Speaking of Fragile (Lea Seydoux's character), we haven't really seen much of her, as opposed to the other characters. I believe she will play a huge role into the later half of Death Stranding; which is why Kojima isn't showing too much at TGS 2019.
To be honest, we haven't seen much of Cliff (Mads) either and he's supposed to be as prominent a character as Sam himself, probably even more prominent than Fragile. With much of the unseen world so far being Hades (WW1,WW2, Vietnam). The way in which both Sam and Cliff have identical abdominal scars makes me think there is plenty of history with these 2 characters.

Not sure if it mean anything, but Fragile got the biggest head size in the movie poster, even bigger than Amelie. Really wonder how big her role is.

(I posted this inquiry in the TGS Demo 2 thread but I'm copying it over to here because I have a hunch it's going to be lost in the shuffle of extremist arguments.)

Has any of the translated discussion at these two gameplay demonstrations revealed any clues yet as to the scope of Death Stranding's map? From what I've been able to piece together, it may be that there are a handful of "open zones" akin to the two found in Metal Gear Solid V. Alternatively, however, I remember someone in an earlier thread stating that "the map is 16km" or something along those lines. Would that imply, then, that the United Cities is a singular sprawling (and clearly tremendously downscaled, lol) map?

Only 16 km? That's plain wrong. For example, in the first gameplay footage from TGS Sam needs to do a delivery to the musician that is 3 km away from base camp. So using that as a scale there's no way the whole map is only 16 km.

We now know though that Cliff is in a lot of backstory for B.B that we can see more of when we grow our bond with B.B. Fragile's umbrella was in the private room too but they intentionally didn't interact with it...

I guess the English dub of vol 2 is coming Monday anyway.

How much is 16 km compared with other games? I am playing AC Odyssey and the longest point dot of a mission I remember was like 13 km in the game (and is a huge open world),that metric I imagine is always in a straight line. The most important is km²
PS: I didn't watched the demos,so I don't know if 3 km feels off by the scale of the map.I hope is a huge open world.

I don't quite understand why us having seen a three-kilometer trek entirely negates that whole 16km guess/hunch/evidence-based estimate or whatever it was that I read the other day. We don't have any empirical evidence right now, to the best of my knowledge, that Death Stranding is well beyond that range. In fact, it was precisely the gameplay demo bits that struck me as loading moments from one region to another which has had me considering the possibility that this isn't some massively unparalleled map in the first place!

What were the sizes of MGSV's two maps; does anyone remember offhand?

Well, the main mission in this game is going from the East coast of America to the West so I'm pretty sure the map will be huge hahaha. How this map compares to other games? That's a mistery (for now, I'm pretty sure Kojima will give us an idea soon-ish)

I could see the map being split in two — Eastern and Western regions.

Do we already know what dubbing and subtitling options the game will have? If it is just English and Japanese it will be disappointing, all Sony exclusive games have at least subtitles PT-BR, It's fine by me, but my girlfriend is expecting this game as much as I am but without at least subtitles she will be disappointed and not play which would be sad since she's even more confident in the game than me.

New character teased, dubbed in Japanese by Tomokazu Sugita! Apparently, Kojima is the only one who knows this character... Not even the other voice actors knew of this character!

Not joking and mark my words. He is a big fan of him and the latter loves Kojima and we saw them with each otehrs many times and he said he would like to work with Kojima. He suits the game very well.

A fan fan, or "fan" ?

I hate that kind of attitude though. You know the whole is such a such a real fan. It's very gatekeepry.

Buuuuut, saying that, famous people say they're fans of things all the time, but don't really mean it.
Here OP claims DS map is 2.5 times bigger than Horizon: https://www.reddit.com/r/DeathStranding/comments/d40oet/ds_map_25_times_bigger_than_hzd_map/

while it looks 3.5 times and scale is even wrong. it must be much bigger.

The mountain mission alone takes manyhours to beat.
Makes sense why Kojima would put in autosaving every time you have Same rest

The US map outline works out around 16km, but the coastline of the world doesn't actually match it at all, I don't think any of the north east land will be explorable.

I could see the map being split in two — Eastern and Western regions.

I'm thinking two or three yeah (Western and Central possibly divided somewhere in the mountains)
From Port Knot City on the map there's a narrow path, or road or tunnel or something going North West, and it's the only outlined region of the map in that area, I think you might travel in a cutscene up there the first time, leading to the vehicle accident shown at TGA, featuring the Port Knot guy.

Edit: Picture of the Eastern Region to show what I'm talking about. The distance from Capital to Port is 3615m so Capital to Edge Knot would be just over 12km in a straight line.

I think Sam standing by that giant crater to the south will be super early in the game, separate from the rest of The Game Awards scene. In the briefing Sam talks about 'Central Knot' being taken out, so it might be that event.

Found my post in this tweet:

Well Kojima kept tweeting about JD Morgan all the time and even included his toy in different tweets. He uses such toys to construct a DS scene. Now he showed himself next to him. When Kojima has fantasised about actors throughout his life, then he starts making you fantasise about them, then expect that they are already in his games and mostly in this game. JD Norman fits DS very well.

There are more tweets with him and Negan and Mads and Norman together also the DS Negan toy scenes.

Might be but the character Kojima teased is just another Prepper like Geoff Keighley, not a major cast addition. Could be JDM or could be doing the Japanese voice for Conan O' Brian. Either way it's not a major role.

The voice actress for Amelie did tease...
...there's a love triangle between Sam, Amelie and Fragile.

Kojima did offer up the anecdote that when he left Konami he was broke with no where to go. When he wanted to start up Kojima Productions and went to various banks to get a loan he was turned down at every one. It wasn't until the CEO of one of Japan's largest banks stepped in to help because he was a big fan of Kojima and his work and got him his loan.

Like wise for KojiPro's offices, nobody would lease them office space until they got the one they have now because the owner was a big fan of Kojima and his games. lol

Possible armor for Sam Did you guys see this concept art that Kojima posted on his instagram? could possibly be an endgame armor or something it looks really sweet. It really looks like Yoji Shinkawa's take on Norman Reedus. Could also be a high level Demens enemy. The BB pod is red like Higgs. Also big brain time. Anyone else think Mads Mikkelsen is playing two different characters? the wine drinking scientist and the engimatic Soldier seem really different to me. Also Amelie's dialogue from the end of the E3 2018 trailer about Sam not knowing who she is. She's also wearing a different outfit. I think there could be something going on with that.

I don't think Mads is playing 2 different characters and we really don't know much about Hades honestly. We do know that B.B mother seems to be named Lisa from the private room demo and I'm wondering if that was Sam's wife since she's pregnant in the photo?

Thats interesting stuff I missed the name of the BB's mother. Maybe not two different characters. I guess I mean more like timeline/ dimension fuckery. Like the whole chiral theme going on. Yeah Hades is definitely being kept under the hood. Id imagine some really crazy shit will go down there

We're never getting those subtitled presentations are we ? :(

Nothing so far but as linked, Kubrick on Twitch did a translation and then someone on reddit broke the info down as bullet points. Worth noting the end of the 50 minute stream has since been edited by Sony to cut the end scene of Sam in the shower.
  • When we connect the Chiral Network we are also reconnecting to our "past"; re-integrating our digital history and revealing what happened before/after the Death Stranding event (and unlocking it's mystery).
  • Some comms exist, but the Chiral Network will be instant ("zero hour") connection to data
  • Sam says the Chiral network can't transmit human souls or emotions; Die-Hardman says this is why they need him to go to each knot in-person
  • Once we are connected we can see other structures, ladders, items etc, from other players in the area

  • The Mule enemy bandits have a condition referred to as 'Delivery Syndrome'
  • Mules will steal items from you and other players nearby, and store them at their camp for you to liberate
  • Eggs and Sperm are received from the outside and delivered to cities to maintain diversity (& sustain the populace?)
  • Sam leaves a 'cairn stone' when he rests that other players can interact with, as other players rest at the same marker "things will happen"

  • The name of the player who has contributed the most upgrade resources will show on a given structure
  • We can work together to build/upgrade highways across the continent, but it will take a lot of resources
  • Prepper outposts are sidequests (i.e; Ludens Fan, Musician), they're not part of the main story
  • If packages receive too much damage, they won't be accepted at the delivery point
  • The Musician gives Sam the harmonica for returning a package, he gets more items by improving their bond level
  • You get better at the harmonica through practice, Sam will whistle if he doesn't have the harmonica equipped
  • If you wear Sam out too much he will fall asleep without you telling him to

  • The floating ghost-looking BT's are called 'Gazers', they can't be killed, only immobilized. They will take you to a 'Hunter' if they catch you
  • The Hunter in the gameplay (tentacle anus cat) is the "Catcher" and it's the weakest Hunter in the game ("small fry").
  • Our sensor works differently against hunters, doesn't blink
  • If we die to the Hunter, the void-out will make the whole town location get wiped from the map
  • Die Hardman mentions that Mama has completed work on an Anti-BT weapon
  • 50 min gameplay ends with Sam being called to meet the president (might be the Bridget scene from release date trailer).

Thank you very much for this, so much I did not get from watching with non existent notions in Japanese :)
Still hope for a full sub, I'd really like to rewatch the 2 dmos and the QA session while being able to understand everything that was said, but if not this will be more than enough , so thank you again !
