RIP Craig Marduk.
My college roommate doesn't even want to play Tekken anymore now that he's gone.

Honestly 3 days after the DLC3 trailer I felt a bit of a revelation... Noctis already looks far better animated than any other regular Tekken character right now. And Tekken's hit animations during juggles where the opponent is sent somersaulting 20 feet in the air and stuff just looks so much more appropriate when you see it done with by someone swinging this impossibly large weapons everywhere and summoning lightning strikes down.
All this time I've been wanting Tekken to be more and more grounded but after watching the Noctis trailer I feel that the Namco of today would probably be far better off to just get rid of all the martial arts aspect of the series and go full fantasy sci-fi. When you compare how Noctis looks vs Shaheen/Katarina/Gigas/Claudio/etc. I think they should double down on the over the top nature since that looks to be the current Tekken team's true calling.
Watching the TWT finals has me questioning why I'm even playing stuff like MVCI at all. Gonna pick T7 up on Black Friday after not playing this series since 4.
Seems to be heading that way. Although I have a soft spot for the martial arts, and that seemed to be their core concept. I can't disagree with people saying he looks like he belongs in Soul Calibur (RIP 6...)
To be fair, the seafood for a head part is new.Daily reminder that Yoshimitsu, a teleporting, sword swinging, possibly immortal space ninja with seafood for a head, has been in Tekken since the very first game.
A bit random but what archetype was Zafina? Was she a defensive character? CH based?
I knew about the hot part, at least.
and OH GOD, THOSE THROWS GIMME THIS CHARACTER HAARAADDDAAAAAA
Oh man , I'm about to go to work , I'll be on tonight. If you only were available 24 h ago , I was playing like 4 h in the morning. :(
Try taking a step back sometimes and ask yourself what you've done wrong in a fight and why things are happening the way they are. If you're being interrupted that means that your offense has holes. Try closing them so your opponent has no choice but to respect your offense. For example, transitioning to RDS is only really worth it if you hit your opponent, so 1,d+2 should only be transitioned into RDS as a punish, otherwise you're open for attacks. 1,d+2,1+2 on the other hand is interruptable, so you could try delaying the d+2 to get your opponent to run right into it. If you do that the 1+2 at the end is much more likely to hit, giving you that sweet 4~3 follow up.
Something I like to start my offense with is d/f+1. If you hold a direction after that she doesn't transition into RDS. Now you can apply your 50/50, even better if the d/f+1 hits, which leaves you at quite the advantage.
Approaching your opponent always has some sort of strategy behind it. Xiaoyu isn't a heavy hitter, so you have to poke your way through your opponent's defense. Opening up an opponent with a solid defense requires quite the effort, which is why Ling is not an easy character to play as.

you from EU? I'm on campus currently, so even if you are expect a bit lag, lol
I thought 1, d+2 was a poke, not a punish. I prefer doing 2, 1 more though because far too often, I try 1, d+2 and I just get d+1 instead. Interestingly enough though, that has saved me far too many times, lol.
I guess when I think gimmick characters, I'm thinking frame trappers. Played a Lili this weekend who destroyed me for thinking I could punish her after blocking certain moves that put her at +frames
I watched Group C and D of the Tekken World Tours, hardly paying attention to Group D because nobody played characters I'm interested in (I looked up and saw a Dragonuv mirror match and immediately stopped caring). KaneandTrench...everyone was just better. Also, Tissuemon reminded me that my Raven is hot garbage. There were a few things that he did that I hadn't seen before. I might be spending some time in nonranked trying to get that stuff down. Alas, Raven is a character I *want* to play, but I don't even think I'll be able to get her to a place where I feel...confident, if that makes sense.
It's a poke and her 10 frame punisher. Just saying that it's way smarter to transition to RDS if you know it will hit. 2,1 is good as well.
There's a lot of stuff that is considered gimmicky in Tekken, but bear in mind that Ling is generally a character that has quite a lot of crush moves. When crush moves were introduced, she got quite a big share of that cake. Especially people who generally base their approach more on frames rather than feel hate characters like that. Attacking when you're at an advantage only to get crushed with AOP stuff for example? It's frustrating.
Group D was the best out of the bunch. Mr. Naps vs Nobi was one of the best sets in the whole tournament and got the crowd all hyped.
Tissuemon was doing a pretty damn good job with Master Raven. He didn't get 4th place in that tournament by accident.
She was good a crushing attacks even before "crush" became an official term. There's a lot of stuff that is considered gimmicky in Tekken, but bear in mind that Ling is generally a character that has quite a lot of crush moves. Other low crushes:Can't think of low crushes besides HOP kick and u/f+3+4, one of my favorites.

Best stream~
No problem my man, I'll add you and we can play when we catch each other online
Just came back home after the Brussels Challenge, in Belgium. Lots of fun, i died pretty quickly, but i've learned a lot of stuff during all the freeplay i had.
I really enjoy Kazumi, and i think she's really helping me to "learn how to play Tekken". I need to be more solid with her, and i also need to work on my reactions / hit confirms, i always feel like i'm 1-2F late when i try to block a "damaging" low / confirm a hit.
Oh nice, feel free to add me too, Gegz, EU !
A flowchart-y Hwoarang player from Spain with a terrible connection.
A gimmick-y Lucky Chloe with a really bad connection.
An Italian. Honestly though, his connection was all over the place, but still better than the Hwo and LC fights.
I also had a random disconnect at some point. The only thing missing was a gimmick-y Ling player who winquits after one match and a Dragunov player that ragequits on my promotion or demotion.
The best thing about this though is that my Gameplay was HORRIBLE. I wasn't even mad or salty, I just couldn't stop laughing. Squirrel and Nus seemed to have a great time as well :p
Here's the stream: http://www.twitch.tv/uchihasasuke_91/v/202462914?sr=a
It starts at ~0:50:00 mark.
But you play Ling.
Double post but who gives an eff.
So I decided to record some of my matches and get some critiques. First off, I know that I have a real bad tendency to do some random stuff in neutral, thinking I have a read. Really trying to cut back on that.
So here's set number 1 versus an Alisa, and here'sset number 2 versus a Feng.
EDIT: df+2,1 might actually be a punish for roo kick. If she has some way to get out of it I can't find it. It beats the parries and she can't turn around quickly enough. Crouch jab and generic BT kick get CH.
Main her if you think she's so strong.
At the very least play her for research, see what your opponents do against said bullshit.
I guess Lars' best mid options to hit low profile are d2 (hits everything) and df2,1 (hits everything except AoP duck, but launches).
db+2 seems to hit Ling pretty consistently in AOP and cali roll. b+1 will also screw her during the roll but it's not as consistent vs AOP, he can also punish the roo kick with 2,1,4 for a decent 44 damage.
