lol that's some fine revisionist history you've got there. Microsoft's exclusive lineup was just as bad as Sony's (I'd argue significantly worse, since Sony had some incredible games like Bloodborne and Helldivers), it was nothing to write home about at all. And you do realise Quantum Break came out a month before Uncharted 4, right?Because all of that was rectified before launch and the ps4's lineup for the first 2-3 years was abysmal.People forget that while microsoft was putting out games like quantum break and sunset overdrive and doing amazing things with KI support, sony was trying to convince everyone that the order was worth 60 dollars, and that the free copy of drive club that they promised for launch would arrive any day now, and totally not be a fraction of the game they promised. It got so bad andrew house apologized to the shareholders.

kind of crazy how a single line can torpedo a billion dollar brandWe have a product for people without internet access. It's called the 360.
The irony of it is that Google Stadia is Don Matricks original vision taken in an even worse direction.I think the Xbox One's original vision would not see has much pushback in today's gaming climate.
Aside from maybe the GPU, if you built a good one you may be able to make it all the way through. Interest in gaming I find comes and goes. You may get back into it more down the road. If not, well at least you had fun, right?
The always on DRM and not being able to (at that time) trade games and play used games rubbed me the wrong way.
I will never forget the Sony response to this.
And the best part. None of that shit was available on sony's end either. Because both had opted into doing this, but sony cut out the entire thing from their system, and presentation after Xbox's Conference
Hahah amazing
This got clouded by the always online talk, and I got a taste of the always online thing on the 360, and it did not taste good. After a RROD repair I received a new/refurbished 360, and it wasn't connected to the digital games I had bought. I had to be online to play the games, which at the time was difficult because I had just moved and didn't have internet. This was before you could transfer the licenses yourself, eventually I had to write down all my games (about 100 XBLA titles) and call the support and get them transfered to the new console one by one.The idea of being able to share my license of a game to a friend sounded awesome. If they were better at selling, I think they could have kept the idea. It would have made their console unique.

"Look at it, it's massive! ...you could kill a man with that..."
If it's just a quick ping, then absolutely, unless you actually don't have internet for whatever reason. Today I think it would work better, but at the time it wasn't a good idea to sell the system imo. The used games scenario was big as well, and Sony obviously took advantage of that in their PS4 PR.Right, but initially didn't they say it only had to do an online check every 7 days? If it was every 5 minutes that's a different story, but if you only had to connect to the internet AT LEAST ONCE in 7 days, that would work for most people.
