That might be true in your case, but it's not for the vast majority of people outraged at this, especially outside of Era, because you never hear them when it's something like this. Framing the pushback about rampant female sexualization as "mindless prudishness" and that gender "doesn't matter" is highly disingenuous when that gender just happens to be female in the 99.99% of cases. Let's not fool ourselves into believing that the objective here was artistic expression and not garden variety videogame female sexualization 101.
The problem is that Sony shouldn't be deciding on what is tasteful or not. Consumers can decide that for themselves. And if people find something to be distasteful... they can simply avoid supporting that game or they can take it up with the developer/publisher of said game. We have a ratings system. We can make our own decisions. We don't need Sony to behave like an overprotective parent.
Yes, this recent bout of Sony censorship that has only included censoring minors and characters of a questionable age. To somehow infer from this that Cyberpunk 2077 will be censored is delusional. Get a fucking grip, already.
I could get behind Sony on this one if they weren't making a graphic hyper violent game. Too me, watching a persons intestines being ripped from their body while also being hung is more offensive and worthy of censoring over a butt cheek in DMCV.
They also censored God of War Ascension, Heavy Rain, Beyond, The Last of Us, etc. in Europe. So it's not only 3rd Parties.
Well, I don't care about this particular scene, but if it is indicative of future policy on Sonys side, well, that could seriously making me consider changing my main platform. I don't want to be treated like a 12 year old.

The game is one of the greatest games of all time. The nudity was completely pointless and detracted from the quality of the game IMO. It shouldn't have been there in the first place so I don't care whatsoever about whether it's censored or not.

The Japanese version does not have the lens flares. You can see it in several livestreams and youtube videos.
Genuinely feel like games like RE2 and LoU2 are so rooted in violence and celebration of their gore that i get concerned a bit. You can make an argument for MK11 being so over the top that its not as bad as those games but i dunno man.

Could they enabled it during the localisation process for the PS4 or forgotten it in that build.

Oh, I should've phrased that a bit more clearly, I guess. I was referring to me specifically. Of course that's not going to be true for everyone. And yes, the gender imbalance when it comes to sexual objectification in the media (and especially in games) is a problem that needs to be addressed (and the only proper solution will be development studios and publishers becoming more diverse places). That being said, I sincerely doubt that censorship like this happens as an attempt to rectify that imbalance. In this scene, for instace, even in the censored version you can still see most of her nude body, it's very clear that she's completely naked and the weird lens flare doesn't really change anything from an objectification point of view. So yeah, I do think that the motivation behind this was simple prudishness (or an attempt to appeal to "family values" in an 18+ game...) and nothing else.
see post above yours. I've heard that floating around and checked but I couldn't find a single instance of PC footage with the lens flare.
RE Engine does have some resolution-related bugs with some effects. Screen Space Reflections get even more fucked than they already are when you go over 1080p, for example, so that could explain the PS4 having "properly-placed lens flare" and the Xbox One not having it (native 1080p vs reconstructed 1080p).
It doesn't explain the PS4 West vs PS4 Japan difference, though.
Easiest way to test this would be for a Base PS4 player to play that scene three times to see if it shows different lens flare behavior and it's just a bug.

I'm almost wondering if maybe the Japanese release not having the lens flare is actually a mistake and Capcom was supposed to also change it there as well. I guess we'll see.

I despise corporations trying to enforce their standards for what is and isn't ok to show in a piece of art. Yes, I know all console manufacturers ban outright pornographic games, but I guess that doesn't bother me so much because I grew up with it. But I personally cannot accept any further impairments to freedom of expression in games. No joke, this might actually affect my decision to buy a PS5. I might actually do something I never thought I'd do; to be PC/Nintendo only for the future. After all, I could spare a lot of money for my gaming PC by not getting a PS5... :-(
