Is there JP/EN dual audio like in the original release?
Yes. No extra download necessary.

What has been changed aside from graphics?
The UI has been completely redone with lots of quality-of-life additions like a proper quest tracker, a more compact interface (retaining the look of the original), and new menus. The inventory can now also hold way more items (not aware of any limits). There are also several new modes:
  • Event Theater: View cutscenes you have encountered in the game. Lets you change time of day, weather, and switch out some outfits.
  • Time Attack Trials: Similar to Challenge Battle from Xenoblade 2, fight special battles for certain rewards two setups (custom party and fixed party)
  • Expert Mode: Not a "Hard Mode" but it enables the ability to stockpile XP to artificially make the game more challenging. Similar to how XP worked in Xenoblade 2 with the inn stockpile, you don't lose anything but can distribute it at will.
  • Casual Mode: Lowers enemy/combat difficulty

How does the switching between OG music and arranged music work?
You can switch between OG and arranged music at any point in the audio menu (where you also change the game language). You can change field music and battle music independently. However, there is no toggle for cutscene music.

Can I skip right to Future Connected without playing the main game first?
Yes, you can just play the FC Epilogue without from the main menu. Fashion Gear Outfits unlock across both games, by the way. Any outfit you unlock in one is also accessible in the other. Also, we have a dedicated Future Connected OT, so please post anything related to that in its thread and not in this one here.

Any carryover from Future Connected into the main game?
Yes, the Future Connected outfits can be worn in the main game. You could start an FC save, skip cutscenes, and then jump into the main game to play using these here fits! Also, after finishing this, you unlock an extra challenge in Time Attack Mode and Master Level Arts Manuals for the game.
Full list here:
ezdvn_yu8aye59w53ke8.jpg
Any Xenoblade 2 save game bonuses?
Yes, if a Xenoblade 2 save file is detected, you'll get a nice helping of 100k monies to start you off. Don't think too hard if you should accept it or not. It's just an added convenience and won't throw anything out of balance.

Hit me with specs!
Variable res with 720p max in docked mode, 580p max in handheld mode. The excessive handheld-mode sharpening filter from Xenoblade 2 and its expansion has been reduced and is not as severe as it was in those games.

Has the VO been changed at all?
No, the game uses the exact same VO as the original release. All the relevant voice actors also returned for Future Connected.

Has the party AI been improved?
There's no definitive answer for this right now as youtubers and reviewers don't have the bandwidth and/or experience to test this properly yet. The community will have to dig into that and answer this properly later. But the answer right now is very likely no.

Has the game been "censored?"
No.

Does this have the features from the New Nintendo 3DS version?
No, none of these (minor but neat) features are in this version, unfortunately.

Does this have the gacha stuff or Field Skills from Xenoblade 2?
No, you do not collect Blades or anything of that sort in this game. There is no gacha mechanic. Similarly, there are also no Field Skills or anything like that. You collect glowing orbs placed around the environment by running over them.

Is there New Game Plus?
Yes!

I already have Xenoblade 2 but haven't played it. Do I have to play Xenoblade first?
You can play these in any order you want to. The Xenoblade games are not direct sequels to each other with any plot carryover. The Xenoblade universe is connected by similar themes and iconography (and Nopon!!). Obviously, minor references and nods in subsequent games will only really have an impact if you bring knowledge about their referents from the other games with you but none of them are required to "get" the games or understand the story. They exist to enrich each other and mostly only. Play them in the order that suits you.

Can we definitely do this?
We can definitely do this.

What time is it?
NOW IT'S REYN TIME!

Does Shulk finally eat that sandwich?
Unfortunately not. Maybe in the 20th anniversary version.

Play as everyone!
You might be fooled into thinking it's perfectly normal to just play Shulk throughout the whole game because he has the Monado and stuff but you'd be, for one, wrong and also deprive yourself of some of the pretty cool variety, depth and fun of the combat system and especially the affinity system. So, switch out your party members and especially your party leaders you play as everyone and get to know everyone's Arts and what they're good at.
Nobody is essential. You do not need Shulk or Sharla in your party. A common misconception.

Affinity! It's important!
Affinity between party members is built-up by fighting together (and also while completing quests). This means your two active party members will build affinity with you, the party leader. This means you're encouraged to try all the different character combinations so everyone builds up affinity with everyone else. And if you know you're about to finish a sidequest and need to build affinity between certain characters, make sure to add them to the party in the needed configuration. It's all about dem <3. Most importantly, don't feel like you have to keep Sharla in your party just because of the healing Arts.

Look at the menu, there is a Tutorials screen, it's really good!
This might be one of the most helpful menus nobody uses. The Tutorials section is home to all those pop-up tutorial windows you encounter during the game. And not just the ones the game shows you automatically, it has additional ones, as well. They are very detailed and have pictures! They're ideal to freshen up your knowledge about a certain mechanic you forgot about or to read up on how exactly a certain character's Arts worked, for example. Seriously, check this area every now and then. Something might have been added that you missed or forgot about.

There is fast travel!!
You can travel to any landmark you have discovered at any time (and if you select "Area Map" you can also travel TO any region FROM any region, not just within the current map region). Someone mentioned this is a common thing people miss early on so ...no excuses now! lol

Sidequests. Accept them all, but don't obsess over them.
It's the same for all Xenoblade games: You should accept every sidequest you come across but don't go out of your way to complete any of them, unless it's a quest from a named NPC with a specific task. As for the generic quests to collect items or kill monsters, just complete whatever comes naturally through exploration and the main story. The great thing about the Xenoblade quest system is that these "filler" quests auto-complete without you needing to return to the NPC to get your reward.

Talk to people!
Think of this as a huge version of Majora's Mask. NPCs have schedules (though far less complex) and everything is on a 24h clock (ofc without an end point, there is no moon crashing down on you, except for me if you don't read this and then act all clueless!!). It will prove useful to walk through towns in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night to check for different NPCs who might have something worthwhile to say (=sidequest). Generally, talk to everyone who has a proper name multiple times. Some quests only open up once you built up more affinity with an area by doing the menial tasks, such as the basic "kill 4 of this monster type" quests.

The Collectopedia!
Under the "Items" menu, the Collectopedia is a screen you should go back to on the regular as you pick up stuff in new areas. You have to manually "donate" one of the items that it's asking for, it doesn't fill out by itself. Completing a category nets you a (relatively) high level gem and completing a whole page (there is a whole page for every zone) is rewarded with new gear. Since people hate menus, I wager this can be extremely easy to miss.

Skill Trees/Skill Links
Don't overlook this. It unlocks after a while and lets you link certain character-specific passive skills together for enhanced effects. You'll use your Affinity Coins here so go for those perfect (B) prompts and make some <3 <3 <3.

Selling/Not Selling Materials
One of the first things the game suggests to you upon entering Colony 9 is selling the stuff you just picked up. Don't. You don't need to do that at all, plus it will interfere with your early Collectopedia progress. You'll hardly ever be strapped for cash and your inventory is huge. Only sell materials when you really need some cash to buy some new Art Books or something. Make sure to not sell quest-related ones (marked with an "!" or rare materials which are marked with a shiny symbol. And always check your Collectopedia before selling anything. You might have just picked up a material that you needed to fill that last spot on the current page.

alvis.exe said:
Here's a list of materials that are OK to sell.
OK I quickly compiled a list of materials that are definitely needed for quests. Don't know if it's 100% accurate but it should be pretty decently close. Material inventory management and looking things up on the wiki/spreadsheet/FAQs was one of the things that led me to spoilers during my playthrough so hopefully this spoiler-free list will help a bit!

Couple of notes:
1. The list includes materials only (aka the stuff you get from monster drops). I didn't do one for collectables because you never run out of inventory space for those.
2. There really weren't very many duplicate item requests as far as I could tell. Basically once you complete a quest that requires a material you can sell the rest. I put a star on the ones that I remember seeing two quests need but I may not have gotten them all. Sorry!
3. Because there are quite a few quest chains in the game where you have to choose between two different quests, some of these materials may end up never being used on a single playthrough.

Gem Crafting
Note: You don't need to read or understand this before you start playing or even within the first few hours. Get to know the other stuff first since this isn't available to you right out the gate anyway.

Gem Crafting isn't super well explained in the game but it's really important for late-game awesomeness and getting the most out of your characters. Here is a handy guide that explains how everything works together. It's a highly recommended read. Alternatively, here's an old user guide to gem crafting, going into more detail:
Man God said:
MAN GOD'S GODLY GUIDE TO GEM CRAFTING 1.0

Things to consider before gem crafting:

Different people are good at different things: Shulk is decent all around, Reyn and Dunban are fantastic under certain conditions, and 7th and Riki, who seem almost useless at first, are the most important gem crafters imaginable.

Affinity and Levels matter: The higher the affinity, the more free bonus points you get. This can actually work against you in the very end, but I have a special combination to get around that. Basically though, you're going to want Max Affinity between all characters for the best chance of success.

Lets go over the basics first before we get into the three keys to success:

Crystals come from two sources, ether deposits and monsters. Both monsters and deposits have a possible list of possible gem parts that the crystal/cylinders will have on them, and each will be at a certain level and of course, a certain color. You can only combine level crystals that match in both level and color. It takes at least two crystals/cylinders to make a gem, and to successfully create a gem those two need to be at or above 100%. When you start the minigame it will randomly give you a fire heat and you'll get points added to a random crystal piece everytime. The better the character is with the fire, the more points you will get. When successfully crafted they will make a gem with a certain range of boosted stats. Two level one strength up crystals at 40 percent and 60 percent, for example will under normal circumstances make a level one Strength Up gem with a range of possible points added to strength.

Now how to make the most out of your gems?

1. Break your crystals down and level them up, aka the Price is Right Rule:

Crystals usually have more than one gem component on it and to make the best possible crystals you want single stat cylinders, and you want them as close to 100% as possible without going over.

The best way to break down gems?

a. Get a bunch of crystals with different low percentage stats on them. You can combine up to seven crystals or cylinders at once.
b. Use the seventh character in the first slot and riki in the second. 7th has a boost to the number of cylinders and riki is terrible at making gems.
c. Save, and then go for it! You want your important percentages to go up but remain below 100. Keep trying. Remember that if your level and affinity is really high you're sometimes going to get extremely unlucky and get a gem or two. Reset if you really wanted that particular gem.

2. Leveling up gems (Level your party first)

You know how you get a gem whenever the percentage goes over 100%? Well if it goes over 200% (Otherwise known as the HEAT state) you get a gem a level higher than the one you were going to make, and if you go to 300% or higher (MEGAHEAT) you get 2 Max Stat Gems of the next level! This is the key to success. If you follow step one you should get the right pieces of 70% or higher. If you combine two 80% gems for example, you only need 40 points to get heat and 140 to get megaheat. So how do we do that?

Early on in the game the best gem makers are going to be Shulk and Reyn because they have max affinity real easily and therefore, the most attempts to level up the gem. Heat is easy to do even from the beginning but Megaheat will probably take raising party affinity and level to decent amounts, especially when trying to make higher level gems. The absolute best combination for making megaheated gems is Reyn+Dunban or Dunban+Reyn with max affinity amongst the entire party. I did get Megaheat once with a level 2 gem when I was combining two 90% cylinders and had a decent run of luck.

3. How does Flame Strength and Fever Work?

Engineers' abilities affect the frequency of the different types of flame events that occur when the Shooter 'shoots' into the furnace

Strong Flame = Raise one quality a lot (AKA why Reyn+Dunban is so damn good at MEGAHEATing)
Medium Flame = Raise all qualities a bit (You want this when leveling up a ton of gems)
Gentle Flame = Raise cylinder count (Why 7th and Riki are so good at breaking down stuff)
Fever: Adds points to the shoot. You want this when going for megaheat, but sometimes the boost is too fierce for leveling. Shulk has an ability that makes fever more common.

Hey everyone, hope you enjoy the OT and the game more so! Very excited to play in the morning. I had a blast doing some of the design elements for the OT, the headers and top content panels, but really the whole OT has been a collaboration between myself, TheMoon & Dice . I think it has turned out great and I know Moon and Dice have both worked on the other Xeno OTs on the site so I really appreciate them letting me into the duo to become a trio on making this OT. I'm personally really excited to see what people who have never played the game before think. I've been wanting to do another playthrough for a while (this will be my fourth) but as soon ad DE was announced I've held off – so I'm more than ready to jump back into this world again. Ofcourse, thanks to everyone who supports the OTs I post or work on, especially fellow creators vestan Xavi and many others who are so crazy good at making OTs – it is always a pleasure doing these and I look forward to working on more later this year.

Now it's Reyn Time!

Managed to grab an early copy a few days ago, and I'm currently ~20 hours in.

It's every bit as good as it was 10 years ago!

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Man, this remake has been a dream come true for me. XC1 was always my most favorite JRPG, but the Wii did not do it justice.

Is there any chance I'll like this game if I hated XC2? Didn't enjoy the story at all, and I found the combat to be very boring and uninteresting. Didn't help that the game also looks like I smeared Vaseline all over my Switch.

So....the gems I think, that was a system that I hope got improved. Not that the gem processing stuff wasn't fun to do.

Is the convo system changed? Heart to hearts I mean.

What about the other menus?

Happy for those jumping back in with glee, or newcomers. I am going to wait and ask some real in-depth questions in a while. I do enjoy the game but it was bewildering.

Shopto fucking up my order by still charging me but not delivering the game is really bumming me out that I'm kind of disheartened from getting the game from somewhere else anytime soon.

I hope everyone else enjoys the game, newcomers and old fans alike. Enter Satorl Marsh for the first time during the day, trust me.
