I gave it a few more listens- this album is vapid and messy, filled with music and thoughts that sound half finished and rushed, just like TLOP. What could've been a potentially interesting examination of his recent behavior and role in popular culture wastes so much time trying to paint Kanye's tonal and stance shifts as "bipolar" that it ultimately says nothing. There are fewer embarrassing stanzas compared to TLOP just by nature of being a 20 minute project, but Kanye is still really weak as the central performer. The production is flat with familiar sounds and progression all over the place, and leaves the album sounding like TLOP b-sides, which is saying something considering TLOP already sounds like b-sides.
His worst album.
Drunk and hot girls ruined my lifeSome of you legit senile. Graduation worse album? Worse than this? An album with can't tell me nothing and flashing lights worse than this?
on the money. it comes across as an album trying to sound introspective but it feels substanceless.

Can someone explain to me what the whole thing that happened with Wolves was?
tbh I feel shitty talking about this and it's a fine line to tread because how someone wants to handle their mental illness is their right and obviously don't think that Kanye isn't bipolar or anything but it does feel inevitable when ~evaluating art~ to take everything into account. The album cover, the manic screams, calling his disorder a 'superpower', suicidal thoughts and other allusions on the album which reference what he's dealing with. It's an ugly album that doesn't translate well musically and ultimately shows he's still not okay. But if this is truly therapeutic to him that's good too, that doesn't shake off that it's sonically flat and any introspection evokes pity rather than profound sadness. What could've been a potentially interesting examination of his recent behavior and role in popular culture wastes so much time trying to paint Kanye's tonal and stance shifts as "bipolar" that it ultimately says nothing.

agreed on all counts.Production is aight in spots but I just can't fuck with Kanye's rich & misunderstood therapy raps and oversized ego anymore. Glorifying mental illness as an excuse for his reckless and uninformed ramblings, gtfoh. Plus filler tracks on a 7 song EP, not a good look.
The only thing painful about that song is Cudis ear bleedingly bad vocals.sorry but if you don't think Ghost Town and Violent Crimes are painfully beautiful and emotionally raw then don't even quote me
I think they're pretty good but I have a whole library of painfully beautiful and emotional songs and I don't need Kanye's mediocre and shallow offerings to fill those needs. No need to boot his songs up when I want to hear something like that after the spins today.sorry but if you don't think Ghost Town and Violent Crimes are painfully beautiful and emotionally raw then don't even quote me
Cudi comes pretty damn close to the brown note here. How did this get through all the producers and engineers? The only thing painful about that song is Cudis ear bleedingly bad vocals.
if you want to be left alone don't post on a forum. lmao.
good point

Ghost town is giving me goosebumps.
Stand out track of the album for sure.
808s is a masterpiece what on earth, Literally Paranoid to Robocop to Street Lights is up there for one of the best 3 track runs of all time. And the rest of the album is no slouch, the only not great song is the weezy one, but the rest are good to amazingThis is is more boring than bad
Probably second worse ahead of 808s right now for me
right, i got it, i just don't really agree. first off I think lovesexy is one of P's best albums. wonderful stuff.I don't know what your thoughts on Ye or Graffiti Bridge are but I am using the comparison in a negative sense.
Lovesexy was when, as far as I can work out, many people thought that the wheels were coming off the Prince train. Much like TLOP.
Then with Graffiti Bridge, the wheels DID finally come off and Prince's streak of great album after great album was broken. Much like with Ye (imo).
I just personally don't like it, appreciate how influential it was but that's it.808s is a masterpiece what on earth, Literally Paranoid to Robocop to Street Lights is up there for one of the best 3 track runs of all time.
