I'm about 60% sure we will get a character announcement but I could see it just being... nothing.
If we don't get one now I assume they will be announced after Banjo is detailed.
But I think it's gonna be like this:
September Direct: Fighter 4 reveal
October: Banjo breakdown and release
December: Fighter 4 breakdown and release
January Direct: Fighter 5 reveal
February: Fighter 5 breakdown and release

I always knew Hitagi was full of it. The way they talked about things like "Banjo was never even on the table" made it obvious they were being fed BS. Nobody on that level has intel that close to the real deal.

The idea of fighting against a fast zoning character with multiple teleports and the ability to rewind damage makes me a bit uncomfortable. At least in OW and HotS you had allies to help you deal with it :S
Despite having guns, making Tracer a zoner wouldn't be true to her source material.
I'm fine with any character from a new franchise that makes sense. Overwatch in Smash feels like a cynical business move on Nintendo's part but Tracer has become a pretty big (if very recent) gaming icon and a legit lesbian in Smash would be pretty novel. I just... don't really care anymore after Banjo got in, lol. Nobody left that I want enough to be mad at their exclusion.
Smash Ultimate has more than catered to my personal tastes. I'm fine with this not being the case for the last two characters.
I'd take Tracer over most first party characters that aren't already Spirits/Assist Trophies.
I'd be fine with Tracer as Smash is sorely lacking Western made characters as a whole (Even with Banjo being added). Though I do agree that it would be an odd fit for many to accept.

I don't think Tracer would be zoning based at all. If anything I envision her being like Falcon with some Megaman like normals for her pistols.

It never said it was Tracer tbf. It just ended up fitting really well thanks to Overwatch Switch case leak that happened at the same time or rather people unearthing it when people started to speculate about Smash

Riddle me this, would the inclusion of this character into Smash cause the same reactions that the 4Chan user foretold? Is she a character who is not that demanded who would cause confusion and disappointment to a lot?

A pretty popular IP that would be huge to have in Smash with a wide variety of recognizable characters that fit very well in the Smash aesthetic from a very notable and respected game developer. Not really hard to see why Overwatch could be in Smash tbh
Jeff Kaplan said the port would be difficult to make at their workload so I'd imagine this was something in the works for a while especially around Diablo III's release. I don't think an Overwatch Switch port would be something they would throw out in less than a year. Especially a polished Switch port
