I'm really impressed that Nintendo still had these high quality voice files. Just makes me sad Square Enix didn't have higher quality voice files from Final Fantasy 12, or higher quality backgrounds from Final Fantasy 9 to put in their HD releases.
So according to you preservation = keeping it but locking it away secret? Am I reading that right? Cause I certainly don't see it this way. I think being able to analyze and appreciate the preservation is the important part of it personally but that's just me.
Wow really? That is kind of unfortunate but it's a cool story!IIRC weren't some of the FF12 lines recorded over phone calls?
Well that does happen to be exactly how warp paintings work in Odyssey. 🤔I never thought about it before but this map implies the paintings are merely transporting Mario to other areas on his planet rather than to different dimensions
Do you mean ISDN?IIRC weren't some of the FF12 lines recorded over phone calls?
Pretty sure someone made that up.IIRC weren't some of the FF12 lines recorded over phone calls?
The "L is Real" texture is in the final release of OOT.
Is there a link?it's wild how the uncompressed voice lines for SF64 sound so different to me
like I guess I was so used to the highly compressed versions
That's more or less confirmed when they return in Galaxy.I never thought about it before but this map implies the paintings are merely transporting Mario to other areas on his planet rather than to different dimensions
God, I really wish the Banjo-Kazooie beta was in here. THAT is a game I'd kill to see the behind the scenes data on.
Hopefully Rare has better software security than Nintendo lol
Same. I remember seeing the early Lost Woods pictures in a magazine before release, this one and the one with a Poe, and thinking how cool and mysterious it looked.Something I really loved in the Zelda 64 beta screenshots is stuff like the fog

I know it was just done to obscure draw distance but it really added a sense of mystery and atmosphere to the early game previews
There's several files referring to jet skis in the WR64 folder, so I wouldn't expect it.That WR64 folder is probably gonna get ignored with Mario and Zelda and stuff, but I wonder if there could be anything about its early version, pre-jetskis
