this is 80% off (1.99€) in EU, looks cool but keep in mind its originall a iOS game so I'm not sure how complex the platforming can be realistically.

I played it on iOS. It's not going to win any awards, but It's pretty decent, worth the discounted price. It has a lovely artstyle. I don't know if I would call the game a platformer, it's more a exploration with light puzzle solving kind of adventure.

So, yes, Puzzle & Dragons Gold really should have been called something like "Puzzle & Dragons Vs." because it really is just a PvP online game. The presentation is slick, but the "story" -- which is a very generous description -- mode pretty much amounts to rolling out of bed, fighting three battles, now you're the champion.

I'm having fun playing P&D again on Switch, but I have a feeling I'll just get absolutely skronked when I go online, and it won't be very fun. If you were hoping for something like Puzzle & Dragons Z on the 3DS (like I was) this is not it. There are no RPG elements -- shit, you can't even change your team in the story mode -- and all the customization and growth features for the creatures you collect are absent. The basic battle system is pretty different, too, in terms of how turns and damage work. There's a very simple tutorial, extremely basic avatar choices, your team building menu, the gatcha machine, random single player matches, a story mode of maybe about 10 total levels, local multiplayer, online multiplayer, and there's your game. If you're into that, $10 might be worth it, but do not expect an RPG or even an RPG-lite experience.

Should also mention I've had the game freeze once already.
Thank you for saving me $9.99 !

I have been waiting a discount for this game. I think it will be great for my daughters. I also like easy to play games sometimes to relax so I'm definitely buying this.

I played Shovel Knight when it first came out and thought it was pretty mediocre, but I recently decided to give the other DLC story modes a go and I'm glad I did. Plague Knight is just all around better than SK, and King Knight's Wario Land-inspired gameplay and bite sized levels are a nice change of pace, plus I'm a nut for weird card games so that's up my alley. Specter Knight has a nice story but his gameplay isn't as good as the others. I really like how the other knight modes not only overshadow SK but
each one ends up showing how much of a frustrating dick he actually is.

I wouldn't call any of them great games on their own, but taken together I have to say that Yacht Club games has done a good job of diversifying the gameplay, and the way they've fleshed out the world, the knights, and interweaved their various journeys is quite satisfying.
LOL you enjoyed Plague Knight more than Shovel Knight's campaign?! Man, you are so alone in that opinion.

I'm glad you enjoyed it either way, I LOVE Shovel Knight. I actually enjoyed Plague Knight a lot too, but most opinions on the internet is that it was not liked.

Do I want the Phoenix Wright trilogy or Tangle Tower for my narrative fix?

I couldn't even finish the first level of Plague Knight and dropped it.
Yeah, it has a steep learning curve. You need to spend time practicing and learning the movement... it's not very welcoming, but rewarding once you're flying through the levels as Plague Knight. It's pretty fun, but you have to earn that fun.

Phoenix Wright Tril, no doubt.

Plague Knight's campaign rocks. He's not a easy character to master, quite the opposite - his attacks have a weird arc, he slides around the stage like its on ice etc. but once I dug into the quirks of his movement (how to basically fly through screens without touching the floor using potions, charge shots and suck) he was a real blast to use. He's perhaps the most fun of the bunch aside from Spectre to speed run thanks to the movement options, but I totally get the cold shoulder he gets. Its weird though, going back to the base SK experience after using the other three Knights is weird, he feels so slow and simple by comparison.

Plague Knight's gameplay was a lot of fun but the real meat of Plague of Shadows was the romance between Plague Knight and Mona.

For sure. His story is my favourite of the bunch. Mona rocks, and the humor was really good in that game. Heck, all the DLCs had some great world building for the game, it surprised me just how well they managed to flesh out the games back story over the three of the DLCs.

Pretty big internal document leak from Game Atelier for all you Monster Boy fans. Major story spoilers (the entire damn story it seems).
Summary of their next game (sci-fi metroidvania): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Mc9O_0RcttZ67XFVSWV5fpJVyj0f0499/view
Full script: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1delOEVzVBetphizaaIVhnTzfUQ924QFB/view

I just glanced at it but it sounds cool and original. For some reason I thought FDG was the dev and Atelier was the pub but it turns out I had it backwards. Looking forward to the full reveal for the game.

I knew! Well, I hope you don't miss it too much

Nabbit that homemade pizza should be great, unless you don't put pineapple on it, that is.
Actually, I live at 70km from Naples (45 minutes by car) in a city called Salerno (135k inhabitants). So we have excellent pizza, too.

I'd like to give you impressions on Broken Age, if only I weren't hooked again by Okami. Boy, this game will never stop being a masterpiece.

Not to worry, I proudly out pineapple on every pizza I can think to! And that's awesome that you're so close to Naples.

I haven't, but Soupbones provided some impressions in post #747.

Do any of the Sega Ages releases have similar features to the Jewel Case from Columns II? I've really enjoyed that part of the game and it's kept me playing.

I finished it on PS4 and enjoyed it. You are constantly making progression towards unlocking abilities and stats on a massive skill tree(mostly passives). So every session feels at least worthwhile.

The caveat is that the world is mostly procedurally generated, so some "rooms" are static but all the rest of the surrounding map get filled in with each play. Expect the environment to feel sandy as you explore.

Bosses are a highlight. Just massive and impressive to take on. Combat is mashy and not too complex. Enemies swarm you mostly and that can get irritating at times when trying to navigate, but it controls fluidly.

As much as some aspects could be bothersome, I couldn't stop playing til it ended. The massive skill tree and continuous progress were addictive.

Add me to the lot that really really loved the Plague knight campaign even though I didn't even like it at first. I played a few levels and dropped it for months. Gave it another chance, got a few cool power ups and proceeded to play the whole thing faster than any of the other campaigns, it was excellent.

Shovel Knight's campaign is alright and everyone loves the Ducktales pogo gameplay but you end up bumping your head against the game's skill ceiling halfway through. In contrast you are always getting better at controlling Plague Knight the whole way through. It's a more rewarding experience.

I have and loved it. The game has a fixed overall structure and maybe 40% ish(? I finished it some time ago) of the map is fixed rooms, and the rest are procedurally generated in blocks. But the blocks themselves are well designed, and you're always moving between them and the fixed parts of the map, so the procedural generation didn't bother me at all. The art is awesome and I found it fun to play and control. The combat isn't terribly complex, but it's not so simple that I didn't enjoy it.

Today was the day I learnt that there are some games with gyro aiming NOT working on Switch Lite. Goddamn. I'm probably the only person on here who didn't know that, lol, but I was 109% sure they all were like Splatoon 2 or Wolfenstein, where it works because the console itself still has gyro (like the OG Switch's "tablet") even tho there's no Joycon. But nope,
SNIPER ELITE 3 (and also 2?) gyro aiming does not work properly on Switch Lite, to name one. Don't know if there are others. I probably wouldn't have bought the game if I had known this prior... works perfectly on my OG Switch.

Yeah I've done more testing: gyro aiming on SNIPER ELITE 3 Ultimate Edition is in fact useless on Lite. Don't have SE2 to check if it's the same. On SE3, gyro aiming on Switch Lite has a very limited implementation but it's so bad that you'll never want to use it, it only moves erratically and with horribile delay, on the X and Y axis with no fluid 360°/diagonal aiming movement

possibly worth tweeting at Rebellion over?

Don't have my Twitter account online atm, but, and I say this to anyone who wants to do it, feel free to link (or not) to my posts and tweet it to Rebellion.

Never heard about this either, as Moon suggested you might want to Tweet (or send an email to) Rebellion. I've found developers to be quite responsive surprisingly often, I doubt they knew about this either.

Especially Rebellion since they ported it themselves afaik (they usually do) and put in the extra effort to begin with. And they're bringing more Switch stuff so chances are decent, imo.

I think you'd be the one most qualified to write them, since they might have follow up questions (?)

Alright I'll see if I can unlock my new Twitter account later on. Will post it here when I do so that maybe you guys can boost the post to give it more visibility.

Btw, just to precede someone suggesting as such: No, my Lite's gyro works perfectly on Call of Juarez, Senua, Splatoon, Wolfenstein 2...

Actually I think the support link I provided could get you better results (as far as a proper response)... I always email/fill out a support form on developers' sites and I always get a response.

So apparently some games use the joycon gyros even in docked mode? So it's basically also unplayable with the Hori dpad or the split pad pro, I take it?

So apparently some games use the joycon gyros even in docked mode? So it's basically also unplayable with the Hori dpad or the split pad pro, I take it?
I think you mean hand held mode? But yea, the left joy con (if memory serves) is used for gyro in hand held modes in conjunction with the gyro in the Switch itself in order to be more accurate in some games.
