Entertainment software unit sales drop -24% in the aftermath of Black Friday, but it's a similar story for the No1 spot, as Activision Blizzard's 'Call of Duty: WWII' (-40%) makes it 5 weeks running at the summit of the All Formats Chart.

It now equals the record of most amount of No1's in succession in 2017, set by yet another Activision Blizzard title – 'Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy,' which incidentally climbs 6 places up to No10 (+5%). The Top 5 also remains the same as last week as EA claim 2 of these with 'Fifa 18' (-30%) and 'Star Wars Battlefront II' (-33%) at No2 and No4 respectively. We only have one new release that makes the Top 40 – Nintendo's 'Xenoblade Chronicles 2' on Switch debuting in at No19. It beats its predecessor's debut chart position by 9 places as 'Xenoblade Chronicles X' came in at No28 in its release week.

Yeah the Playlink titles are doing good in retail, probably even better in digital form.

GTS is bombing so hard thats its starting to outsell successful games
Let's be real - it's only selling well because of a huge price reduction. It's selling a lot of copies, but not making much money. Personally I'm disappointed to see it at no. 3 in the charts, I hoped more gamers would boycott it and punish Sony for ruining the single player experience.

Activision must have about 10 Crash Bandicoot games in development at this rate.

Hopefully remaster of CTR is next on the line. I neeeed it.

Expect that it's just as high in revenue chart. It's making a lot of money despite discounted price.

I should add that there are three games Sony is really pushing hard with adverts across the UK, namely on buses, tube stations and at the cinema, those games are - Gran Turismo Sport, Horizon Zero Dawn The Complete Edition and God of War. The latter is honestly really strange to me, it's release must be imminenet, I'm expecting a release date announcement at PSX.

Guess it's kind of business as usual after Black Friday week, expected results at the top for UK based on discounts etc. Even MK8D and GTAV moving back into the Top 10 makes sense given there being new console owners this time of year.

Any word on hardware sales yet? Not sure I saw any posted anywhere. Just curious.

Looking at the weekly data, NFS and Battlefront 2 are charting high everywhere, so apparently they were not nearly trashed enough.

Gran Turismo Sport

#4 in the German top 10 Software for October
#4 in the Spanish top 10 Software for October
#4 in the French top 10 Software for Week 48
#4 in the United Kingdom top 10 Software for Week 48

Despite games like Fifa 18, Call Of Duty World War 2, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 getting a ton more marketing and advertising promotion? Oh and here in the UK Gran Turismo actually went up in price. I figured I'd add that caveat before anyone suggests the the sustained success of the game is due to a price drop.

It's not false, Gran Turismo 5 and 6 were not £20 a few weeks after launch. And the promised campaign is yet to be assessed, given the previous lies of Polyphony Digital regarding singleplayer I'm doubtful it will be anything significant.

Can someone say how far is SMO from Crash? Is there any chance it ends up salling more (it would be pretty sad if it didn't)

All mainline God of War games have released in March so PS4 GoW will probably follow that pattern.

Black Friday week PS4+XBO was 243k with XBO taking up less than 100k of that total. Best week for PS4 since launch week.

It's not toally false, GTSport got a price cut during BF and the following days in Europe, 29,99€ across Italy, Germany, France etc..
They are not selling at full price.

He said they're not making any money. Look at the UK value chart, they're making more money with the huge discounts than they would by keeping full price.

Why would they do that? Maybe a lot of people love the game for what it offers: a great online experience.

Also, did you know updates are coming?

It debuted to bigger first week sales than either previous titles.
It actually sold better FW than the other Xenoblade games, for reference the first Xenoblade Chronicles still placed 7th in its launch at 6k units because Summer is a slow period.
It sold better than the last game that.... sold really bad. Doesn't make it any better =/ We need more JRPGs and XC2 is a good JRPG. Seeing those numbers hurts.

The down playing of GTS is funny as this point .
Yes it had a price but how many games even with that going sell over 300k in the UK and that is not counting DD .
Plus it GaaS it made to make money long term .

I'm happy if you're enjoying the improved online races, but a lot of the old-school Gran Turismo fans enjoyed the singleplayer and car collecting elements of the game. The reviews on Amazon and elsewhere reflect this dissatisfaction.

Yes, I read about the updates, I might buy if they reintroduce the car collecting and expand the car roster to match GT5 and 6. I'm waiting for more details though, Polyphony Digital originally claimed GT Sport had a singleplayer "campaign" which turned out to be just the license tests...

JRPGs are just a niche in European countries other than France. Maybe the anime look will help sales in Southern Europe.
