He does though. In gen I the rockets are not really doing anything major that requires him interfering if he doesnt feel like doing so. If Erika, who is the gym leader of Celadon, isnt bothered enough to stop their casino in her city, why should Blue do it? The harsher thing team rocket does is taking over Sylph Co, but again, no reason for him to interfere and the two gyms in the city dont bother either.
The megalomaniac plans that threatened the world for evil teams didnt came till gen III, in gen I and II team rocket is fairly inoffensive all things considered, more of a mob group than an actual menace to the world.
Also yeah, forgot about N. But he's kind of an odd one. It's a rival, sure, but also the "evil team" figurehead in some senses? I stand corrected though.
Lance cares about stopping TR. Blue doesn't give a shit. He has no reason to buddy up with you. Again, what you're asking for sounds completely arbitrary. You don't like the examples of the game showing you Blue is ahead, but that doesn't mean they don't count
I'm not saying he buddy up with you. My example was framed in the context of him steamrolling through the group to reach you and challenge you in the heat of battle or something. It'd give the game a chance to show us his drive and ability instead of basically going "take our word for it". Mentioning Lance was just to show an example where this is actually possible in this sort of game.
So can you just walk into the Pokemon go transfer area in Fuchsia and catch safari Pokemon anyway? I don't get why they are still showing up in that area.
This looks pretty clean, I like the art style. Almost a return to the original art from the Red/Blue manual, though I'd still prefer it look softer like those did.
I'm going to wait to hear player impressions here. I'm not convinced at all.
I'm not sure what about Pokemon they needed to make "more accessible". I mean it sells enough. Fair enough if you want to try this was a less seller franchise.
Why do these pokemon still have digital sounds as voices? it's so jarring.
why not give us a option to select between old nostalgic voices(digitized) and brand new or anime voice-overs?

There's a small cutscene with Lance's dragonite bumping into a rocket dude and him moving on while you fight the other rocket grunt but that's it. And Lance is supposed to be a hero/good character anyway so i dont see how the comparison fits. You dont see Silver beating Rockets either and he actually had his reasons to do so.
There's a scene in the overworld where Lance commands Dragonite to use Hyper Beam and some Rocket Grunts' sprites are being knocked away, by my recollection. And even then he's basically at your side and assisting you through the hideout. That was done with GB tech so something like that isn't really out of the realm of possibility for RBY.
OK, so, if they did that, then it'd be "showing, not telling" that Blue was strong? First off, that's not what people mean by showing rather than telling. What they mean is, for example, establishing that two people are friends by having them act like friends rather than having dialogue point out that they're friends.
Secondly, again, the point is not that Blue is strong. The point is he's "ahead of you". This is something that helps make the player feel like Blue is strong, but it's not the point. I'm thankful it isn't, because if you really wanted to establish that Blue was an unbeatable badass, I don't think him blowing away a Rocket is enough of a show of strength. You'd have to make the battles with him unwinnable or just cut them. The important part is that Blue is blazing through his adventure not bothering to help anyone. This is shown by other characters mentioning him, the gym plaques, and the fact that he shows up having already finished the area you're just entering. The fact that he has more badges--official recognition of strength--than you is very important to him, to the expense of everything else in his journey. This is an important part of his character that contrasts with Red and helps the player feel like more of a hero.
Later on in GSC we see that Blue's loss has changed him. He starts becoming concerned about the world around him and not just being acknowledged as the strongest. I'm not sure we see that change starting at the end of RBY though.
Super into everything I'm seeing about this entry. Surprised they kind of omitted the Go aspects though, I didn't spot any wild pokemon stuff in there.
Eevee will probably still be a gift Pokemon in Celadon City and Pikachu will probably be a rare encounter in Viridian Forest and the Power Plant. You can see Raichu in the Power Plant location on the map.
,You know there's plenty of great things in this trailer and in the Let's Go games in general it seems, if they take all the good things they created here and put them into the next proper mainline gen then it might become the best Pokémon game yet! :D And I like what I've seen here for Let's Go in general though I'm still miffed on no wild battles and it being a Gen 1 remake but it will be a good appetizer for 2019.
i understand this... But how hard would it be to update the voices? I just find it crazy how with each iteration of pokemon- the visuals get better; but the voices remain stuck in the past.
I look at the card game hearthstone as an example of how it should be done.
Care to elaborate why? Not knocking your opinion down, just curious.
I feel like a friendly rival could be done well, but gamefreak simply doesnt know how. Hau and the XY gang being the worst offenders. Despite not liking his personality i feel the closest gamefreak got to a good friendly rival was barry in gen IV

I was about to post the same.
Comes as no surprise though now that they don't have to make the game for a 3,25" screen anymore, even though some people liked to use it as an excuse to call GameFreak incompetent.
Misty looks great, but the lack of skin tone options is inexcusable since there's customization options. Hopefully it's just that we haven't seen it yet and they'll clear this up soon.
For friendly rivals, I liked the Gen 5 ones (both games). They didn't exist to be your cheerleaders. They had their own things going on with their lives.
