This is not slowing down anytime soon. Your move, Iger.

No kidding! I signed the petition. He apologized many years ago and Disney knew what Gunn did in the past when they hired him. His attitude and the way he presents himself has changed and his employer should judge him for his present actions, not past.

The cast of Guardians is huge with many big actors. I can also see them making a stand at some point...maybe a you rehire or there isn't a 3rd movie. Ensemble cast makes this possible. These movies make over a billion each...no way Disney is not worried right now.

Man, I never watched Slither. I am a fan of Tromeo and Juliet since I was a teenager (I find the weirdest mix of perversion, gross and cute ever put in film) and really like Super, but Slither. Nope. Just looks like gratuitous gore to me. How wrong am I?

You know when it would have been the best opportunity to take a stance against pedophilia? When Polanski did it.

This has nothing to do with Gunn's tweets and everything to do with Disney not wanting the alt right to smear them. Cowards.

Are companies really that afraid of Trump and his shitbag followers?

Very wrong. There's some gore but it's a hilarious movie. Nathan Fillion, Jenna Fischer, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker. What more can you ask for?

Pretty wrong. It's a fun throwback to 80's horror-comedies, with a good cast and some great gags.

Slither is awesome. It's like a classic 80s critter style horror movie with a super great cast. It is super violent but it's tongue in cheek.
Mostly practical gore effects too

don't care so much about right and wrong as they care about seeing people suffer.

I feel like that's always the motivation when it's someone not holding public office, otherwise you wouldn't want someone to lose their livelihood in the private sector, it has to do more with some kind of revenge and anger than with justice

Which is bizarre because the right can't boycott or protest for shit.
It may be because most of the people who actually own and run these companies are right wing or have the deepest pockets. But in all honesty, I have no idea why.

Fine, 250k. Biggest one I've made yet. Let's see them go beyond that.

It's about to break 215k, your prediction is going down for sure. QUICK MAKE ANOTHER ONE

The fact that Disney bowed to right wing pressure looking for blood after Roseanne is fucking disgusting. The situations are literally nothing alike. Plus there's a big fucking difference between someone telling bad taste jokes and being a fucking racist. To top off the hypocrisy Gunn apologized and moved on years ago while Roseanne is a fucking racist today.

Yes. Corporations have ALWAYS been more afraid of the right than the left. It's why right wing extremism is so effective at shifting the narrative and the Overton window.

I don't know about all that. I mean look at what happened in North Carolina. The HB2 anti-trans bill had certain corporations boycotting the shit out of it, costing the state nearly 700 million dollars.

It's a big reason why Roy Cooper beat the incumbent.

What we're possibly seeing now is an overextension, bowing to the most disensgeonus of campaigns run by unsavory characters, with any and all nuance thrown out the fucking window.

I don't mean to say the left can't have an effect on corporations because they absolutely can, just that the right seems to have to expend far less effort to get their attention.

lol, what changed your mind?

Well, I still think it won't do much since I'm convinced Gunn was fired for his Anti-Trump activism more than anything else. I do think the speaking out of his co-stars and others in the industry is more effective. But, if people really think me clicking on to a petition will change Disney's mind then it's the very least I can do.

Signed. I don't care if Didney reconsiders or not, I just hope we can make a point here and prove that there is a difference between bad / weird humor and actual douchebags and that not all cases are the same.

Forbes contributor article about response to the news at SDCC and the spread of the subsequent backlash to the news.
"Let's prove we -and corporations like Disney- can tell the difference between a truly fireable offense and a smear campaign," said artist Bill Sienkiewicz, co-creator of Legion, in a Facebook post rallying support for Gunn. "[We need to] show the regressive Right (and the knee jerk overly fanatical and reactionary PC Left) that their warped tactics of political destruction and Bizarro vision of what constitutes accountability won't work any longer. Prove we have learned perspective and grasped what true responsibility is; what apologies, making amends and growth and personal evolution can mean these days."

That bit about the "pc left" doesn't sound like Sienkiewicz and you generally don't see parenthesis used like that within a quote.

Wondering if that's embellishment considering it's a Forbes contributor

I've just heard some very depressing rumors from someone I consider to be a trusted source about all of this. From what I understand-no matter how many people sign this, he's not coming back.

And it has to do with someone else's decision. Someone who has the clout to keep Gunn off the movie.

Details?

It seems pretty clear this was a knee-jerk reaction from Alan Horn before anybody in the Marvel camp could do anything, the turnaround from the initial report of the smear and his termination was insanely fast for such a large company.

And I largely don't blame Horn for the initial decision based on how it was reported, but now that the details of the whole thing have come forward, somebody on the executive side needs to admit that mistakes were made and a more in-depth investigation should have been done.

Regardless who your trusted source is, I don't think anyone can tell that right now. It's a developing story, this won't die down anytime soon.

That's the general impression I've gotten from the (private) social media account of an acquaintance whose profession ensures they have plenty of trustworthy industry information on-hand, too, although I want to emphasize here that I don't go on the relevant social media site nearly as often these days so it's possible they've said otherwise since.

Even the petition said so.

This petition was made as a reminder to Disney to not stick to the alt-right.

I mean I hate to be the one to say something definitive but the rumor I have been told-is that Chris Pratt didn't want to work with Gunn any longer.

This person may be wrong but things they've told me in the past have been proven true over time.

This is incredibly vague rumor spreading. You need to give some more details if you're going to say something like that.

Edit: I absolutely doubt this is true.
