Wait, Sony support doesn't work Friday? Support is supposed to be working 24/7It also sucks that it is the weekend now. Both the place I bought the game (online) and Sony support are closed now. I've put in tickets to get a new disc.
Anywho, for me it's not the biggest deal. I'm already juggling a few good games and I can wait on this. But it definitely is an annoyance... mostly the whole getting the game swapped deal.

I got a response from the store I got my copy from and they mentioned that they've already received about a dozen or so complaints from customer's who's game isn't working. They say they've reached out to Sony who informed them they're familiar with the issue and supposedly a patch is supposed to go live either today or this weekend to fix it. Though the store already points out that they don't know if that'll end up being true.
There's no way this doesn't get fixed.I got a response from the store I got my copy from and they mentioned that they've already received about a dozen or so complaints from customer's who's game isn't working. I've got the same. Same problem, too.I am unsure if this could be tied to region.
Mine is a Nordic/EU copy labeled PPSA-08338 on both the case and disc.
If this is true, I'm glad I decided to wait until tomorrow to start a return. Not sure how reliable this info is as it's from a rando redditor, but apparently Sony are aware and they'll be issuing a patch soon to fix the SM2 disc installation error.
Tried this and it didn't work.I'm physical buyer too and have had similar issues with either stalling or extremely slow loading onto the PS5 on a few games.
I've remedied this by:
1. Disconnecting my PS5 from the internet first and letting the disc copy to SSD.
2. After full install, reconnect my PS5 to internet and download latest patch.
This has worked like a charm for me. 🤷🏻

Hehe, whoops! You're even the same user. :Dyes, because I posted the same thing here, almost at the top of the page :')
Shit. So if it's a disc issue, does the mean there'll be no patch?Yup and when I asked for a return label so that I could sendt it back today, they had me run to Sony's support. Sony support answered that it is indeed a disc issue, so now I can take that info back to Coolshop who will probaby wait until monday before giving me a return label.
The big challenge will be getting a disc that actually works, if there's a ton of faulty discs in warehouses :/

Do you have experience with returns to Coolshop? The faq says it takes 2 to 3 weeks, but that's so long đź’€
What they can and should do is replace the discs.I guess the only thing they could do is prompt a full game download when you insert the disc. That is certainly preferable to no game.
Not unless Sony lets youIs there a way for physical buyers to basically grab the install from the PlayStation Store, but use the disc to authenticate and play?
Lol what a postDamn, like people need fewer reasons to buy physical. Hope it's an easily fixable issue.
Have you tried running the game with the internet connection turned off? Wonder if it is still trying to fetch some data and PSN servers might be on fire.No scratches on my disc, but once I finished the install the game kept giving me an error saying it couldn't download the update. Trying to start the game without the update would just result in an immediate crash.

Just try it, it's not like you're gonna be left in the dust if it's defective. They have to replace the defective discs. My copy just arrived.
I have yet to open and attempt an install, but between this thread and the disc already flapping around (off the holder) within the case, not feeling super confident.
Lose disc is pretty normal for PS4/5 games due to the case.My copy just arrived.
