It's not tiny but not mainstream either. I'd wager most people with a casual knowledge of metal would know about stuff like Metallica or Slayer or Iron Maiden rather than some obscure nazi black metal band.
A lot of metal is just a generic rebellious stance toward the rest of society. This inevitably results in plenty of nazi idiots being attracted to it simply because it gives them a platform of people who may or may not resonate with their ideas simply because they are extreme.
That said, there are also a lot of great leftist bands like Toxik, Nuclear Assault, Violator (from Brazil) and Vio-lence (great band names, I know!)
But that doesn't mean they are Nazis. The only real popular band that uses Nazi images is Slayer and in their heydays half the band was Latino.
