So I've managed to clock in about 11-12 hours and I think I'm nearly at end game where you finish all faction related quests. Short recommendation: Get it on a deep sale or when it's on Game Pass. It's not worth getting full price right now. I found it a deeply disappointing experience and that's considering that my expectations weren't even that high and just wanted a dumb, open world shooter to blast through.
I was not expecting much but still came out disappointed. There is still fun to be had but it could've come out much better than this.
- The shooting as almost everyone has said is really good and satisfying with excellent animations backed with tight sound design. Even the spongier enemies feel good to shoot because elements like weapon design, animations, sounds...etc are just so well done to begin with. Abilities are cool but probably too reliable when fights get hectic. The actual combat are the only real high this game has to offer. Performance on rig was good, no complaints there. As for the mixed and negatives...
- This is an utterly terrible open-world map where almost nothing is worthwhile if you're not in the POI (points of interest) content from bandit camps, road blocks, mutant nests...etc. The space between said content is so sparse that the hover craft to fly over the vast majority of my playtime because I just did not want to bother to traverse with the regular vehicles.
- Speaking of vehicles, they're so terrible at handling for the exception of the main vehicle and hover craft. Like I legitimately laughed out loud at just how awful the controls for the bike were. And dear lord help you, if you even think about driving off-road and you'll just be bouncing and losing control all over the goddamn place with even the smallest bit of geometry or scenery. Like these guys totally miss the point of open world games if they made anything outside the main paths so bad to traverse.
- This is honestly one of the most nothing storylines I've experienced recently. No stakes, no worthwhile characters, dreadful pacing, awfully edited dialogue (I honestly could not believe the amount of times NPCs where repeating information as if the writers were terrified the audience is constantly losing interest so they have to keep reminding with dreadful over-exposition). Tonally, it's all over the place where it can't decide it wants to be Borderlands or Fallout which the end-result is a complete mess of unfunny quips and dull exposition. This is totally not the "So wacky and over-the-top, in your face!" type shooter the trailers made it out to be.
