I hated Vacation but if Game Night turned out solid enough I'm willing to get onboard this if only to give Ezra Miller a chance with his own Flash film.
With this duo getting the Flashpoint gig I can only assume that--
A) The studio, under Emmerich, want this film brought in for a price and these two will probably be able to do just that given that they cut their teeth at New Line under Emmerich and likely Hamada too. It won't be done on the cheap but it won't be some super extravagant, sprawling production either which, given how Justice League went for them, is probably a solid idea.
B) Word was that this live action adaptation, unlike the animated film, won't heavily feature Wonder Woman or Aquaman. I'm more inclined to believe that this will be the case and this film will be more of a Flash and (I'm assuming) Cyborg action romp rather than the all star Justice League 2.0 some predicted.
I knew WB wanted to keep Affleck on the lot but away from Batman (given his issues of the last couple of years) but offering him Flashpoint to direct is interesting. Perhaps a way to keep him in the DCU fold just not doing it onscreen? I wouldn't be surprised if Affleck ended up attached to one a Vertigo adaptation or one of those Elseworld label films in future.
