Dusk Golem is reliable on all things horror related old and new.
My personal theory is Mr. X stalks Claire in the first half middle section of her campaign, then Leon later in the game (as Mr. X is who kills Ada and all that, and in Leon B Ada throws the Rocket Launcher to Leon for Mr. X after her "death", which I don't see them removing).
Talking about that, how exactly is the campaign divided in this game? It's like Rev 2 or you pick a campaign and go through it until the end... and then play another one?

Like RE2, there's a Leon and Claire campaign you can select at the start of the game, and then can play through their whole campaign (or could go back and select the other whenever you want to). To mention, there is no more A/B scenarios, but Leon and Claire have far more differences between their campaigns than they did in RE2 and there's now a "timeline" of events that you see through the two campaigns, IE things Leon does in his campaign happen also in Claire's campaign, not player choice as much as a "timeline" of events happening.
Yeah Mr X or T-00 series 103, 1 of 6 was sent to retrieve the G-Virus sample while the others were dropped in at the Incineration Disposal Plant P-12A
The backgrounds on 3 were insanely well designed.
It's what they deserve.
Yea, I been thinking the same. Hopefully it has a merc mode but I can spend hours experimenting with weapons to see the body damageThisll definitely be one of the games I play over and over just because of the zombie physics.
I thought that was hilarious. There are many of those on YouTube. The Thriller one is pretty great.
Is it just me, or does it seem like, even though Leon and Claire are aware of each other, their Campaigns diverge much more like in 1.5. In fact, a LOT of inspiration from this game comes from RE 1.5 and it is amazing.Certain sections, we actually have already seen the scene a bit later in where Mr. X gets reckt'd by William Birkin. I assume Mr. X stalks Claire during the visit to RPD after the Basement, and in the Prison before Birkin wrecks Mr. X and takes the elevator to fall down underground.

This makes me think of how underused the "being infected with plaga" was in RE4. I always thought that at the parts where Leon loses consciousness, after the lake, and while attacking Ada, it would have been rad to let us play through some of the Hallucination scenes from RE 3.5 as a way to help us visualize the duality of Leon's infection.
it would have been a great way to include lost material in a way that is relevant to RE4, both in giving substance to the "infected" angle that ultimately never entered into gameplay in RE4, and it would have given us brief fixed camera horror bits to break up the action even more.
A lot of the hallucinatory RE 3.5 bits took inspiration from Evil Dead, just as ultimately, the final RE4 did also.
Sigh, if only Capcom would.
Back on topic, Mr.X and that licker...damn that is a great shot. And Nice to see they made Ada's red getup look a bit more practical. I wonder if we have seen ALL the unlockable costumes. I was hoping for RE4 jacket Leon costume, and maybe his skull leather jacket and one handed shooting from RE2. For a guy who allegedly LOVES leather jackets, he has none in this game. Very odd.
Pretty sure remake 1 is on modern consoles, definitely the place to start. So what's the best way for a guy to get into this franchise whose only firsthand exposure to Resident Evil was -- of all things -- half a playthrough of RE3 back in like 1999?
My household is getting this game regardless, because one of my roommates is such a huge Resident Evil fan that she mentions it to me every week. But yeah.

A lot of the franchise has small connections but are generally welcoming to newcomers and somewhat self-contained, but the best entries to probably play first would be Resident Evil HD Remaster (HD Remaster of the Remake of the first game), Resident Evil 2 (the original), Resident Evil 4, or Resident Evil 7. All three of these games sorta' mark "new beginnings" for different arcs of the series, and are also often considered some of the best in the franchise.
Doesn't seem like it. Follows the original Resident Evil 2 structure where there's segments you play as Ada in Leon's campaign, and segments you play as Sherry in Claire's campaign. You can choose to play Leon or Claire's campaign first from the beginning, though.
THE LEGEND HERSELF LOOKS SO FUCKING GOOD HOLY FUCKING SHIT
GOTY IS COMING JAN 25TH BOYS
RED DRESS ADA LET'S GO ʳᵉᵈ ᵈʳᵉˢˢ ᴬᵈᵃ ᶠᵒʳ ˢᵐᵃˢʰ ᵈˡᶜ ᵖˡˢ
EVEN A SCREENSHOT OF HER BACK looks so fucking good. Now Capcom reveal her elusive and mysterious model, Ada's the last one remaining....

Maybe this will be the debut of the new Mr. X everywhere system
Knew you would chime in !!
Yep, can't wait to see the iconic 'new' look of the queen. I expect her to be wearing black leggings with a red, some-what 'tactile' dress this time for a more modern look.....and the classic Red Dress Ada (no leggings, nor 'tactile') will be DLC/unlockable. Ada always been with style, will be no different here !
If the first trailer is anything to go by she has black tights and heels on
For years, people were saying that you couldn't do a "proper Resident Evil" with an OTS camera design and I've been championing that idea for years.
