Awesome screenshots guys . And yet there are some who still doubt this gen graphics leap . In comparison x360/ps3 , while they aren't bad and was impressive back then , the difference in complexity , details and lighting is staggering .

Your opinion is yours...i just don't understand why you keep pretending what red dead is doing is so simple at the same time.
i am not pretending anything. i played through these games. i feel that RDR2's setting allows it to do things other games cannot due to being more grounded, but it is also why i also find other games more mind blowing graphically.
of course it is my opinion, the thread is asking personal opinons, but it is a fact that these games handle more complex models than red dead.

As for RDR2, the 2d foliage brings it quite a lot down for me. It does look fine in most areas though but it's really not the best looking.
that is another point i agree with, the foliage in red dead was lacking IMO.

Hard to pick, so many beautiful games. I guess I'd go with The Last Guardian, the typical Team Ico atmosphere with that distinct lighting is just so beautiful to me, and as someone who finds good animations one of the most important aspects in making a game look good, the way Trico moves is incredible.

HZD. Real close with RDR2 though. Like I'll probably flip-flop on both a bunch. TLoU 2 is looking like it'll give both a real good run for their money though.
Art style wise probably Bloodborne.

Red dead does things other games can't...so you hold it against it? Alright...

Final Fantasy XV on PC. Both technically and aesthetically.
Honorable mention: Persona 5 for being the most stylish game.

You know why, buddy. XD

Spider-Man is also quite stunning, even Digital Foundry chose it as part of their graphically top games of 2018, right next to RDR2.

Awesome shots.. and yes, I know what that was for! :P

I'll post some gifs as always. :P

As a complete package RDR2 is impressive but i think HZD have better looking envoirments and UC4, GoW and The order have better looking character models.

Horizon Zero Dawn is just a cut above the competition. To me it's the best looking game of the generation, it also helps that it has the most engaging and fun ranged combat of the generation as well.

I'm surprised to see so many horizon mentions. The humans are straight fugly to me.

I've got to go with red dead on the X. Its mind blowing.

Resident evil 2 is great.

I think it's still Monster Hunter World. It was my first Monster Hunter game and everything about it I loved in the single player experience. I was out hunting monsters and crafting gear and getting progressively stronger and then I found the multiplayer end-game stuff and I just fell in love all over again. I do wish the online connecting worked better and that the hub was actually the whole base. If they improve the way you connect to people in the next MH, I might never leave my house. And, I typically hate playing online with other people.

Is Monster Hunter World generally considered a good-looking game? I found it meh, personally. Also, Horizon's animations totally ruined that game for me.

Couldn't really choose and tuned sick of all the over-confident "opinions" here. A lot of games look extremely good these days.
Now it's up to creativity and gameplay for devs.

Ori and The Blind Forst & Hollow Knight for me - though Will of the Wisps will likely take the crown

This is interesting. How's the game itself?

It's fantastic.

Slower paced than traditional genre peers as it's so closely hewed to the novel's roots. That can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for.

(If you're reading reviews be sure to check the dates on them. Game was dunked on by some initially as it only launched with the 1st of 3 chapters. It's content complete now though.)

Overall I would say Horizon Zero Dawn for the amount of spectacular and psychedelic action.
Red Dead Redemption 2 for the hyperrealism.
Zelda Breath of the Wild and Gravity Rush 2 for the art direction.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the game that wowed me the most considering it is a huge open world game and I played it on my standard Playstation 4. I didn't think it was possible and I can only dream of what GTA 6 is going to look like on next gen.

Horizon: Zero Dawn for me. Just crazy how good that game looked and continues to look. Wonder if it's long enough since I played it to replay it? hmmm Some incredible looking games this gen though that is for sure.

Witcher 3 for it's combination of excellent art and technical prowess. Separately it wouldn't be my number one pick on either of those categories, but love the overall package. Edit: I have a mediocre PC so the screenshot could look better! Shoutout to Ori and the Blind Forest too!

Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth
I've been playing it a bit recently! Liking it so far and I agree it has some beautiful art, but also looks bit uneven to me. Especially the animations are lacking, but can look gorgeous on screenshots.

while not even able to compete with most of the other mentioned games in technical aspects, i think botw has been the prettiest game i've played this gen, it impressed me both with its art style and its scope. that is a very meh screenshot of the game in the OP tho.

from games i haven't played, based on what i've seen i find gow 2018 to be very pretty. its use of color is very nice and the art style and aesthetics of the world and characters are very pleasing to me.

Why is BOTW among these titles? It has 0 draw distance and in console resolution leaves a lot to be desired.

BOTW for sure. Nothing better than being 35,000 feet up in the sky playing a game that looks (and plays) that beautiful.

I guess because for some people it looks amazing? Especially in handheld mode. I can't play God of War or other similar games on a plane so it doesn't really register for me.
