Well seeing as Trump has a long history obeying the law and telling the truth I think we should believe him.

I mean when had Trump EVER lied or done something that is questionably legal?

If the president and his current lawyers weren't such absolutely stupid criminals, I wouldn't be able to stand reading the constant mental gymnastic table turning coming out their side. Keep on talking and whining and bitching your way into a grave under the prison.

It's weird reading a prepared statement coming from Trump which is so obviously not written by him. While most presidents/government officials must have their statements and addresses prepared by other writers all the time, one can still somehow believe that those words were put together by the official themselves. Trump's normal speech pattern and vocabulary is so simple (and weird) that a statement like this is unthikable to have come from him (though it does read as if it must have been transcribed verbatim from his lawyer's email, with no attempt to actually refine it match his voice or audience).

Means nothing if its not under oath. Go get sworn in and tell a judge that and we'll see if the evidence backs up your claims.

Well, he's convinced me.

How long are his remaining lawyers willing to put up with this? Or more importantly, how many GOOD lawyers would be willing to work for this guy? I try to imagine talented lawyers turning down the opportunity to work for other Presidents but I doubt it was an issue at all.

Cohen ain't shit at this point Trumpo. I wonder which we'll get first; the n-word tape, the pee-tape, the other Apprentice tapes, Mueller's final report, the arrest of your children, Jeffrey Epstein revelations, collusion with the Saudis, collusion with the Israelis, collusion with the Russians, collusion with the Chinese, evidence of your mob ties, inescapable state charges, money laundering, financial ties to terrorist groups...

I mean god damn dude. Forget the pornstars. You are about to become history's most turbofucked person.

I love that they give Trump just enough information and rope to continually hang himself out to dry on tweets. He burns down his credibility (what little he had) more and more every month. The meltdowns are beautiful.

A lot of people, like Michael Cohen's lawyer, have a history of running towards shitshows that concern sitting presidents

Huh, he didn't know its against the law. I guess that's why he suggested Cohen pay Pekar in cash. Bigly smart

If this were the president of a Central/South American or African country making comments about a just sentenced former subordinate.

Those comments about his family being let off the hook would be pretty ominous and scary.

If I can prove that I never broke the law
Do you promise not to tell another soul what you saw?

I saw a funny Trump related story yesterday which doesn't warrant its own thread. DT Jr was saying he knows his dad often re-gifts him things that were monogrammed "DT" or similar at Christmas. And he knows this for sure because he told his dad one year, "I know you didn't get this gift for me because I gave it to you last year." At least he was getting something though, unlike Melania probably.

I might have missed something here on this "his family temporarily got off the hook!" Line, but for what reason or basis would they go after Cohen's family though? (And it can't be forfeiture because... Cohen still had to do this regardless, and we have zero info any of his family was complicit or involved in this as far as I know)

Does Trump know something we don't?

You had a superPAC in the primary and lied to the public and press claiming you didn't have one. Lewandowski told me all about it. You defamed me to silence me & when I sent you a cease & desist you tried to get me to sign an NDA in exchange for you deleting the tweets about me.

He's really the worst

Some Americans are, only because his racism is seen as more important than any other duty, including preserving rule of law and democracy. That's just what some of America is today.

ah the classic "I had no knowledge that laws were being broken so I can't be found guilty!"

Donny.. not knowing the speed limit doesn't mean you can't be given a ticket for speeding.

if only.. if only.. there were some sort of record. maybe a reproduction of his voice.. telling Cohen to make the payments.

After this whole debacle, there needs to be amendments made to the Constitution. The POTUS should not be above the law, and it's insane that we're in this position where a criminal is occupying the Office, and they're able to tamper with witnesses and dangle pardon bribes, and install Supreme Court and AG people to support them, and maintain clear business conflicts of interest, and never release their taxes, and even debate whether they can pardon themselves. Insanity.

It would be so beautiful if he was made an example of, in this case, and given a long sentence.
The schadenfreude would be biblical.

Can we take a moment to take in the fact the president of the United States is on Twitter defending himself from his blatant illegal actions his cronies are going to jail for and that he would likely go to jail too if he were not the sitting president.

According to the "rule of law," nobody is above the law. Source my citizen exam :) Its one of the 100 question you can be asked. Page 4 Question 12.

Quick Civics Lessons for the Naturalization Test

What is the "rule of law"?
• Everyone must follow the law.
• Leaders must obey the law.
• Government must obey the law.
No one is above the law.
