if this is for Blackout or if it's an actual remake, because usually when it comes to Blackout locations they shake things up but this looks like a proper copy.

And if it's a remake for the MP it better be free.

Anyone think sensor darts are a little too common and too powerful in Blackout? They last so long and cover a pretty wide area with no way to avoid them. Once you hearing the beeping, it's too late. EMP grenades have too limited of an area and can't be thrown far enough to properly counter. No perks counter them either. There was a brief moment where they lasted for only a couple scans which was nice. Let you scan an area but there was definitely to using them since they wouldn't last. Now i can just shoot one at the start of a fight and it will be there for the entire duration.

Yeah, in solo in particular they're OP as shit. Place one and bam, unless you're in a multi-floor area you know the enemy's exact location in basically real time. Given how easy it is to hoard explosives, being spotted in the final circle is usually a one way ticket to explosion-land - or vice versa, if you're the one with the dart.

I remember they used to last around 15 seconds, but was fixed due to a bug. I think that might be the sweet spot. 10-15 seconds.

Statistically, the most powerful scorestreak in Call of Duty has always been UAV Recon. Intel is historically way more powerful than a strafing run.

Iceland map looks absolutely horrendous, Jesus
The real disgrace is remakes being part of the Black Ops Pass.
Previous Season Passes offered 16 Multiplayer maps post launch with the Black Ops Pass offering just 12, a 25% decrease yet it costs the same. And now you're telling me it's not even 12 brand new maps, but also includes remakes? Fuck off. I'm so glad I didn't buy the Black Ops Pass or any of the Special Editions which come with it, it's simply a scam at this point in my opinion.

Seems like they're going to lean more into reserve drops, then. My friends with 100+ cases and most of the items in the game will be either very happy or very annoyed by this news.

I'm personally interested in the "Classic Elixir Restock" and new weapons in Zombies.

Yo, this season looks hot. Digging the new maps, the Blackout changes look fun, there's a cool new class and good-looking cosmetics, and even the pass grind seems much less invasive. Good stuff, I think I'm back as soon as this drops on Xbox.

I just want a traditional Blackout mode on Alcatraz. Maybe 30 players in teams of three, rather than 40 players in teams of four. No respawns, just straight up drop, lock, and load.

I love Blackout, but I can't do more than a match or two on the big map anymore. It's a huge investment of time that can be snuffed out pretty damn quick.

WMD being in the Black Ops Pass is such a slap in the face tbh. Could they really not make a third map and give WMD away for free?

Hasn't this been the norm? Black Ops 2 and 3 also had classic maps as part of the pass.

Iirc, BO3 only brought back Hijack (completely reworked tho) and Nuketown in MP. They later added Summit, Firing Range, Jungle and Slums but that was 3 years later. Can't remember what BO2 did.

We also got 4 maps in each DLC drop back then. In BO4, we've gotten 2 maps each operation and the base game already came with 4 classic maps, and they added Nuketown for free, so why put WMD in the pass?

It's just a little frustrating that they clearly can't create new maps fast enough because the teams are too stretched thin.

In DLC1, Skyjacked, remake of Hijacked (BO2).

In DLC2, Verge, remake of Banzai (WaW).

In DLC3, Empire, remake of Raid (BO2).

Damn good zombie changes
  • Winter's Wail now only triggering when you're injured and recharging at the end of the round and with Max Ammos. AND a charge every 60 seconds.
  • Nosferatu spawn rate reduced pretty significantly. (vampires). That confirms that DotN now definitely my favourite map is. My only issue
  • Werewolf spawn rate reduced
  • Taken out some wallbuys from the Mystery box and odds changed (less duplicates)
  • Camo kill requirement changed for box only weapons
  • The new Classic Elixir Restock feature ensures you'll never have an empty Elixir slot during a Zombies match. If you use up an Elixir during a match, the empty slot will be filled with a Classic Elixir. Though the Classic Elixir will be chosen at random, team-friendly Elixirs like "Nowhere But There!" have a greater chance of being chosen when playing in co-op matches. Plus, if you rush into a match without Elixirs, a Classic Elixir will be placed in the empty slot to back you up when needed.

Can't wait to try out the Blackout changes and excited for new weapons.

Have you guys used the KAP45? It's fun as hell. Rampage seems to be trash from the few times I've used it. We'll see where the new guns land.

I know remakes as paid dlc isn't new, but it just really stings that this game only offers 12 dlc maps (CoD games have offered 16 for years before BO4) yet the price is the same. If you're offering 25% less maps the least you can do is make sure they're all brand new.

Im done with this game, worst contraband set yet.
31 out of freaking 50 tiers is stickers and emblem.

Why are they so half-assed with Mastercrafts, MWR had loads of them and they actually had effort

I don't really care about any of the unlocks. The game itself is just too satisfying to play compared to really any other popular shooter which is why I keep playing. If a bad battle pass or lack of constant updates break interest in a game, the fundamental gameplay aspects were never that good to begin with.
