I don't like the humor, but the combat and the challenging platforming sections are really good. I love the game.

It's a great game and the combat is great too...almost feels like a fighting game system in an adventure game. The humor falls really flat though, it relies heavily on memes and pop culture references...it's really eye roll inducing. Shame they still use reference humor for the sequel although I hear it's a little toned down.

The game is still worth playing despite the humor.

The humor is fine. I haven't laughed but I haven't cringed, either. It's in no way obtrusive.

The combat is super fun.
Sold. I love a good, satisfying combat system.

From what I remember of Guacamelee, is not really the writing that is cringey but rather the lame memes it uses as background decoration. I remember the rest being great tho, so I'm planning to get it on Switch as well.

I've played a lot of games with really lame jokes and humor and Guacamelee is pretty tolerable compared to a lot of others. I found the humor in games like Super Time Force Ultra and Borderlands to be way more obnoxious

Just finished Wandersong. I don't know if it's for everyone, but I really enjoyed my time with it. It's got some great dialogue, characters, and music. Gameplay-wise, you're not going to find anything especially difficult, but it isn't that kind of game. Just very charming overall, and made me smile a lot.

I just realized: with Octopath, XC2 + Torna, TWEWY, Undertale, the upcoming FF games, and others, the Switch is fast becoming an absolute beast for rpgs.

I've been playing Steredenn for about 11-ish hours now and I just got to the final boss for the first time. I'd been having so much trouble with the previous stage that I thought I'd never break through, but then YES! VICTORY!

This is such a good game, especially considering I only paid $4 for it.

Not really. First of all, those are all JRPGs. You didn't even mention that we got Wasteland 2 or will get Pillars of Eternity 2 or that we already have Skyrim.

But PS4 still has a shitload more.

Into the Breach, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, Civilisation 6, the upcoming Fire Emblem game, Wargroove, etc.

Switch is quickly becoming a power-house for turn-based strategy RPGs.

Hey so I'm gearing up to finally buy Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon but I need help deciding which platform:

Switch or Vita?

These days I play my Switch so much more than any other device, but as a primarily handheld player I get frustrated with the JoyCons when it comes to precision inputs in 2D games.

Since there is no benefit to owning the game on Switch as someone who has a Vita and PS4 and can take advantage of the cross-buy, do you guys think Bloodstained would be better-served by the Vita's glorious D-Pad? Certainly the screen is still plenty big and beautiful and I do find the Vita more comfortable.

The only thing is, I just have my Switch with me everywhere these days and I don't have anything close to Castlevania outside Dead Cells. At least on Vita I already have Castlevania X Chronicles.

Yeah, I was gonna say Starlink. Apparently reviews should go live today.
It's funny how much bigger a release Starlink is for Switch owners than PS4 and XB1 owners simply due to the amount of high-profile AAA multiplats releasing on the other consoles around the same time.

Smart of Ubi to do the Star Fox tie-in.

Just for fun, let's just look PS4 vs Switch for October AA-AAA releases.

PS4
Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise
WWE 2k19
AC Odyssey
Call of Duty BLOPS4
Warriors Orochi 4
Starlink
Soul Calibur VI
Dark Souls Trilogy
Disgaea 1 Complete
Resonance of Fate 4k
Just Dance 2019
Red Dead Redemption 2
Call of Cthulhu
Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far
NBA Playgrounds 2
Lego DC Villians

Switch
TWEWY
Super Mario Party
Disgaea 1 Complete
Valkyria Chronicles 1
Warriors Orochi 4
Starlink
Dark Souls Remastered
Just Dance 2019
NBA Playgrounds 2
Lego DC Villians

Switch only has 2 games in those lists that aren't releasing on PS4 where as PS4 has 8 games that aren't releasing on Switch (discounting delayed ports and re-releases like DS Trilogy).

That's just October. Don't get me wrong, the Switch has a shitload of quality releases, I'm just talking about the higher-profile AA-AAA stuff.

Switch's weaker hardware really sucks sometimes. I'd kill for RDR2 on Switch even with severe graphical downgrades. But I have a PS4 so that's not a problem. Meanwhile, I'm extremely disappointed that I'm going to have to get Mark of the Ninja on PS4 because that 30fps hit on Switch is a deal breaker.

Also, where's that long rumoured GTA V port? Rockstar is sitting on a truckload of cash by not releasing ports of GTA V and RDR 1.

I'm also really surprised we haven't had port announcements of the many remasters from last gen. Batman Arkham, Bioshock Collection, Dishonored, etc.

I would have thought Bethesda would at least bring over Dishonored.

Now is the time for these ports. The Switch release calendar/library is full of holes when it comes to these types of games.

Nintendo Japan are promoting Madorica Real Estate on their website this weekend. I can't even figure out what this is? Is it even a game?

https://topics.nintendo.co.jp/c/article/d00da651-c795-11e8-9b49-063b7ac45a6d.html

It's a game.

I played through the first three training houses. The gameplay revolves around 'casting spells' with the help of hints that are hidden in every room. These spells let you warp from one room to another, reveal stuff or exorcise the ghost in a house, which is the final objective.

There are floor plans that can be downloaded to help you with solving the puzzles. I didn't need them for the first three houses, but the difficulty ramps up after the training levels so I might actually have to print them out.

The english translation is pretty bad, but it doesn't seem to be a problem for the actual gameplay and the story is irrelevant to enjoying this game.

'Tumblestone' is at €3.24 in the European eShop, and at this price, it's a steal.

It's one of the finest puzzle games in the system, and it has an insane amount of content.

Only the story mode, with 12 different worlds, it has 40 hours of gameplay, scratching a very similar itch to the 'Picross' series. In the sense that the game is about turn based puzzles with a fixed solution and without random elements.

Every world has a new gimmick, and some of the puzzles are really clever and well designed.

The local competitive multiplayer modes are also superb. It's an ideal game for casual parties with friends who normally don't play videogames.

Indeed, I prefer this to 'Puyo Puyo Tetris' for playing with casual friends.

Don't get me wrong: 'Puyo Puyo Tetris' is a fucking masterpiece. But it's too technical, too fast, they have overcomplicated even the classic 'Tetris' formula with crazy rules, combos, chains and whatnot.

And at the end, 'Puyo Puyo Tetris' requires a lot of practice, learning some of the most advanced techniques. Plus a good player will completely destroy to the rest of people.

I love how 'Tumblestone' is in the opposite spectrum. Most of your friends who don't play videogames, will be able to be competitive and perform well.

You can have one multiplatfotm last gen port on Switch. What would it be? Could be a game with a current-gen port like GTA V or a game with no modern port like Red Dead Redemption.

Some titles to consider:

Portal 2
Fallout New Vegas
Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen
Arkham Asylum
Battlefield 4
Mass Effect 2
Bioshock
Ultra Street Fighter IV
XCOM - Enemy Within
Marvel vs Capcom 3

A tough call. I may pick Fallout: New Vegas with GTAV and Portal 2 close behind.

I bought Game Dev Story.

I paid twelve bucks for a four-dollar game on Android which has only taken advantage of the Switch's capabilities by giving me more character spaces for which to name the games that my company develops.

And yet, I feel fucking GREAT about this purchase. This is going on my GotY honorable mentions list where all the other ports and re-releases are listed.

Any new content at all?

Lords of Shadow. Many people will have played the 3DS game and not the original game.

Also, it would be preferable games without ties with others like Vanquish or Sleeping Dogs.

Damn, looking at that list reminds me of why the last generation did so little for me. Out of that list, I guess I'd take XCOM as I've either played all the rest or didn't care much for them

If we're talking last generation specifically and ignoring Nintendo releases like the Super Mario Galaxy games and Skyward Sword, I'd take the Castlevania games and the Ace Attorney spin-off games starring Miles Edgeworth more than anything else

I just want to say that Ninjin has one of the best Eshop demos ever.

5 levels that you can replay as much as you want, lots of swords to buy, hilarious writting, satisfying combat, a corgi as a shopkeeper

Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge. As you can probably tell, I like Ninja Gaiden games. Maybe Dead Or Alive 5 Last Round.

Or a Yakuza game. I've never played one of those before.

Also, Nintendo, where's my Devil's Third Switch port???

New Vegas or Xcom would be my 2nd and 3rd choices.

Portable Dragon's Dogma would be amazing and the Switch could sure as hell do it. I ran that thing on an Radeon 270 and it ran fine. Not perfect but fine. Switch could run it. Capcom would never do it though

Failing that, the Directors Cut of Deus Ex, but with the yellow filter.

Give me XCOM Enemy Within since that's the expansion that adds mechs and genetically modified soldiers to the game. Or XCOM 2 since I never played 2.

Edit: Actually, I'd rather want 2 since again, never played it and would like to see how it is compared the EU and EW. Wait you said last gen port. Ok Nevermind Enemy Within it is then!

Ya I'm gonna buy this now for my wife and me. I showed her the Puyo Puyo Tetris Demo once and she felt an instant overkill in just the presentation, so it's good that this one is a little less "frantic".

I liked NG3RE. The only "Sigma" that actually improved the base game.

Speaking of which Team Ninja Dog should do a NG Trilogy for all 3 current consoles + PC.

DoA5 LR would be a very smart move. There's no other 3D fighters outside Pokken which is pretty weird and targets a different audience. A F2P fighter would be nice for the community, especially since you wouldn't need NOS to play it. And it's the best kind of F2P fighter, one where you can buy a premium unlock of the retail version of Last Round for $40. Those factors should lead to a pretty solid community of players.

Plus, it's a great game with heaps of content.

I'm kind of surprised there isn't a port already since TN still supports the game with DLC and Dead or Alive Dimensions was an early 3DS title. DoA5+ already exists for Vita but it's super obsolete at this point.

Damn, now I really want it. The JoyCons are terrible for 2D fighters but I think they would be perfectly fine for a fighter like DoA5.

Yeah, i really want either EW or 2 but I'd be happy with EW if that was the only option.

I have 2 on PS4 and I have EW on PS3 and iPad, but I don't play PS3 anymore and had to delete EW from my iPad for space (it's huge!). I also have EU+ on Vita but it's super rough with looong load times.

2 is pretty awesome but it's a different pace. Very aggressive.
