Heads up regarding the Konami Arcade Classics

For those who didn't know, this is a compilation of Hamster releases of Konami arcade games (which I believe aren't available standalone on Switch, but are on PS4 and Xbox), and as we all know Hamster tends to offer both international and JP versions of all games they release... Well, that's not the case here. Only Japanese version only gets JP roms and international collection only US roms.

I still need to see a confirmation than this collection is handled by Hamster.

Yep, Hamster released all these games on Playstation 4, through the Arcade Archives series.

But this implies nothing.

In the same way as there are SNK games in the 'SNK 40th Anniversary Collection' that have been released in the Arcade Archives series. But the emulation in the collection is not handled by Hamster, but by Digital Eclipse.

FYI the Japanese version is the one you want if there's truly no way to swap regions. This is a pretty frustrating discovery and doesn't bode well for the rest of the collections which will have even more regional differences to contend with.

Yeah a Castlevania collection with no way to play JP Castlevania 3 would be mighty frustrating.

The very official site says "Powered by Arcade Archives" near the bottom https://www.konami.com/games/50th/ac/arcade/eu/en/

Cuphead is legit really REALLY fucking good, everyone. Like 10/10 material. If you have even the slightest passing interest in boss rush or 2D shooting games like Contra, you will love Cuphead. Plenty of indie games are lauded and have their week or two in the spotlight but Cuphead is an instant classic. I finished it on Steam when it first came out and am eagerly anticipating the DLC.

I think it looks great. And it is 60fps.

Re: Mortal Kombat 11

Most people seem to agree with you on this. Maybe watching the undocked footage on a big screen isn't helping, I'll watch it again on the Switch screen. And why the hell is the trailer 30fps? I'll probably like it when I see it running at 60fps.

Thanks for the heads up. I can see how this can be frustrating to super fans, but are the differences big enough to make this a bad purchase for the average player? Like, is the performance bad in the US version or is it missing extra stages?

Will be curious to hear Katana Zero impressions. Was listening to KF Gamecast and they seemed pretty positive on it. Will probably be the first game I download for Switch.

I'm a dumb ass and used my gold coins for Smash Bros Mii Fighter costumes that I'll never use.

Way too often I use gold coins to justify bullshit I otherwise wouldn't get, rather than using it on discounts for games I was already planning on purchasing, lol.

Does anybody have a spare time turner?

I'm not sure how I'm supposed to find the time to play,

Baba is You
Wargroove
Katana Zero
Steamworld Quest
Boxboy + Boxgirl!
The new Enter The Gungeon update.
Picross S3

Freaking ridiculous. It's a good job I've already played Cuphead or else this list would be even bigger. My poor Switch won't know what's hit him.

I'm not even an MK fan (my wife is though) and I might just pick the Switch version up. Looks damn good and the appeal of playing it portably while on a flight or waiting for a movie to start is too damn strong.

Same thing here. difference is that my wife hates MK, but i love it.
I even have my joycon modded to have a d-pad since i love playing fighterz and BBTAG on the switch.
Gonna add MK to that.

Caved on Katana Zero & Cuphead, I'm seriously starting to think that my Switch is the only console I buy games on anymore.

Not that you talk about i think i only bought games for the switch since i got KH3 on january.
I'm gonna get those 2 games also today but i'm also looking at Hell is Other Demons since it looks to be my jam.

Bot Vice
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!

last week
and then

Risk of Rain
Bleed 2

the week before.

I'm waiting for Katana Zero impressions, I basically just want to hear if it runs great in portable mode or not.

And what about Hell is Other Demons? I have my eye on it and I want to know if it's any good.

Just saw a video now on Nintendo Portugal that says Realm royale is available now with the founders pack.
Guess one more game for this already packed week.

How would the difficulty of Cuphead compare to Celeste? I don't usually like rock hard games but the checkpoint system of Celeste really helped and I loved it!

Both are very different beasts. Cuphead is more focused on boss battles and it really comes down to you avoiding the boss' attacks and shoot em down until they're out of phases. Sometimes get a parry off of pink boss attacks to build up meter for stronger attacks. There's no check pointing though so you're gonna need some patience. There's also side scrolling levels but those also don't have checkpoints. Each level shows you how far you got into the fight/level after you die. There is an easy mode where bosses have less phases and are less offensive, but it's not a well built assist system like Celeste where you can accommodate specific attributes of your character to better cater your playing experience.

EZA review of Katana Zero is out. I'm so torn. It's a positive review but the gameplay strikes me as something I may not truly enjoy.

I would kill for something like Space Pirates And Zombies on switch right now, I got the itch for a top down space shooter with progression and customization.

Any recommendations?

Everspace looked like it might scratch the itch abit aside from the prospective.
Hey, a bit lttp to your question but I just have to say, Everspace is a fucking great game! Haven't tried the Switch version but I have over 50h into the PC version. It's basically FTL but in 3D and with space combat.

Katana Zero seems technically solid from the first couple of levels I've played. Lovely. Great music as well. So far I think the gameplay is fun, but I hope it stays manageable / challenging without going too nuts with difficulty later on.

I preordered but yeah, this is my main concern. I remember people playing the first bit of the messenger saying it was easy even though after a few hours the difficulty really ramps up.

Well, the full Castlevania lineup is revealed

And man... What was even the point of not revealing Adventure 1 and CV2 from the start?... They made me think they were purposely skipping bad games and we'd get Rondo and Adventure Rebirth instead, sigh.

Bloodlines is a godsend and Kid Dracula is a great surprise, but goddammit Konami :(
Does this also appears in the 'Castlevania' and 'Contra' collections?

If Hamtser has a running emulator of Game Boy and NES, this gives me hopes of them releasing Console Archives collections in the future.
Nah, only the arcade ones. We still don't know who's doing the other colldctions.

Here's a thread with the specifics

But in general, it's less about being annoyed that they're different and more about most international versions being significantly higher than the JP ones. Like Haunted Castle, a game infamous for its difficulty, is even harder in the international version due to less enemy drops ans the character being more frail.
How would the difficulty of Cuphead compare to Celeste? I don't usually like rock hard games but the checkpoint system of Celeste really helped and I loved it!
They're really hard to compare as they're so different, but maybe they're kinda similar?... The main focus of Cuphead are the bosses, which you restart instantly upon death, and the fantastic visuals and music along with the sheer fun that they're to fight should keep you wanting to give it just another try, but I guess it varies from person to person.

Cuphead does have an easy mode, but the downside is that it doesn't allow you to play the very last stage, encouraging you to play it in normal instead. The game was criticized for this, so I wonder if they changed it this time around.

Played Everspace on Switch for like 40 hours. Really enjoyed it except for the fact that jet boost is mapped to clicking the left analog, and none of the four control schemes stray from it being mapped to clicking one of the sticks, so you end up holding it down A LOT.
